Back to being bugged again I think. I remember trying this years ago and it never worked no matter how many times I tried. What’s interesting is I was just there getting the vista on the cliff, watched someone shoot a cannonball over my way, and it hit the target right next to me. So, I figured, it’s fixed right? Nope. Went over and they all hit the wall right in front of them. Even tried to fire while the cannon was angled up in the air, but no dice. Maybe it only works for -some- people (the game hates me I’m sure)

That’s because you’re supposed to transfer the Fragile buff to it so that it can be one-shotted.

I wasn’t able to do that, whenever i had the fragile buff i was simply knocked back from the vortex.

You simply need to have both the color buff (the one that gives you protection when you approach the color field) and the fragile buff at the same time and stand near the vortex crystal, you won’t get knocked back then.

That’s what I thought. I killed the summoned critter first, got the color buff, managed to grab the fragile buff from that seething circle of hell, then tried to get close to the vortex, and I kept getting pushed back. I’ve done this several times with the same result. It’s got to be a bug of some kind. I watched a vid on youtube, and went the way you describe it, but not for me. I made sure I was close to the vortex when I got color buff, so I had plenty of time. Just keep getting pushed back all the bleepin time >.<

I’ve given up on the story for now until they can fix this.

edit: if this really is a bug, the game logic may only be looking at the most recent buff – the fragile buff, thinking you don’t have the color buff, and pushing you back because of it. It should be taking both into account, but it could just be that a logic fix is needed in the code. Why it’s only happening to some people is a mystery except that perhaps not all servers have the same exact code. They should, but maybe they don’t.

Personally, I think the original poster is correct in that this item should not be a single use. I also thought it would be an account bound with unlimited use for all characters of that armor class, but alas it was not, so for now it sits in my bank until I hopefully het the armor level I need before applying the skin.

If ANET wants this to sell better, I believe that at the very least, it should be an unlimited use soulbound item. I think the “WTF?!!!” factor of finding out it’s only a single use will do more harm than good.

An unlimited use soulbound armor skin can be viewed as the same value as increasing a single character’s bag slots. I don’t think I would do another purchase like that unless it was unlimited soulbound. Because… If there were other armors in that class I liked that were available in the gem store, I could change appearance when I felt like, or better yet even do a mix’n’match.
