Everyone check and post your CPU usage. I can’t get more than 20% on all 4 cores. There is some serious bottle-necking going on and changing any of the in game settings has 0 effect on performance.

Low CPU usage is bottle-necking the graphics for a lot of people. ANET needs to seriously focus on this issue.

It’s not a GPU issue don’t worry. Check your CPU usage, I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out from there (the issue that is). Something happened in the last couple patches that destroyed CPU optimization for a lot of people. I originally thought it was AMD only but I’ve been reading more and more posts like this and it’s people with all CPU’s that just aren’t being utilized by the game. It creates a HUGE bottleneck which is why changing the video settings has no effect at all.

The game WAS optimized beautifully up until a month or two ago. I used to get kitten FPS in Lions Arch. Something happened when they messed with the culling that KILLED CPU compatibility. I don’t see more than 20-25% CPU usage, while my GPU is at 100%. I can’t get more than 20FPS for the life of me. Changing the video settings has no effect at all, which obviously points to CPU bottleneck.

I have this same problem. Check your CPU usage, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s really low while the GPU is at 100%. ANET seriously needs to look into this issue.

How is the CPU usage? After the last couple patches my CPU usage never goes above 20% and severely bottlenecks my GPUmaking the game nearly unplayable. I’m lucky to get 20 fps in Queensdale.

What is your CPU usage like when the FPS tanks?

I keep my PC clean. Why would it throttle with GW and not any other game? It’s not thermal, my CPU never gets above 55c. I can play BF3 fine with nearly 100% on all cores. GW is the only game that doesn’t run well anymore.

Let’s get this out of the way:

AMD Phenom 2 955 @ 4×3.8GHz
AMD HD7850 1GB
16GB RAM @1866MHz

So I just started playing again since the Adventure Box content, and my FPS is horrible. >15 in the cities and >25 in the country. I don’t even want to try WvW. Changing the video settings has no effect whatsoever on FPS.
To be clear: 6 months ago, this exact same computer could run the game on max and never drop below 45 FPS unless WvW.
So I did some troubleshooting, made sure all my drivers were up to date, set all my CCC options to application default. Nothing made a difference. Tried the AMD beta drivers with no luck either.
GPU activity is always at 100%

CPU activity never exceeds 20% on all 4 cores. I think I’ve found the culprit.

I called up my buddy who has nearly the same setup as me but has an Intel i5 2500 instead and he reported no issues.

So ANET, it’s almost been a week since the last update and I CAN’T be the only one who’s having this problem. What do we do from here? Seems like something in the last couple patches killed support for AMD CPU’s. This is a huge buzz kill. Plz fix.
