I am not suggesting that they get rid of sPvP gear and that format, but simply provide an option for matches using “normal” gear. Nothing about current sPvP would change, there would just be more options. This is more for organized matches between experienced teams and/or guilds where power creep wouldn’t be much of an issue. There could also be an option to limit ascended items.

Personally, I don’t find sPvP to be “bad”, just limited and very easy to grow bored of. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit before everything became too familiar, which is why I am making these suggestions. I want to enjoy sPvP again.

btw – I’m just a PvP fan, not a GvGer

Three suggestions that IMO would satisfy the majority of PvPers in this game.

1.) An ability/option/game mode to allow “normal” (WvW/PvE) gear & builds in sPvP. This has been suggested since the start, and it might not even be on the priority list, but this is one thing I believe would explode interest in sPvP for several reasons I won’t go into at the moment. Custom arenas with a higher capacity where we could set beforehand whether it would be normal gear or sPvP gear would be great.

2.) Capture the Flag game mode. This was the highlight of the old Orb mechanic in WvW. Taking something from behind enemy lines and carrying it home with hordes of enemies chasing you created some of the most thrilling PvP engagements I have had the pleasure to be a part of. The scale of it all made it even more epic, and unique. I believe this can be replicated in sPvP, to a smaller scale of course.

3.) Team Deathmatch. No objectives, no buffs, no points, no bunker builds. Just classic TDM. The ultimate place for competition, GvGs, ladders, tournaments, etc.

As WvW goes down a path that many disagree with, a large number of players who enjoy PvP are leaving this game for others. Still, I don’t think it’s too late to keep them and I also don’t think it’s too late for sPvP to become popular. This could help solve both problems.

What we liked about the Orbs before was the Capture the Flag-like game style. Not the stat buffs. So they give us back the stat buffs and remove the CTF element? What?

It really was the only other PvP game mode in GW2, besides “conquest”.

No matter how things turned out i gotta salute MERC and their peoples, it was always a pleasure dealing with them back on SoS and i still luv them to this day, keep fighting guys we love it and its one of the main reasons we keep coming back. You guys are awesome. and we understand why you aren’t as strong as you were back in the SoS days, but you are STILL one of best in the tier IMO. <3

Interesting perspective. And if it is true, impressive if they’ve got the entire server all on the same page. How that is even possible I don’t know though, so many different players and guilds.

I dunno I’m still trying to figure that one out.

It probably has to do with the fact that the WvW guilds to join SoR did not come expecting to win T1. BG/JQ were the top dogs at the time and they came looking for the best fights GW2 had to offer, but of course no one knew how badly attrition would affect the top dogs at the time. SoR being #3 for so long and appearing weak in all but NA prime only attracted a certain type of player/guild, those who weren’t looking for easy wins, but good fights and good competition. They have always been on the same page IMO.

Idunno. We pushed JQ hard in NA prime in EB. I handed red keep to BG on a silver platter. They pulled off. I pushed BG for hours b/c I was mad. The nature of the game I guess.

Kept you all busy though didn’t I? Then I got rolled a few times and gave up.

They are playing tactically. They are getting smashed in open field so they got to run. Cant blame them really, i would get frustrated after eating the floor so much too.

And there is the “ohh our force is so much smaller then yours” priceless.

Also, for the BG, how many ACs were in the EB keep before I trebbed 6 of them down? I counted 13. You know, before you guys lost everything in every BL and pushed us out of EB?

But i forgot, SOR does not call them bandwagoners. Only if they go to a server that is not theirs.

Funny, noone called tsym bandwagoners when they first moved to SoR.. in fact, many gave them props for not following every other SoS guild to BG, and not choosing the server with the highest chance of winning. Now that SoR is winning it’s a totally different story. LOL
