If the demand for buying gems with gold is higher then the supply of gems being sold that makes the value of selling gems more and the price of buying more. the opposite is a larger supply of gems being sold then then buying gems for gold the price for buying goes down and the value of selling goes down.
why is it that you get less gold to sell 100 gems then it cost to buy 100 gems with gold. why are they separate values and not one vale based on supply and demand.
I was wondering are the currency exchange and Trading post local to your server or based off all the servers contributing to it like a mass market.

(not fixed)Elixir X: This skill now gains a duration increase from both the Inventions trait Elite Supplies and the Alchemy trait .
i tested this in the mist and only get the buff from Elite Supplies trait not Potent Elixirs
(not fully fixed)Mortar: This skill is now properly affected by the Inventions trait Rifled Turret Barrels.
tested in both Rifled Turret Barrels and Elite Supplies did not seem to buff the range however Rifled Turret Barrels did properly buff damage
(fixed) Freeze Grenade: This skill no longer benefits from the Explosives trait Grenadier for 5-second cooldown reduction. tested in mist works fine
(fixed) Knee Shot: This Firearms trait now affects all immobilize skills for engineers. The effect can only trigger once every 5 seconds to prevent players from exploiting it to stack massive amounts of cripple. tested in mist works fine
(Fixed) Rifled Barrels: This Firearms trait now works with the Elixir Gun kit when underwater. tested in mist works fine
