Since this morning after that latest patch (not sure if it has anything to do with this) the game minimizes every 30 – 60 seconds and I have to reopen it.
Any suggestions on what might be happening here?
Cheers
OK, I fixed my FPS issue but probably wont help many other people, recently I inserted a HDMI cable into the main computer slot rather than the DVI cable into the Graphics card. Seems the HDMI cable was more than halfing my FPS.
Like I said probably won’t help anyone but thought I would post it all the same just incase.

hmm, the Quadro 2000 cost me like $750 AUS i think it was, I wouldnt of thought it was a soft card … it is more focused on 3d rendering not gaming, they are quite different I thought so cannot really compare them. I’m not an expert just going of what I was told.
Is it possible to switch between graphics cards, say if I had a big project on I could just switch back to the Quadro?
I’m not quite sure what softmoded means. But my computer is only 1 year old and has been running this game fine until the patch…
Just for arguments sake what would you change in my setup to enhance gaming ie guild wars.
thanks for the feedback, love the support.
cheers

Computer Spec:
- Intel Core i7 2600 (3.40Ghz / 8MB / LGA1155 / Quad Core)
- Gigabyte 4xDDR3
- NVIDEA Quadro 2000, 1GB GDDR5
- 2x G.Skill 8GB (2×4GB) DDR3 Kit, PC-12800 (1600Mhz)
- Corsair 120GB SSD, 2.5", SATAIII, Read 500MB/s
- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64bit
I know my Graphics Card is not gaming I use this computer mainly for 3d rendering and AutoCAD.
I suppose my first question is should my rig run the game smoothly?
So has my computer suddenly become under powered because my frame rate went from 70 to 10 on medium graphics, I can get it to 30fps on performance settings but thats not even worth playing the game imo.
I read somewhere that a patch is doing this to some people?
I recently installed a 300mps PCI-express wireless adapter – could that somehow have caused this? although even when I plug in the ethernet cord it still lags.
Help always appreciated, thanks in advance.

First up i’ll post computer specs to make sure there is no issue here.
- Intel Core i7 2600 (3.40Ghz / 8MB / LGA1155 / Quad Core)
- Gigabyte 4xDDR3
- NVIDEA Quadro 2000, 1GB GDDR5, PCI Express
- 2x G.Skill 8GB (2×4GB) DDR3 Kit, PC-12800 (1600Mhz)
- Corsair 120GB SSD, 2.5", Force 3 Series, SATAIII, Read 500MB/s
- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64bit
I have had constant frame rates from day one above 60. My girlfriend was complaining about the ethernet cable i was running accross the living room so I decided to go buy a wireless adapter, i got the TP-LINK 300Mbps Wireless N – PCI Express Adapter – sweet. Whilst I was messing around a I hooked up my HDMI cable rather than the standard video output – DVI is it? not sure. And I also finally took the GW2 disc 2 outa the CD-ROM (not sure if this has anything to do with it but I thought I would post everything I did)
Everything was running good, the internet was working so I decided to fire up GW2.. few issues first up was it said it had connection issues, possible router firewall settings. So I ran it through GameBooster which I think removes firewall settings. Anyway it finally worked normally, except now my FPS was a measly 6! unplayable.
I tried reconnecting the ethernet which I assume uses that rather that the wireless without changing any settings and nothing, still 6fps.
Any help would be much appreciated I think thats all the information I can give you.
Kind Regards
so u use the blast then the combo field not the other way around?
So I’m nearing 40 and still have no combos memorised and it still confuses me a little bit, I think i’ll be working on this.
Something like Erruption as a Blast Finisher though seems odd, it has a 3 second explosion delay by which time most fields would be gone.. I reckon fields should last longer, maybe not the spells effect but the combo field should maybe linger for an extra 2 seconds?
yeh nice, I’m on staff atm also. now that I know I can work on my set combos!
cheers appreciate it
I am a 36 elementalist, havn’t played any other class so not much to compare it with except a Mage in WoW =) which is why I chose an elementalist. I like the style but dont think I fully understand combo fields and what not and think that this might be a big part of their potency.
Each skill has their own attributes when you hover over it… now the combo field do u need to be in it or does it need to be on enemy or both? and what attributes define an ability that works with the combo field that is down?
Maybe someone could give me an example of a combo field or finisher ?
Cheers guys.
Nice post Valhallen, very true.
I wouldn’t say the someone absolutely cannot play PvP though. I think the problem is they come from PvE to PvP and it messes with their idea of skill.
Just play more and more PvP and I guarantee that you will start winning more than you lose because most likely more than 50% of the PvP players would be in the mindframe of where you USED to be.. but not anymore.
Another bonus is when you go back to PvE you will be like this kitten easy cause now you got real skill!
I played alot of competitive PvP Arena on WoW, my 2v2 got really high and trust me, it was ALOT of hardwork. We had for lack of a better term training.. haha, which were set times during the week we would just skirmish and practice. We pretty much got quicker and quicker at our reactions speeds.
At the beginning we were terrible though, losing matches, arguing with each other over who messed up. It is not easy, you really just need to keep playing your character and to an extent play other characters to know their weaknesses.
My advice to any PvP players struggling with coming to terms with losing is the only difference between you and someone higher is time playing / practicing your skills, watch videos read blogs. You can’t be instantly a force.
