I am built for many tpvp situations mainly mobility, capping, high crits, boon stealing, dazing & stomping. I run a blind spam, stealth on command, backstab, black powder stomp build which is also traited for faster movement while stealthed. I am also very familiar with the s/d build in tpvp, both of which are great support for any team. If you are interested in hearing more about my playstyle & how I might help your team please contact me in game or email me.
I am definitely looking to play in the upcoming touney hosted by mmorpg/mists, so please only recruitment for this event for the time being.
Thank you for your time.

Also, nerfing the return to not break stuns anymore doesn’t help. Maybe if we had stability on pistol whip.
yeah it’s hectic. can be very frustrating with pugs.
s/p is boring as a tank & the most vulnerable when running a burst spec.
Stability access every 90 secs. & when we do we’re screaming, “dps me, i’m not going to stealth or evade.”
Most popular builds, s/d perma evade, d/p stealth/backcap/backstab, require you to jump around quite a bit. It’s very easy to throw yourself off the ledge trying to set up a combo or even just throwing a flanking strike.
As a thief, this map is kittening me off already. kitten you devs, such a fun map, but no place for a thief, once again.
Fact: There are no more good thieves walking around. They either quit/retired/took a break. The only thieves I see walking around now are ones who are just “trying out the class” because they used to get ganked so easily however long ago & they are bored of their warrior/gaurd/etc. Mix this with the fact that the thief has very little going for it right now & you have the current state of the thief, unskilled players playing a nearly broken profession.
We have 2-3 viable builds right now & if you aren’t running one of them you are at a complete disadvantage as a thief & will get rolled by any other class that knows what they are doing. Hell, even if you are running one of those builds, if you opp knows what they’re doing, no amount of perma stealth is going to help you, & your dodges can only get you out of so much trouble. The skill cap on these builds has been lowered so much from all the past complaints about the thief & now we literally have no place anywhere unless the people in your party don’t care, which means they probably aren’t that good & you aren’t going to have much fun losing with them.
PvE? “aww man, a thief? do you have an alt warr/gaurd/etc?”
WvW? Forget about team fighting, your range sucks now. Perma stealth & hope you find stragglers walking around by themselves. So fun.
tPvP? Don’t even get me started on this. If the #1 NA thief ie Jumper is considering switching to mes after he made thief meta, what does that say about the profession & how it’s doing here as well.
Call it QQ, but you’d be mad too if you put months of work into a class (glowing frac, precurse, +500g spent, nearly 150 tpvp wins) only to have it destroyed bit by bit. Not only it’s function, but it’s reputation. I’m tired of never being wanted in most parties, even some guild ones. Cmon. I’m about to go back to FPS. At least the nerfs there don’t affect your hard work.
& the kicker is anet has done nothing to help us out in any of these areas yet other than giving us back that 1 second of reveal. Thanks a lot guys, so generous of you.

Also don’t forget if you’re putting 20 in acrobatics, make sure to change the #1 trait accordingly. Gain vigor on heal with give you almost 6 dodges until you have to wait, more if you add in signet for endure recharge. Not to mention when this signet activates, it gives your entire team a fresh endurance bar. Very useful for fights like fotm grawl shaman. You will be loved more than the gaurdian in your party if your constantly refilling everyone’s dodges. ( if you trait at least 20 in precision, you can reduce the cooldown of your signets. You pretty much have unlimited dodges when you do this.)
Sorry if that’s all over the place, but I hope this helps.

Always depends on your party composition & their respective builds. Always ask. Your playstyle will(should) change depending on how good or bad your team is. Sometimes you’ll need to be a bit tankier to hang, sometimes it’s a waste to bring a tankier thief bc your gaurdian or necro is mitigating all the damage for you, so you’re better off bringing a good burst rotation.
1. d/d will give you best burst damage if you want to take down bosses faster. Some bosses don’t take blinds but some do, you’ll eventually learn off trial & error what to bring. If you’re going to run d/d burst spec then make sure to put blind on stealth in you trait tree as well as 2 initiative on stealth to accompany it. Keep s/b off hand if you need aoe/range for the fight, keep p/p ready in case you need extra heals for a fight as well. If you combo it with shadow refuse & hit 1, 3, 3, you get almost half your health back depending on your gear/healing pwr.
2. Tougher dungeons/areas you want pistol offhand. That black powder is OP for anything less than a veteran in PvE. Use the 1h sword for aoe melee damage i.e dredge in FOTM, pop #5 black powder & sit in it auto attacking. Make sure to use your black powder in the best possible spot to blind as many enemy’s as possible. With this weap set you also need to make sure to bring initiative gainers in traits as well as skills. Ex. 2 initiative on stealth, regain 2 inititiave every 10 secs for traits & roll for initiative, stealth heals, & that signet that gives 1 initiative every 10 secs. If you don’t spam, & auto attack every now & then to keep your initiative balanced, you’ll do fine with this spec/weap set. It’s definitely the easiest to play.
3. You can also go straight tank/healer, to help the gaurds if they go down, but a good team doesn’t really need that. You can also go tank/condi with d/d or p/p but bleeds are better left for the necro’s or rangers.
To be honest your best bet is to make a build that has good damage output as well as good survivability. Chances are the warr’s or the gaurds on your team might slip up in high level fractals & its up to you to stay alive, keep some stealth, & res them cleanly. The fact that you can do damage while you do this is just a bonus.

I actually agree with this, although I know a lot of people won’t. Revealed was the worst nerf for thieves & that’s saying a lot.
As a main thief I know you got a long to-do list already Anet, (you’re lucky I’m not using my posting effort to QQ with all the other thieves) but if you could move the bow a quarter inch up & to the right it would be awesome. Looks mashed together with almost all my back pieces. (fractal, quiver, etc.)
