Inb4 buygate tries to buy this guild

Unfortunately Buygate is full, so no amount of gold in the world is going to move any more guilds to that server for now. xD

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a tight knit and consistently active OCE/SEA guild in Bronze tier, SotD on Darkhaven is definitely where it’s at!

Six Minutes is FIXED

Update of the ‘Six Minutes to Knightfall’ achievement: we’ve identified the issue and are currently working on a fix. Thank you for the information on only two people from the successful maps getting the achievement, that was the final clue we needed! I’ll keep this thread updated as we work on the fix.

Oki, so this quote was taken from the Battle for LA issues tracking thread, and it seems to imply that people have been getting the achievement legitimately before the latest hotfix. It’s just that a large majority of legitimate achievers in the same successful maps just weren’t getting it to pop.

So it seems that many legitimate “World Firsts” have come and gone already, before the latest hotfix patch landed. It’s just that for many players, they were ‘robbed’ of their achievement, that’s all.

I think the lesson to be taken away from this is, Anet really needs to take a good look at how such buggy achievements have impacted their community, especially for people/groups that strive for and take pride in concepts like “World First”. Those who got the achievement legitimately before the patch are now tarred with the spectre of earning it under buggy conditions, and to the rightfully happy TTS’ers and Kainengites who got it in today’s run, it can no longer be a point of pride as the ship for a legitimate World First attempt has long since sailed.

Up until this patch the achievement was bugged such that a few (typically 1 or 2) people got the achievement every time the event occurred and they downed at least one knight, regardless if it was in 6 minutes or not. This patch fixed that, and now everyone gets the achievement as they correctly should. This is considered “World First” because it is the first time you can get the achievement by doing what the achievement says, not just randomly as before.

Hmm, granted mine is anecdotal evidence (I didn’t feel the need to screencap evidence back then as it didn’t seem like a big deal), but the 6 mins to Knightfall achievement that I got on Darkhaven popped for a lot of people, there was a lot of celebration in map chat, and oddly enough no bewildered messages of “I didn’t get it :O” like what occurred after the first hotfix patch was released.

I believe we also had roughly 11mins left on the clock, so it was under 6 mins too. Keep in mind this was the first run of Knights when the update hit; DH server was packed to the brim, the ‘zerg 1 Knight at a time’ strategy hadn’t even been developed, so there were lots of people at each Knight doing their thing.

What you say Cyron could very well be true (I wouldn’t be surprised if it was). What would help legitimise any claims of World First would be if the devs could chip in on the state of the achievement as it was on release, what happened to it after hotfixes got introduced, and how it now functions after this latest hotfix. Then perhaps we can get to a point where anyone can say with certainty that a World First was achieved today. Anything less is premature, in my opinion.

Just to kinda bring the thread back on track and away from the focus on TTS, I think the point that Warcry and I are trying to make is that: we got the achievement on 2 different servers (Darkhaven and Crystal Desert), not as part of any TTS or guild organised event. Now that they have un-broken the achievement, as well as the reduced HP of the Knights, it seems that rallying a server’s population in LA should recreate conditions that will allow you to get the achievement.

Of course, it may not be easy if your server pop is low or demoralised from the raft of broken patches that have characterised this update.

I got my 6 mins to Knightfall on the first run of Knights on Darkhaven server when the update hit a week ago. I understand that later patches to fix other issues subsequently broke the achievement, but I can testify that no world first was achieved today (unless you add the caveat of “World First After Achievement was Broken and Subsequently Fixed Again” or something similar).

As a member of the 2nd TTS guild formed, I’m proud of what we continue to achieve, but I’m not particularly proud of false chest thumping either. As you can see by some of the reactions from the GW2 community on this thread already, it doesn’t exactly paint TTS as the welcoming and inclusive guild(s) that we really are.

So about all these Cyphers....

I’ll like to chime in and continue to raise the visibility of this issue too.

Count me in as another player who feels duped by Anet based on their response to this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/madness/When-will-Scarlet-s-Secret-Lair-be-closed

As much as the dev’s response is technically correct, the spirit of the OP’s question was quite evidently a worry about a deadline for cashing in LS related ‘currency’.

Normally I would be one of those players who would cash in any unique LS stuff before a major patch hits, if there are no official statements regarding when they will expire (the lack of consistency in how players are informed of when such limited currencies/chests expire is also an issue… ). Having the same concerns as the linked thread’s OP and taking my time out of the game to research on the forums, I found what I thought I was looking for in the Anet’s dev’s response. I decided to put my trust in her statement and left a stockpile of cyphers in my bank while I spent time in WvW running with friends, waiting for the new patch to drop.

The funny thing is, the more casual players in my guild who don’t follow the forums at all were taking the precaution of cashing in their cyphers, while I’m now looking a bit like a fool to those that trusted me when I linked the Anet dev’s response and told them that we could keep on WvW’ing and not to worry about the cyphers.

Please do understand that what spurred me to post in this thread isn’t a worry about loot lost, or the inconvenience of more bank slots being used up by LS currency that may-or-may-not be useful in the future. It’s more of a case of a betrayal of trust, which I find to be more damaging.

I, and I’m sure many others, would love to hear a response from Anet about this. Was the removal of the chests a bug? If so, when will we see them reinstated? If removed on purpose, will the incomplete and misleading ‘clarification’ posted by an Anet dev on the official forums be elaborated on? Even a simple mea culpa and perhaps a stated commitment to improving transparency when it comes to communicating expiration dates for time limited resources and content?

Ranger Longbow Pushback Bug

I’ll just chime in and add that I’m encountering the exact same issue that OP is seeing; I’ve been running longbow on ranger for over 5 months now, and this is the first time I’ve seen enemies ‘rubber band’ back to where they started after using longbow skill 4.

I’ve only observed this behaviour after Tower of Nightmares patch hit. In about an hour running around Kessex Hills killing mobs as part of the events, I’ll probably encounter this behaviour about 8-10 times. So not always, but enough to be noticeable.

Would absolutely love to have an option for this!

Having it as a display toggle option would also address the issue for those who prefer the current option of not seeing titles everywhere – win win!

Every weekend we run as a guild in WvW with our resident commanders. It’s not only a way to get numbers to help push Darkhaven to the top of our weekly matchup, but it’s also a casual and friendly affair to get guildies new to WvW to come check out what it’s all about!

Every week we pick a colour theme – for example, pretty in pink! ’Cos nothing beats stomping our foes wearing the manliest colour around! >.<

Game hard locking since maintenance update

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

zIP.2345

Hi Anet. I’ve been encountering a recurring hard lock issue during my play session today. It’s the first time I’ve logged in since last night’s massive maintenance update.

It has now happened to me 3 times in an hour in WvW – and just happened to me again running around Southsun Cove.

It is a full hard lock, with the game freezing – I have to use Ctrl+Alt+Del and end my GW2 process everytime this happens.

In WvW, it has crashed on me when out of combat (the first time was just getting into Eternal Battlegrounds, and it crashed as I was running out of the spawn area), other times while I was in combat. As you can imagine, logging back in as dead and having to pay the armour repair bills is not fun at all, especially since these crashes are now happening so frequently. I’m now leery of even booting up the game at all as I mainly play WvW these days, and am not keen on becoming broke from false armour repair bills due to crashes.

Nothing else has changed on my system; I literally logged off GW2 last night when the maintenance hit (I’m from the Oceania region), and logging back into the game this evening was the beginning of the constant crashes. Previously, the only time GW2 would crash on me would be after 8 hour + sessions of WvW, and then only very rarely (we’re talking about once or twice in the last couple of months). Also when it used to crash, it would go to a bug report window – not this consistent hard lock issue.

So:

A) Is anyone else experiencing hard locks since the maintenance update?
B) Is there any info I can provide that might narrow down the cause of this issue?

Had a great run with Obal, Shion and friends yesterday evening too – I couldn’t believe we were really conquering Arah explore like any other dungeon. I’ve had longer and more agonising runs with groups doing CM and AC than with Obal’s doing Arah. Not a single wipe and we took down Lupi on the first try.

Thanks a heap for taking us through – I learned a lot from that run!

Hi Obal! (and other helpful Arah explorable vets)

I’ve been keeping an eye on this thread since it opened up months ago. I have attempted Arah path 3 explorable blind with a small group of guildies once; it took us 4 hours to reach Lupi, and we had to stop there as we couldn’t put a dent in him. It was the first time in this game where we actually had to quit a dungeon without finishing it! We had our fun, and it actually felt good to experience a boss that we really had to work hard to defeat.

Unfortunately, I have full time work and find it difficult to find a group to re-attempt Arah again, and I also have avoided posting on this thread due to several pieces of Rare gear on my main. But as of last week, I have finally outfitted my main in all Exotic gear (and 2 Ascended rings) – and would love to be shown the ropes in Arah! I’ve completed all other dungeons multiple times, and I also love to take new groups through those dungeons. I’ve only heard great things about Obal’s groups, so I’m hoping to learn Arah with someone who’s proven to be awesome, so that I may one day pay it forward and help other people through Arah explorable.

Hehe, I’ll like to think I’m pretty helpful and patient person – my record so far was taking a fresh faced group of people through CM path 3, that took 3 hours o_O

I run a Tough/Vit/Cond dmg Engineer, with a focus on kits and group support with an elixir gun, on the US Darkhaven server.

Looking forward to Arah runs with you guys!
