In other words:* We’re on our own. *

Every other game in the universe works. I don’t see why Guild Wars 2 is an exception.
While it may be on our ends. The only reason why it’s on our end is because Guild Wars 2 requires it to be, when every other game iskitten and span, clean and tidy.

Spose’ the only option now for people is to ask for refund. I’m moving to a new apartment in a month or two, with an entirely new internet setup. So I’ll just wait it out…

Good luck out there.

BIT OF INFO/SOLUTIONS BECAUSE ANET IS TOO LAZY TO WRITE EXACTLY THIS
For those of you who haven’t realized it yet. This issue is divided into two groups. There are A) the people who can’t even WALK around in the game, because as soon as they click play with their character, they get error 7.

And there are B ) those who can play and get constant disconnects.

For those with A). Try a pinglowering software (tunnelling) or a VPN (Spotflux, VPN Direct – to name two absolutely free, unlimited usage one, VPN Direct only free if you tunnel through American server 1 – but Spotflux is free for everything as far as I am aware – although it doesn’t work on my computer for some reason, but works on everybody else’s so lucky you.)

For B ) it’s worth giving a try anyway. Spotflux is like 9mb and set to go. Give it a try.
Wont be as fast as a direct connection (probably faster with software like wtfast, smoothping, lowerping, pingzapper etc.) But hey! You can still help.

People with problem A) can fix it by Port Fowarding as well, although if you are on a campus network like I am. The University will probably NOT open ports for you, and therefore you can use Spotflux – which will make everything unblocked and lovely.

(Can also access Netflix and what not no matter where you are with VPN American Tunnelling)

Hope this helped.

The ArenaNet official already said they are looking into it. But it would be good to have an update.

Be sure to try what I posted if you haven’t already.

It goes without saying that the software must be running WHILE playing Guild Wars 2 for my method to work.

It still works for me. I’m happy it’s working for some people at least.

Temporary Solution!!!!!!

So I have been searching relentlessly for a solution. And have found one, which should work for everyone. It’s by no means a permanent fix, ArenaNet still needs to do it’s part and fix it, but this should work as a temporary solution to the problems we have been having.

First go to https://www.wtfast.com/ (it does cost, but you can get a 7 day free trial – so that’s 7 days of Guild Wars 2 until ArenaNet hopefully fix it.)

Sign up for the 7 day trial, make an account, download etc. When you open to the software make sure Guild Wars 2 is selected.

How this software works is that instead of connecting directly to ArenaNet servers (wherein lies the problem in our case) you connect to a private server, which doesn’t have a problem connecting to ANet servers, which connects to servers, and sends information back to you.

This method is usually used to lower your ping/latency as the providers servers are faster in response than those of ArenaNet’s, and luckily for us, works as a temp fix to our problem

There are other alternatives such as SmoothPing out there as well.

Hope this helped, it worked for me. Let’s hope that Arena fixes it within a couple more days!

But as I said, it’s by no need a permanent fix. We shouldn’t NEED to do this to be able to play a game. Especially if eventually it never gets fixed, and ends up costing us…

Remember you have to have this software running the WHOLE time you are playing Guild Wars 2. You can terminate the application process only when you are not in-game.

So it miraculously worked for me just before.
Quit to go have dinner, came back, tried to zap back into queensdale and … same error.

Why all this false hope?

Can’t really afford an OS reinstall at this point in time.

My University denied opening ports for GW2 as “It’s not for educational purposes”.
Hundreds of students are raging.

Okay so a lot of people have been getting the 7:11:3:189:101 error.
This is an connection error due to either the ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 being restricted and inaccessible, or a firewall blocking the connection.
Easy enough to test which one. Just disable any firewall/antivirus for 5 minutes while you try load first map after log in. If you still get the error – it’s your ports.

If you are at home and have a router – you can forward your ports easily.

If however you are on University (College) internet (most commonly an ethernet cable wall-jack to your computer) then well… You’re screwed. Like me.

Unless you are able to contact your residential IT team and ask them to forward said ports – which – most of the time, they will refuse to do for “security reasons”.

Bottom line, even though every other game in the world will work with College internet: Guild Wars 2 will not.

Spose’ I can play in 3 years when I move out of this apartment to another.

Would be nice for a work around for us lonesome students Arena Net.
I was so excited

Regards,
Max
