I would definitely have to agree with Shade as well, i like the idea level scaling in that you can go anywhere and are still able to be killed, however i just read that they are making it even more balanced so that your stats will be closer to the level you have been scaled down to, the way i see it if a level 80 in a 40 area has the same stats they had at level 40, then why even have a leveling system? it sorta makes leveling pointless, when I’m 80 and go back to a level 25 area i should feel like I’m able to go through it pretty easily, it doesn’t have to be a 1 shot kill for everything in sight, but if you take away the difference between higher level and lower level than you might as well do away with the whole system and then the game really does become dependent on gear, which is no longer the GW2 so many of us know and love, gear is a nice thing to shoot for, but really the point of GW2 is to simply have fun with whatever you happen to be doing at the time.
