Hey, daphoenix. I, too, wanted to express my gratitude on what looks to me to be one of the most comprehensive guides to an MMO class that I have ever seen. You do a fantastic job of explaining how to get the most out of this very nimble and fun class. While I’ve enjoyed my necro, as well, I truly love the trait synergies you’ve worked out and the strategies you’ve shared on how to get the most out of the profession. Kudos, sir, kudos indeed!

Game keeps crashing since new patch

Getting complete reboot crashes with GW2, as well. Have a fairly robust system that plays all games I’ve tried (including very robust ones with high graphical features) and nothing like this happens.

System specs:
- Win8 x64
- 1090T Phenom @ 3.84GHz (runs very cool regardless of my settings because I run for framerate and let the higher than average resolution (2048×1152) compensate for lower settings)
- 250GB SSD (I run GW2 from it)
- 16GB DDR3 1066
- GTX 660Ti Video Card (2GB GDDR5)
- 850W PS

My performance score is 7.7, with these scores in Processor and RAM, while the remaining 3 (Graphics, Gaming Graphics, and HDD) are 7.9

I’m using the latest drivers and, as I said, have no issues with any other games I’ve played since I’ve had this particular configuration.

Update 3/8/13 : After a series of fairly serious reboot crashes, I tried a few other games and had no issues with them, went back to GW2 and had an almost immediate crash. This one caused a chkdsk (or whatever Win8 uses now) to repair errors to my C: drive. This is the first time I’ve seen this happen in Win8, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to run the game from my apps HDD and see how the game worked. Surprisingly, I played for two hours approximately with no crashes! This is by no means a conclusive test, but for those who have tried just about everything else they can think of, try moving the game from an SSD to a HDD (assuming you’re also running from an SSD). Apart from slightly longer load times, which drag the FPS down slightly while world objects are loading, I had zero issues this last session.

Update #2, 3/8/13: Yeah, sorry, was mistaken about the SSD issue. While HDD seems, overall, more stable, than SSD, it does still crash with the same problems (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) and reboot my system. I really wish I knew what was behind this. If anyone has figured this out, please feel free to PM me and let me know how you corrected it. I’m inclined to believe it’s on the ArenaNet side of things, because I simply have no other games, no matter how high I set them, that crash my system in this way.
