It worked! I can’t believe how I missed trying that. I use the Windows Key + Arrow keys all the time when I’ve got multiple programs open, not sure how I couldn’t put two and two together.

When I start up Guild Wars 2 on my Windows 8 64-bit machine, the game seems to do all of the necessary downloading/updating and launches fine. The game window opens to a white background and immediately disappears to what I can only assume, is the taskbar. When you hover the mouse over the task bar icon you can see that the character select screen is running and you can hear the game music. Note, I play the game in windowed mode and have tried to run the game with the correct command line argument to run it full screen but there is no change.

I’m not sure if this is a common problem but I haven’t been able to find a cure. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and uninstalling and reinstalling/updated my video card drivers to no avail. I run a Radeon HD 5830 graphics card. Please let me know what other information I need to provide to help you find out the cause.

I’m also experiencing this problem. Has anyone found a fix for the minimized game screen?

I can start the game correctly, I get 1-2 seconds of white window (I play in windowed mode), the window disappears, and the game sounds like it is completely launched. You can hover your mouse over the icon on the taskbar and see the preview of the game menu but the game screen will not show up.

I have tried running command line options that check the game for errors, that run the game in full screen mode (apparently, doesn’t seem to work), and I’m at my wits end. I do not want to re-download and install the game if I can help it.

Let me know if you require any other files. Please advise me on the correct course of action.
