I think all conditions should have their duration times reduced 50%. I also think any points spent into toughness and vitality should be 25% less effective as well. We mine as well even things out.
I’m not sure about all that, but I feel that condition builds should have a system of crits as well, and the system should be then balanced around that.

Guardians with increase burn duration plus 33% more burn dmg. If condis crit they will probably destroy the planet by sneezing…
not sure if the 25% is enough to break “zerk gear or get out” PvE….but i sure as kitten am going condi in wvw

I completely agree, this is almost forcing some classes to go tanky condi, which is something that I feel is dulling down the game. A glass cannon character should be able to output a serious amount of damage, much more than someone who is in full dire. The risk/reward of direct damage vs crit damage is way off in this game. Someone who is specced purely for damage should ouput much more damage than someone in full dire gear. This is an inherent problem with the way conditions work in this game, and unfortunately is something that does not seem like anet cares about.
This nerf to crit damage is too much, it is going to make my shatter mesmer almost unusable in competitive fights.

Damage was too much on a single attack and death occurred too quickly. The number one problem with time to kill was and is condition damage. It was wholly unbalanced. People just got used to it.
It is about time frankly.
