Last update Rune and Sigil Changes
Excellent Rune of Strength change, in my opinion.
Going to look at the rest of the changes.

I’m actually surprised they didn’t wait till a balance patch to nerf rune of strength

Hopefully that’s an indicator of their future response time for other important changes. (probably not)
Is this confirmation that everything is balanced around sPvP?
Minor tweaks to runes = balance achieved. It’s a good day.

When Runes of Strength were also nearly 100% the best option in every case in every build on every profession in PvE… maybe they need a nerf there too.

Well, I didn’t see any PvE monsters complaining about it. =P
That is why I use Rune of Hoelbrak.

This is why I didn’t buy any for WvW.
Old Man Burr (War), Bad Hat Ben (Engi), Manly Manny Manson (Guard)
I would have better seen some change to useless runeset with counter productive effect like stealth/mist/magnetic aura… etc. when falling under X% life.
These runeset may have some usefullness in spvp… wait… no… maybe in WvW… humm… no… PvE then… arf … absolutely not… Well these effect trash theses runesets. These are the things that should be worked on. Instead of cheap nerf to interesting runesets.

If you introduce a buff to a runeset that makes it the #1 choice across all professions and all of the applicable builds (in this case power builds) then the only answer is to nerf that runeset to bring it back in line. Buffing other runesets to match it is power creep, and is bad for the game.

Have you been to WvW? they sure aren’t balancing the game in there…
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.

Can’t really tell what runes anyone uses in a zerg, and it seems the majority of roamers use condition builds with perplexity.
Idk. I didn’t think Strength sigils were that great for (optimized) PvE even after they got buffed, except mayyyybe for eles and warriors. It seemed more like a hype train than anything else, i.e. “they’re new, let’s buy a bunch” → increased price → “they’re new and EXPENSIVE, they must be the best” → increased price.
Anyway, I lol’ed when I saw the notes, and feel really bad for anyone who might have spent 110g on a set just before the patch notes hit. I’m guessing we’ll see a slight shift back toward Scholar, though only for PvE content.
I laughed at the Strength rune nerf because it really does nothing to hurt there viability. The main reason to use them was for the 45% duration on might and that still remains and hence my belief they will once the panic stops continue to be the number 1 PvE/PvP Rune. The 7%dmg was never an issue and if someone really wanted raw DPS Scholar, eagle, Ranger and Even Pack runes (assuming no-ele for fury) offered the same if not more DPS without the need to stack might.
Anet would have been better off Reducing the duration to 30% and keeping the 7%dmg thus bringing it inline with Hoelbrak and pirate while keeping it distinct from the other 2. That would have been a proper nerf allowing other might runes and other DPS choice’s to be considered because right now if someone wants additional might Strengh is still number 1 choice (Ele’s, Guards and Necromancers) for it while still offering a modest DPS boost.
Props to anet for listening to the community but I don’t think this is going to change anything in terms of rune viability
Going to look at the rest of the changes.

thats what anet have came up with since the last balance patch in april.

Tell that to Mesmers. They seem to think the sky fell.
And “changes” doesn’t mean “balance changes”. I like knowing all of the little things they are tweaking around the game. I personally think balance is in a pretty good place at the moment, all things considered. By and large, PvPers just seem to think all other PvPers that they don’t know personally are bad players, and thus if they lose to them, the game must be imbalanced, because there’s no way a bad player would ever beat them in a balanced game.
And if you were a dev for GW2, you could come to the forums and see how little everyone thinks of all the time you put into trying to help improve their game!
