[PvE] class change ideas.
I think they should just ditch mortar completely. Replace it with a Gattling gun so we we can actually move around and use a hail of lead while we advance. It would also be scarier than a mortar.
@DeathShadow Necrotic Grasp Pierces so it can potentially hit multiple targets. For dagger to get a cleave on the auto they would probably have to reduce it attack speed. I am just guessing here, but I am reading that request as the desire for a power based multi-target playstyle to be supported. Yes, no?
Necromancer.
Sadly, a weapon that cleave for necromancers would make “vampiric” slightly overpowered. So Necromancers will probably never have a weapon that cleave in the sense you would want it to do.
Ranger.
Blur/dodge on pet is an idea that is oftenly suggested. Main issue here is that you and your pet mmay not be at the same range of the threat. Which mean you will blow a dodge for your pet and take the damage or you will save the dodge for you and let your pets take the damage. In the end the complaint about pets survivability won’t end with this kind of solution.
Engineer.
Even if you don’t like mortar it have it’s use with it’s current state. Well, it’s useless for all pvp things, thought.
You’re basing your thought on common assomption that are false (sorry to say this but that’s a fact). Powermancer with wells, warhorn, staff and deathshroud can bring solid dps on multiple foes at the same time. Rangers don’t have a subpar dps because their pet are taking a part of there damage, Rangers can achieve as much dps as other classes without their pets. It’s just a matter of build (and weapon choice, most of the time).
Necro:
Replace one of the relatively unused traits with one that makes dagger auto attack cleave. I think one of the most crippling aspects of playing a PvE necro is that they’re the only class that has no access to auto-attacks that can hit multiple mobs.
Staff has a line-AE as an auto-attack.
Yeah wells can do pretty good DPS but you run risk of covering other people’s fields. I’ll admit it was an idea for power based builds but that’s because I thought the general idea was to have access to a multitude of gameplay styles, but it seems like necros are forced to be condition or MM. Also I do know life blast and staff auto attack but hoping mobs stay in line with each other is a bit much to ask for.
As for ranger even if they don’t lose much DPS when their pet dies it’s still the classes main mechanic, and it’s the only mechanic that can die. There seem to have been many tweaks for pets to make them more useable but the reason evade frames would help so much is because the game prioritizes dodging to stay alive with no healer class, and pets being forced to take any big hit that they happen to be in range of seems like it could be a fixable issue.
