Ranger GM traits are not worth it.
6 points things are changing.

Same crap different packaging.
Now with less clicking….
Evidently no matter how many complaints you write, how much math you post, how much you try to compare your traits to similar traits for other classes, well it just doesn’t mean a thing. Because before JP & Co. start balancing they first light up the crack pipe and then get to work.
The wilderness trait for poison damage would actually have been very nice way back in the trap ranger days. Might even make them worth trying again.
NA tPvP – Elementalist – Thief
And finally the pet trait for AoE healing on f2. Another trait only BM bunker specs will use.
You just like skipped this one. This traits excites me. What’s wrong with BM bunker specs? They’re fun.
Yerp, couple more bunker trait options; power still kittened; 30 point investment for everything except LB —now 50 point requirement lol.
On a positive note we may or may not have fixed pet f2 skills (sry bout the rest of the pets ai),
Have a good day.

It’s not fun when you’ve spent 1.5 years where only BM condi bunker and spirit bunker are the only viable specs.
They really didn’t need an extra trait.
Marksman and Skirmishing in particular needed the most help alongside beastmastery, and all of them got garbage traits compared to poison master and survival of the fittest.
it is always the same with ranger weapons and utility skills. they all need GM traits specced to be viable. i would have never think of a build with 3 survival skills. now we have a new GM trait to boost them. we face a non condition using enemy and will become totally torn apart. ranger can be the strongest 1on1 class, but where is always just 1 counter build we can use. warrior for example has some very strong builds that work in so many situations, it is just ridicules.
Kodash
Stomp some Piken!
You had to give them a second option for another 30 points investment in another bunker line while offensive rangers will still have no condi removal.
omg so you have to spec into defenses to get defenses? /wrist

These changes are so underwhelming, it blows my mind.
I log on to my ranger every day, where I am relegated to a either a ridiculous spirit ranger spec in sPvP (that people hate) or the Spotter/Spirit build in PvE (with a ridiculously clunky sword 1 chain).
In WvW, I run traps whose durations/effects are pretty laughable. I wish they at least activated on downed enemies. I have to slot Signet of the Hunt for roaming, because Traveler’s would lower my damage to nearly healing people.
My Suggestion: Make Read the Wind standard, make Piercing Arrows standard, and merge Eagle Eye and Spotter. Then, replace Read the Wind with Close Quarters: your Longbow auto attack always hits for maximum range co-efficient. Make Remorseless a Master Trait, and replace it with a new Grandmaster trait.
I understand that some of these are a little underwhelming, but it seems that many people are mistaking these new Grandmaster traits for the actual buffs that the Ranger class is due to receive. They are two different things, so it’s perfectly possible that some of these traits will be great after Ranger is properly buffed across the board.
They aren’t going to buff the Ranger. It’ll be changes, yes, but not buffs. Why? Power Creep was the answer. We are supposed to be the sustained damage class (even though every class has sustained damage — it’s called auto attack). So, no damage buffs coming. And if you’re running a defensive build in pve/dungeons, you need to l2p and run zerker, or at least knights at the very least.

Except other classes don’t, idiot. And it’s not just speccing defensive, it’s needing to go all the way into the line you poor excuse for a troll.
wow do you really think other classes dont have to spec defensively to get defenses too

I don’t think so, I know so. Thief utilities, warrior utilities, ele utilities, engineer utilities. All of them have utility skills and weaponskills that remove conditions without having to go 30 points into a defensive line.
Warrior Cleansing Ire, which is significantly better than Survival of the Fittest, is a masters trait instead of grandmaster. Thief stealth spam gets condi removal as its adept trait.
oh so theyre using utility slots on defenses but that doesnt count as speccing defensively in your twisted world
and each of those classes only has condi removal traits in defense lines…

Cleansing Fire on fire line….
And they have the option of using utility skills instead of much more expensive traiting sacrifices, an option rangers don’t have.
You’re just dense.

no im not, youre just mad that nothing looks good at face value when you dont have all the information and too stubborn to keep the kittening at a minimum for 3 weeks.

Keep fooling yourself. I’ve been here since beta and rangers know better than to fall for the hype. Our “big patch” turned out to be an underwater combat improvement patch.

December 2012, never forget.
I agree, all of these GM traits are severely underwhelming compared to other classes.
To me it seems like most of our traits are things the Ranger needs without being GM, where in other classes there are seen as options to diversify their builds.

This right here.
Most of what we have seen should be buffs to the class and not GM traits.
The ranger class needs to stand toe-to-toe with other classes, but right now they are STILL laughed out of every game mode.
