Ahhahahaha. That does indeed sound like a bug. Can’t wait to start seeing it on every Mesmer against my no-stability class. Going to be good.

I was using those runes yesterday on my Mesmer because I was trying out the new grandmaster torment trait, and I liked those the most. I had no idea they were procing off clones.
woowlolwlolo mesmers are getting all the presents this patch.
Most of the goodies mesmers got are probably bugs that will get fixed sooner than their broken mechanics that haven’t been fixed in months … cough looks at iWarden.
I knew there was a reason I kept my full set of TA armour…

Speaking as a mesmer player, that seems a little over the top!
Hahaha, this is really funny! Unfortunately more people are gonna know about this now.
Time to reroll Mesmer.
Was meh so I switched to travelers
This is nothing new. It’s working as intended. It has been in the game since it went live 2 years ago.
Does it also works with runes of Kraits and Oriens when it comes to apply Bleed and Poison when struck by a hit?
I’m not sure, I’ve never used those runes.

This effect only works with the TA and CoE armor set as far as I know. The runes’ effect also seems like it’s preloaded onto the armor even if you change them.

If this is intended, my question is if the clone-fears proc power-block.
Now that would be a REAL lockdown mesmer. Putting everything including auto-attacks on a 10s cd is kinda funny.

Don’t think auto-attacks can ever have an interrupt cooldown.

We think it’s bugged right now because it is putting aa on cooldown as well.
keep it. this is hysterical.
Just to clarify: Pyroatheist has been testing this out and posting his progress on the Mesmer forums. The bug only triggers when the mesmer is wearing a full set of armor skins from a dungeon regardless of whether they kept the original runes or not. The bug has been reported and been around forever. It used to not be that noticeable until they changed the runes in the last patch. The same happens for CoE gear where the mesmer’s clones are spawning golems. Right now CoE and TA gear are confirmed. They’re testing out other armor sets.
This bug is NOT triggered in PvP with a Nightmare rune. It is only triggered in PvE/WvW with Mesmers who are wearing the full armor skins from a dungeon, regardless of whether they resocketed the runes.

That’s really, really interesting. I feel like I’m being dense though, because I can’t connect the change in the rune to this bug hitting the spotlight. Was the rune change just an easy scapegoat now, where before it was like “….what just happened I don’t even”?

I think before the patch, the six piece bonus gave a 5% chance of proc’ing so it wasn’t that noticeable. It would happen and people would just say, “wtf?”. After the patch they changed it so that it has a 50% chance on hit with an internal cooldown of 90seconds. So that’s much more noticeable when the clones don’t share the cooldown.
Keep this effect in the game. I want to see all of the band wagoners rush to mesmer. I guarantee a steep decrease of hammer warriors and thieves in WvW, and engineers in PvP.

That makes sense to me. Maybe now it’ll get some priority to be fixed, but only maybe.

Have NPCs always proc’d sigils? I’m pretty sure a flesh golem hit me with lightning strike earlier today. Is something bugged where NPC’s (in spvp) are doing way more damage than before?
Thief – Radderic
Mesmer – Smash Kablooey
Welp, looks like it’s been fixed with a broad Mesmer nerf (no rune bonuses of any kind for clones anymore).

Smiter’s Boon’ed, you mean.
It is like ‘fixing’ an old pc with a sledgehammer. Asuran-like engineering, so to speak. Except with the reasoning of a skritt.

I wouldn’t say that. Clones never got rune bonuses before, at all. The only way they acquired rune bonuses was through this bug. If you weren’t wearing a complete set of dungeon armor, you’d have never seen this occur. Clones also don’t have stats, so the stat bonuses from this sort of rune bug didn’t affect them either.
As much as I was planning on having a lot of trolly fun with nightmare armor…this was a bug, it wasn’t balanced, and it’s properly fixed now.

According to multiple forum posts, clones did receive some rune bonuses before the feature patch without dungeon armor. Example: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Illusions-proccing-armour-runes/first#post2049049
Not sure if these were rare bugs or just rarely noticed.

Probably rarely noticed. The chances of the runes to proc was quite low before, so many just didn’t see it happen or attributed it to the Mesmer itself.
