- None of the build combinations I have used are really great. Most builds are not as good as other professions if they specialize in a role. The only really good build is using a full Condition Damage major stat set and using elixirs H and C, and Grenade Kit, with 30 points in Explosives for the Grenadier Grand Master Trait. Turret Builds are very underwhelming and are among the worst archetypal builds of all professions. From my experience with the Marionette, using only Asura racial skills as utilities with my engineer was better than fully traiting for using turrets and bunkering down.

2. Elementalist
-Most all around builds are generally lackluster when compared to other classes, and most specialized builds are extremely high risk/ high reward. They can generally do 1 or 2 things- damage or healing- REALLY well if built and played perfectly.

3. Ranger
-Pet and minion AI needs a major overhaul. The reasons why they are shunned in WvW should be considered.

Most Important Overhauls:

All professions need new Grandmaster (or new higher tier) traits that fundamentally alter how the profession plays. The current traits do not really fundamentally alter profession game-play.

Ultimately, new traits that truly alter profession game play will allow for more build diversity; more diversity allows for more niches for professions to exploit. Thus allowing game-play to emerge, become more complex, and expand.

Disclosure:
I am biased towards the engineer and elementalist. Thus a need for an explanation to give the developers and the community an insight with my choices. There are reasons why many NA T1 commanders mainly use certain professions in WvW to command with, and this should be considered when making balance changes.

Reasons;
1: Rangers
There is a lot to be said. The ranger is my main, always has been, always will be. Regardless of nerfs or buffs i simply love the concept of it. However, if you want to know the faults that the ranger is burdened with, you can simply look in the ranger forums. A day worth of posts there sums up 18 months of problems.

2: Thief
Their DPS is fine, their sustain is not. Strip away their stealth and they are sitting ducks. They can only evade so many times, and if professions with high sustained DPS such as Rangers, Warriors and Elementalists want them dead, they will die.
Thief simply lack build variety and sustain outside of stealth. Their greatest asset is their biggest hindrance. Rebalancing thieves with higher hitpoints and better healing/healing efficiency on existing skills in addition to reducing stealth (overall for all professions) will be the way to go.

3: Engineers
This applies to power builds for the most part. Grenade setups will as of today, instantly kill the user if they chuck them into a zerg. Simply because the grenades does abysmally poor damage with power setups compared to the damage of retaliation.

This^ I like this. Also, Condi necros need a slight nerf while their power specs need some love.
(And no… this isn’t me double voting… I just want to point out this post.)

1 – Ranger (pet mechanic just doesn’t work when the game’s supposed to be about actively dodging attacks rather than just tanking)

2 – Elementalist (simply too fragile; doesn’t get the power to match, say, a thief in return for it; note burst is far more important than DPS when you’re a glass cannon)

3 – Engineer (you can either use a weapon which makes your skills relatively poor, or you can use a kit which makes attaining high level weapons useless in a game which pushes you towards spending tons of time obtaining ascended/legendary gear)

1. Elementalist – simply needs more sustain. Be careful not to overshoot with buffs, like you did with Warriors.
2. Mesmer – too many builds killed with no compensation, minimizing build diversity with each patch. Take a look at confusion and AoE abilities for WvW.
3. Ranger – take a look at pet mechanics and the AI. They desperately need help in group fights OUTSIDE of cheesy spirit builds.

Anet hates [your class], since [other classes] got buffs while [your class] only received nerfs.
