To bring about variety and more interesting gameplay. A little more positive than that other thread with a similar title. Personally, life siphoning vampiric necromancers would be awesome.

I’d like to try nerfing the out-of-control OP stuff first and see if that opens the door from some of these fringe specs to come into play, rather than power-creeping everything to god-status.

I like the ideas so far, but I want to ask one other question. How would you go about implementing these ideas? Not necessarily what is balanced, but what do you think would be fun and interesting?

Maybe less so a buff, but push the Mesmer more towards Lockdown based specs such as in GW1 with less reliance on clones/phantasm.

Hrm, I wouldn’t think in specific “builds”, so much as in concepts:

  • Skill-type diversity. If I have a category of skills (say, Mantras), it shouldn’t be as all-or-nothing as it is now. If I trait for them I’m kinda coerced to fill as many slots as I can with them, otherwise I want to maybe use a single one. More focus on the skill, less on trait min/max-ing would be a good change here.
  • Reactionary damage in general. That is, Confusion and Retaliation. These should be rare to apply, but really powerful. You should actually want to not attack when they are around, in turn you should be able to rely on them being up very rarely.
  • The whole condition-damage vs direct-damage thing needs a basic change. Conditions shouldn’t cap for all players (rather, per-player, but with harsher limits – say Bleeding/Torment etc to 10 or so, binary effects to 3x the duration). Also, gear-support needs to exist, +duration should probably be a more common stat on gear (but the same goes for boon duration and the class stats!).
  • Underwater as a whole needs a buff, but an indirect one. Make players unable to heal unless at the surface! The #4 skill causes you to swim upwards rapidly instead. This would not only add a lot of value to say, the Engineer 3 skill drowning skill, but also promote quite strategic play: At the surface you can’t kill much, but the further down you go the further you risk your own life.
  • Signets in general. Their passives should be really noticeable, but the active should be forced at times. Example: Signet grants you +300 Toughness. But makes you run 10% slower. Active gives you Swiftness but also 10 stacks of Vulnerability, and ofc disables the passive.
The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Would be fun to see one do something else than assassinate people. :P

Condi Damage Guardian.
Likely won’t happen until they get more weapons.
None of their current ones apply Bleeding afaik.
But I could see them being viable one day, they do have Burning as is.

Condition Ele, I run it myself. It is a lot of fun but does have some serious weaknesses that require certain traits, sigils and gear to counter – such as our lack of conditions requires certain runes and sigils to be able to effectively cover the damaging conditions we have which other condition based classes have no fear about. Gear as well as we are forced into Toughness/Vitality to again counter the issues the class as a whole as this, this limits what gear stats we can go for as well. It could do with some tweaks and buffs to certain condition based traits as well.

I think a definite power plateau should be set, if warriors is where it is at, then so be it ( I personally think they are near OP, but that is ok). And ALL professions and build should be buffed to this level of power.

Raise bleed caps above 25 so my necromancer can do something other than autoattack things with a knife for max DPS in PvE.
