As the days go on, its becoming obvious that the mechanics of the new abilities are not working for a significant number of players. I’m also sure there are others that are having issues, but aren’t voicing their issues.

In case you are just joining us (devs), players are finding that due to some issue with the game, the new abilities are not working as intended, and players such as myself are not able to participate in the new content.

The problem of course is that, like all the other Living Story chapters, the content is only around for a limited time. This means, that the longer this goes unaddressed, the less time players have to participate.

For those of us with busy schedules, asking us to wait until the sever dies down, or for a more favorable connection time, is not realistic.

I am making this thread because I believe ANet needs to address this ASAP. We need to know if they are planning on addressing these issues, or if we should move on and skip this content?

What’s interesting is how differently things seem to be on a person to person basis. I’ve had relatively few problems at all, and once I realized a second tap on the fire speed boost will stop your movement things got notably easier. I’ve been able to use the lightning one to stop on a dime and give you change… probably the most issues I’ve had have been the “1” jump… double tapping by accident seems to confuse it.

For me, the new content is unplayable. Not unenjoyable – literally unplayable. I can’t make any successful jumps at all, so I can’t get up to the airship and all that.

Very little lag (ping of 50 last time I checked), with occasional lagspikes (they happen), but the rest of the game is behaving normally.

The problem I have (and have always had) is with the SAB jump pads, which were later recycled for Dragonball, Aetherblade dungeon and jumping puzzle, and now the aspect skills. I have insane skill lag just on these (my normal skills are unaffected), and every single time I use them wihtout fail. By the time I see the jump animation, server-side I’ve already fallen to my death, so I have zero control over the movements.

It could be something not your internet connection, but something else in the background? Or control lag? (I have a known issue with my mouse entering “sleep” sometimes without warning).

Haha, funny video there, but illustrates the frustration many of us are dealing with very well. One particular set of jumps, directly to the left when first entering the new zone, has been absolutely impossible for me. Must have tried 100 times, every single time #3 overshoots the platform.

As much as I laughed at your light hearted emotes around the issues I absolutely agree that for some players these issues are a continual mare.. not like a lag issue which comes and goes in busy game times/ISP times but just perma there.
I haven’t had these issues myself but have seen and spoke to others that do and its definitely gotten worse.

Personally I really like this current inception of the Living Story, its a demon of a place to get around in order to obtain the achieves but real fun in a nicely designed map (clap to devs) but these game mechanics are spoiling it for many it seems.

Another issue I have been getting is when opening the parachute chests.. the sacks pop out and sink into the floor and become unlootable.. must of had at least a dozen do this in last few hours… add the WP costs and time spent doing these map collectables this kind of scam mechanic is a tad frustrating .

I opened a support ticket as soon as the content was out and I saw that I couldn’t participate, but haven’t had any reply yet.

Its not coming to a close yet.

Cutthroat Politics goes live tomorrow, but all of the Bazaar of the Four Winds content stays active as well. Its like how Dragon Bash kept going even when Sky Pirates was released. The two chapters are going to run concurrently and both will end in August when the next chapter starts.

I thought that was what happened when you tried to loot one that you’d already looted recently. Not sure how long a timeframe it is, but I know every time I’ve popped open one that I had looted recently, I didn’t get any bags, they just sank into the floor like that.

that’s the thing though. i’ve realized after every patch, my lag jumps considerably. when Bazaar first came out, the skills were nuts for me. i could make it up to the ship, but couldn’t race. i’d repeat the same jump over and over and for the bits where you HAD to use lightning pull (#3), i would just be stuck there until the race clock ran its course.

then come last weekend, i.e. 2 weeks after the last major patch was released, i was able to lpay with a LOT less lag and jumps actually put me where i’d expect it to (most of the time). then recently, it’s been starting to lag again – maybe because of the new incoming patch? something’s going on server side? i’m unsure of how these thigns work down to the technical details so i’m merely going by anecdotal evidence…

which is okay, since i decided to wait a bit and the gameplay actually got a LITTLE better. the only thing is, which the OP mentioned, is that a lot of this content is for a limited time. and if they keep pumping out new content every 2 weeks, that means there’s constant patching, thus not allowing the server/system/client to “recompose” itself. again, as you can tell, i’m not very technical.. but i just realized every time after patch, certain movements skills don’t perform well.

other parts of the game, other than in WvW with 60+ 3 way battles, i don’t experience any lag. didn’t ahve any problems with SAB or DB launch pads, unless, agani, if it was right after a patch.
