Yesterday I’ve seen the current AP required for each piece of Radiant and Hellfire skins, which are 3000 AP for gloves, 6000 for shoulder pads and 9000 for helmets.

Now, while I hardly agree with the costs, why aren’t we allowed to choose which piece of the armor to get first? Some of us may prefer getting the helm, or the shoulder pads before the gloves.
I suggest to change this before we actually get to the 3000 AP chest.

Gotta work from the bottom up (hah, get it, cause you’re getting achievements and the items you get first are lower placed).

And under which criteria gloves are worth less than an helmet or shoulder pads? On token cost for dungeons these pieces are usually worth the same amount.

It takes time, but it is possible. The great thing about achievements is that there is one for everything. I can’t go a day without earning atleast 10 achievement points. Plus you got jumping puzzles and other fun things you can do. It is true that others are rather..grindy (cough slayer cough), but its possible.

That too is true. Hands can be elevated on top of the head.

Im happy with this order. Dont want a helm as they look bad, just like most helms in this game. I think the radiant gloves and shoulders might look good on my mesmer. This order actually suits most players better. Everyone displays their gloves, most people display their shoulders and barely anyone displays a helmet unless its a ghostly mask or something.

I’m happy that the gloves are at 3k. Shoulder pads are universally ugly in every game that include them and I like to hide the helmets to show my face :p

But I prefer the shoulders. See, your opinion =/= everyone’s opinion. That’s why the OP suggested they can give us the option to chose.

Works for me considering thats the order I would want them in, but I’m not really sure why there is a set order in the first place.

Ahah, I didnt think of this. This might be an issue. Cant say I care that much personally, hellfire looks awful and radiant is only semi decent.

Wanting both sets is a good point, otherwise its fine with me that it will take some time. I’m tired of instant gratification rewards that are all given the day they come out.

Jesus Christ. This patch is a nightmare for people who enjoy their AP grind in peace. Now AP acts like a currency and there will be tons of QQ about it becouse people will want their unlocks now or else bad things happens. Just play the game, you will get them in time.

How many people have 6k achievement points ? it’s ludacris to add shoulders at that price.. and 9k for the helmet ? They hardly add any new armor items in the game and now they add 3 by 3 and we need to pick only one ? Sounds great

Only reason there’s a fixed order in which you unlock the armor pieces is bragging rights. If you have one of those helmets, it means everybody can see you have over 9K achievement points. It’s pretty much the only thing in game that shows how dedicated a player you are and I guess that satisfies some people’s needs. If (like me) you don’t have 9K achievement points, you (and I) can stick to a wide selection of other fire themed helmets so I guess we gotta get an alternative or wait. I’m fine with either.

The issue… as it almost universally is… is not just a we want things now. AP’s are not a linear currency. If I want to buy a skin I can farm money and expect the same rate of return. With AP’s once I finish my jump puzzles… thats all, they are done. I can never repeat them to get points. At the current pace while yes, the low level rewards are pretty easy to get, to get up to the 15-20k required (at current figurative pacing) we will be playing this game a very long time trying to grind dailies to get enough points.

But please, go ahead and say everything is a matter of entitlement…

They’re releasing Living Story every 2 weeks, right? And each Living Story comes with a couple of hundred AP. You don’t have to just rely on dailies.

I know I’m bummed. I was looking forward to those radiant shoulders. Guess I’ll be working on my APs more.

LS is ~200 per part, so ~400 per month.

Dailies are 390 per month if you do every daily (pvp and pve).

Monthlies are 110 per month if you do pvp and pve.

~900 AP per month.

I’m hoping someone was just trolling gw2wiki since i cant find anything else about the ap costs for the helm and shoulders.I guess i will find out at reset.

I checked the leaderboards and less than 400 people can get the helm.If the ap cost turns out to be true there will be a lot of upset players.

You’ll get the helm in due time. No need to get it all instantly really.

Yeah it isn’t going anywhere. And I know I’d rather have something to work towards over time (which a lot of people said about dragon bash coffers).

I wish I could pass on the gloves and helm and just get both shoulders. I have to choose between having complete matching sets for several of my alts, or just getting the shoulders to complete the look of my main (he’s got the lava gloves from the dredge event and he wouldn’t wear the helm anyway). The majority of my alts would look great in a full set of radiant armor, but I’d pass on all of that just to unlock both shoulders.

Most likely at 12k you will get boots, then pants at 15k and finally chest at 18k. And perhaps then they’ll let you get the other set.

But yeah, I kinda figured they would put something in that’s quite high just to get something to “work toward.” Shouldn’t take too long to catch up, I’m at around 6280 I think.

Im going to assume since wiki got the 4k reward correct all of them are legit.guess i wont be changing the look on my mesmer afterall.

OMG, are you serious? Only 400 people will get it in two weeks from now. You will also get it but just a bit later. Just play the game.

It doesn’t look like we’ll be able to get everything according to the wiki. We’ll only have 7 of the zenith skins and 1 set of the armor by 10k. What about all the rest of it? I’m assuming there’d be more past 10k, but how many people have even hit that yet?

They will probably add more tiers in future updates once more people are on 10k+ levels. Also, whats wrong that you cant get your item yet. The amount of “I want it all now” posts on this forum after the AP rewards update is seriously depressing me.

I don’t mind waiting for it. I just want to be sure we can get them eventually and aren’t forced to decide which ones we want most and have to forget all the others. Cuz I do want all of them eventually, don’t care if it takes me years just as long as I can eventually get it.

So just wait. Considering how AP system is built in this game, it is almost certain new reward tiers will be implemented as a features in future patches. Right now is stops at 10k. There are people already who works towards 12k atm. Powergamers will get their unlocks a few weeks or months before others (assuming others will still play the game at least from time to time) and thats it. IMO this whole AP rewards system is a shoot in the foot. Yet another reason for constant QQ streams on forum. They should have never implemented that. They should have also never implemented the AP leaderboards. But hey, thats just me.

Wow here I thought I would get the full set but I’m short for the pauldrons. Guess I won’t be doing this patches content last minute like I usually do.

You do realize that not everyone are able to participate in every temporary content they put out. Doing dailies and monthlies for wvw, PVE AND PvP will not sit very well with casuals either. Optimism is ok but getting 9k points isn’t as easy as you think, considering that only less than 500 hardcore players will qualify. The top achievement earner even only has 11k who has probably been playing since launch. These rewards should cater to all types of players imho. 9k is quite improbable for most people at this point.

Key words being at this point. You are not going to get it now. You are going to get it a bit later. What is wrong with that?

PS. Also pointing out that AP rewards are not exclusive to this patch release. They are here to stay permanently. I thought that this is obvious but yesterday I saw someone on LA chat on my server QQ that he wont be able to get all rewards in two weeks.

Maybe in a few years, yes. I don’t think that’s a very good design for a casual game for casual players.

Few years? How many AP do you have right now? What does “casual game” mean? That you can get all the rewards by playing 2h per week?

The helm is 9k because of this very post (rather, the idea of it). Of course that’s what a lot of people really want. They aren’t going to make the best reward first.

“I think the helm is coolest, I want it first”. Well… duh. A lot of people think it’s coolest, and apparently so does Anet so you have to work for it.
