We need to be able to race friends only.
Because you could all just take turns “winning”, rendering two of the achievements meaningless?
I support this idea, even if the achievement acquisition from the friend/guild-only version run is removed/changed (ie. best guild time achievement). It will still be fun enough to run I think.

I think that’s what it is, to prevent exploiting for easy achievements.
Then again, you can kinda do that now with sPVP… xD
I think they should allow this but take away any achievements and rewards and let people just have fun racing their friends…
Simple, make two ways to do the games. One that’s random and where you get the achievements, another with friends and guildies for no rewards. I’d do them with my guild for absolutely nothing, just for the laughs. But as it stands now, this stuff looks extremely solo friendly and, yet again, falls short on creating a sense of community. Just a bunch of people running around doing their own thing.
I don’t see why they should take away anything (except maybe the top player achievement, but even then…) : you are still doing the race, and making it to the end. The only thing your friends can do to help you is nothing.

Aside from the luck with boosters and luck with lag, you can get on a map, all alone. And some players who are nice enough and got their achievement will let someone else get to first place.
people just dun care.
i tried to open up a discussion but people just ignore it.

wrong, its like trying out for the Olympic 400m and failing then telling the organizers “I just want to race with my friends and still get a gold medal”
If you can pick your competition then you shouldn’t get rewards or achievements.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for having an option of racing with your friends, just with no achievements or rewards attached. Then see how popular that feature is.

people are already giving up races to help others get the achievement.
thing is, these activities would be much more fun with friends (as multiplayer activities tend to be), and ANet keeps denying them their potential because of achievements.
just block progression in certain achievements when playing with friends. it’s a waste of potential.
on a side note, props for sanctum sprint, it’s the first minigame i found myself coming back to and having fun, even with its rough edges.
Being able to play with your friends in an online game is more important than the internet points associated with it. Custom and private games in PvP scenarios has been needed for every PvP event since the beginning.
Such a simple thing and it will create a world of new options for players, and get more people playing. Guilds will be able to organize outings, and more players will be able to have a good time.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”

Cute, as if that achievement is worth anything. As if strangers are incredible racers and your friends will let you.
As for the rewards : if you take 1 or 7 minutes to get to the end, you still get the achievement. Friends or not.

If they removed the ability for you to gain anything out of it then sure. However I firmly believe that in order to acquire the title, or anything from the race past fun, aka loot and achievement credit, you should have to play against other people.
I started this activity a few hours ago, miserably failed my first three games then figured out the stuff and get anywhere from first place to third on average. None of them using shortcuts myself, a few of my third places were 2nd places but someone decides to abuse the end wall and win. I’ve now just resorted to reporting them if I see them wall jumping and calling them out in map chat. Probably not the most subtle, or ethical of ways, but this is a problem that needs to be dealt with.
The problem with a lot of people is they feel they should just be able to have the achievements without actual competition or having to get better to acquire something of desire. I.E World of Warcraft post 3.0.
People like that are the exact reason that despite having my achievement, I continue to steal first place in races. I feel if they want the title, they should either play through various lobbies to finding a race they can get first in, or get better to earn their title like I did. I have no sympathy for cheaters, or people that take the easy way.
But aside from the first place achievement, there isn’t any other achievement tied to doing good in this race. You can take the maximum amount of time to get to the top and get every other achievement plus the chest.
I think we’ve all seen in previous mini-games that collaboration happens regardless.
Preventing us from playing them with our friends is not preventing that. (Other technical means might prevent it, but ANet doesn’t seem to see it as a problem at all.)
And I can’t think of any other reason.

Should be an item you can buy ingame for 100g, like the infinite Belchers Bluff.
Except you can’t get the achievements through the item version.

Over the top strawman defense 5000! That is an over the top example much akin to when people bring in Hitler and the kitten’s for many other things. The two things are so different it isn’t even comparable.
