So, 9 Eternitys just disappeared from the trading post. There were 12 of them with the lowest listing at 4400g, now only 3. Massive buyout or just a random fluctuation?

Yea, I saw that too. I’ve been checking them every day and it went from 12 listings to 3 in just a few minutes. That’s roughly 50,000 gold, so I’d bet money that it’s related to some shady transactions and/or bots. I think Anet should actually look into something this significant.

They could have been sold, the buyer could have pull them from sale, or a combination of the two.

Maybe a really generous rich person bought them all to gift to poor strangers in random acts of kindness?

…well, maybe not.

But just in case, I’d like to mention that I’m too poor to craft a legendary for any characters on my account, but my Mesmer would look awesome with a shiny new greatsword!

Just because someone has 50k gold on hand or 9 Eternities, doesnt mean that something shady is going on.

With new craftable precursors being speculated to be introduced soon, this might be a smart move, if you have the bank roll. If new Legendaries get introduced at the same time, the buyer might be shafted but otherwise the price for full Legendaries might spike while the price of precursors stays the same. That has to do with all the mats involved in legendary crafting to spike at the same time.

If they introduce craftable precursors, their ingredients will be heavily leaning to account bound mats, possibly being rewarded retroactively for certain achievements like achievement chests, story mode or map completion, wvw or pvp ranks, etc. That will mean that people that have been playing for a long time will be able to craft a precursor nearly instantly, resulting in alot of legendaries being crafted at the same time, draining t6 mats etc. out of the economy.
So the cost for all the gifts will rise more than the precursor prices will fall, if the crafted ones are tradeable in the first place and not account bound.

Personally, i would have the bank roll to buy a couple of dozen Legendaries, if i sold my assets and could buy one every week, if I would grind the TP seriously every day.
And i think that buying a Legendary is a smart move, economically, right now. But i dont do it because first of all, i dont like the fact that Legendaries are tradeable in the first place (should be account bound like ascended gear), and if I would do it, i would have all my bets on a couple of horses and would just have to wait. As I like playing the TP on a day to day basis, that would take out alot of fun out f my gamtime.

You have to post a pic of your mesmer before a possible donor could decide about gifting one to you.

I’m so glad I don’t like any of the legendary greatswords. They go for silly money and seem to only be hoarded by those who have far too much money :-/

Saying it and reporting your own post to the mods for whatever reason you might deem infractable, will put the ball in their half. Whenever I am not sure, if my post violates the EULA or CoC, i report it myself, asking mods to jidge about it.

That way, i never got an infraction and i cant even think of a post of mine that got deleted.

Alternatively, a goldseller was banned and its accounts, including everything associated to those accounts, got destroyed. I really hope it was that.

Looks like someone also dumped about 20 of every precursor on the buyers market last night. Worked for me since I was putting in a buy order for dawn just as it was going down and saved 160g off the sell price.

To elaborate on that, i dont deny that it might have been a single account to have bought out all eternites or sell alot of precursors at one time but that doesnt mean that they control the market. Hundreds, if not thousands of precursors get introduced into the economy every day and dozens of indivudial legendaries get sold every day.

I’d be surprised if a given server sees 5 a day.
100 per day you may be right, across all servers, but thousands, highly doubtful.

These numbers are an estimate by me and i cant prove it. But 5 per day per server? I have had days where my guild alone got more than 5 per day.
With more than 50 servers it only needs 20 per server to be in the thousands per day.
But my point was anyways that a single person or guild cant control the precursor or legendary market by its own because the new supply is far too high.

On a related note, what is the deal with certain precursors? Yesterday I was I notified that a lot of people were getting their buy orders filled for precursors, such as Spark/Dawn. If I recall there was a 200g price spread on these, which I don’t think was the case for quite some time!

Of course, Dusk price dropped but the price spread was still minimal <100g

I presume people are selling their precursor stock anticipating precursor crafting in 4 weeks?

When precursor crafting is introduced, prices will plummet for an hour or so. Then, after people realize how much of a grind it will be, prices will skyrocket. Since we’re not sure when this update will hit and can’t plan a vacation day, I’m prepared to call in sick from work. I need to make some money back to cover my recent losses.

This sounds great. I’ve been in a situation where I really don’t want to spend 600g on my precursor, but if I could get it for 300g I think I’d be down. Maybe I’ll add a buy listing and see if I get lucky, heh.

Yeah this was something I considered. I have more than enough gold to hold several precursors, and I truly trust John Smith/Izzy to design such a system to not tamper with the current precursor market too much.

The big thing that concerns me, however, is the demand side for these old precursors.

With newer legendaries, will people really be inclined to go after the old ones? I’m leaning towards supply outweighing demand.

What if they introduce a Tier 2 Legendary, where you use an existing one, and upgrade it? Like a T2 Dreamer bow turns you into a Unicorn mount? Old Precursors would be largely in demand.

My hunter has been sitting for a few days now. There seems to be some movement on them. 2-3 listed below me, then it drops to my price and a few more get listed.

Could very well be that the cheaper precursors soar but the expensive precursors crash. A fixed material cost for all precursors will inevitably average things out.

That being said the average price is currently undervalued IMO.
