Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic

Stop raging.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Wanze, I generally like your posts, but this is a legit bug so don’t be a jerk. Gem store items should have NO level requirement, and this one did not before the patch.
Black Lion Salvage Kits have a lvl 15 restriction too.
Don’t worry!
New Gem Store Item:
Level Restriction Unlock: Allows one item to be used regardless of level restrictions, only 1000 gems! Coming to a gem store near you!

Sigh… He is right.
I overreacted, but I was so excited about this patch and so eager to make a new character (I even spent the last days trying to defending ArenaNet of all the hate toward this patch). So when I found this, it was a total let down.

I’m guessing because whites and blues don’t have upgrades to recover so why would you need anything better than crude. And you don’t get that until Level 12.

o_O…
Maybe they screwed it again and now the CFSoM works as a BLSK (last time, it worked as a master salvage kit)?
I recall getting better things the last time I use it (after the patch), but my char was only lvl 42 so I only recycle crap. Still, I got 1 rare essence, better mats and a sigil.
However, since I delete it, now I can’t check :/

You can’t salvage anything till level 12 anyways.

The level chart in the wiki says crude kits unlock at 12. Gathering unlocks at 9.

I salvaged stuff while in the starter instance at level one after the patch today. I was using crude salvage kits I got from key running previously.
The level chart in the wiki says crude kits unlock at 12. Gathering unlocks at 9.
I gathered copper ore at level 6. I salvaged with crude kits in the story instance at level one.
Then maybe they don’t introduce salvage to a player until 12. But if you know about it …
So what’s up with Copper-Fed then? It’ll be a couple of hours until I can test it.
RIP City of Heroes
Just chatting in map. Seems this is an intended change
I’ll just have to use my silver-fed-salvage-o-matic :/

These changes to low levels is…. is…. I have no words to describe how bad they are atm.
Let me apologize, I was scrolled down from the header on the leveling page and you get the crude kit as a REWARD at 12. You are told about gathering at 9. My bad.
And the Copper-Fed SK is labeled as a basic reward so it’s not like we got locked out because it was behind a quality lock.

“You have just made my 6 year old son cry.”
those sum up some of the changes pretty well.

the leveling curve has apparently been made a lot easier for those lower levels, how much time would you really be spending below them now anyway?
Wait, what? Gathering is locked till level 9? Salvaging is locked till level 12? O.o
What the…??
At the very least, these restrictions should be lifted for veteran players. >.>

After 3h38m I’m lvl 14. So yes, the change is beyond stupid but is not really game breaking.

They aren’t really locked. If you have gathering tools or a normal salvage kit, you can gather/salvage right away.
There is no merchant with gathering tools or salvage kits in the starting zones so it’s more like a “fake” lock (aimed to really new players).
And that’s why the change to the CFSoM is just stupid.

I seriously can’t believe they added a stealth level requirement to a gemstore item. What is the kitten point of this change?

Because we can’t be angry about both?
Open a support ticket and demand a refund. If it’s a bug, they’ll tell you so and are now aware of it and will work to fix it. If it’s intended, you get your gems back. Everyone’s happy.

I don’t want my gems, I want the item I paid for.

Salvaging, Gathering and Vistas are fake unlocks. You can salvage, gather and use vistas just fine from level 1, so the level 15 requirement of the copper-fed is plain BS. I bought one especially for alts I make …
On a side note. Even the skill point lock is fake. You just need a higher level char to trigger the event … Might come in handy, if you don’t like the default heal skill of your profession, e. g. Mesmer.

This… really… I don’t even know what to say. Why level-block everything? WHY? :’-(

On a related note, has anyone else noticed that the CFSoM’s (and possibly the SFSoM, although I don’t have one) random lines is now almost inaudible?

I have, ever since the feature patch rolled out. If I hear anything at all, it seems to be limited to the first syllable of a word. There is a thread regarding this issue in the “Game Bugs” sub-forum.

I actually bought several copper-fed for my alts that never will become over level 10. I planned to park them at certain jumping puzzles because I’m not good at jumping. For e.g., Dark Reverie. Just for the convenience of not needing to carry copper stuff when they will be gathering the occasional ore node. Now I find they are all useless. Lol.
This opens a precedence of an existing Gemstore item being nerfed. Based on this—my faith in the store has gone down, and chances are I will be leaving this game anyway. Not feeling like playing at all after all the nerfs that were unannounced prior to this Feature Pack. I had been very excited, now I’m totally disillusioned. Sigh… What do you say when a company advertizes a car with a certain engine then is able to change it to a lesser one, with no responsibility to the customers who purchased it based on their ad-stated ability.
Your customers made decisions based on your ad.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Reminds me of EQ over again. How many times expansions were announced with all sorts of “exciting improvements”, then the nerf bat swings out from the left field. Whoa… I’m getting too old for this.
Fool me once, shame on me.

While it doesn’t fix your problem with the CFSoM (and quite legitimate complaint, IMO), one workaround that might be available to you is WvW (or even EotM).. You can pop in either one of those and pick up salvage kits (and/or hit a merchant to sell stuff), then when you exit you’re right back where you were at the Jumping Puzzle. Buy 10 salvage kits at a time and you only have to go pick up new ones once a month or so.

I agree. Where do I apply for my gem refund? I’m serious, I paid for this and ANet is not delivering what I paid for. I deserve my money back.

Thanks for the kind tip!
To Anet management: One reason I buy gemstore items is to support ANet revenue…. GW2 has been my favorite Mmorpg, and I wanted to see it thrive. But this kind of business practice does not feel supportive to me, so I will indeed just stop purchasing things. I’m not looking for a refund. A refund only works once. I want to see what the company policy is. It can impact the future. This is why I am quite interested in this issue atm.
I do admire the gem refunds automatically offered to players who bought multiple commander tags. There is nothing said about how ANet may or may not offer refund for copper-fed. The problem could be just a data entry bug. Time will tell. I’m patiently waiting to see what will happen.

So no bug after all -_-
At least is gone… Next time please “think” before make another stupid/unnecessary change. It gets hard to support or defend you when you do moves like this.
-ArenaNet
It was probably an unintended bug since the CFSoM is based off the Basic Salvage Kit (which presumably is unlocked at level 12). But yeah, this is something that should have been caught in QA.
I’m glad this was changed back. Thanks, anet!

Thank you, ANet!
