Haunted Gramophone & Gobbler in gemstore
Uh another Halloweenupdate so instead of 1 big halloween update we get 2 small updates, thats cool
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
@kokiman they’re not two small updates, the Halloween patch was on the 21st, this is just new stuff in the gemstore, don’t be expecting a small patch with new content tonight
holy candy corn sink!
Charr Ranger of the Iron Legion
Great, a 300 and 600 gem items and nothing for 400 or 800. Awesome. Also where is the vinyl from the gramophone. This ain’t a gramophone just a box and a speaker. It could go very nice with my Moot and Minstrel.
Again poor execute.
Not going to buy.

I was being sarcastic

I’ve had the home instance candy corn node for a long time. Finally, something to do with that other than selling when it’s not Halloween!
I just noticed the buffs stack on this item. They start out at 15 minutes each… in a matter of minutes I got 2+ hrs worth of a few of the buffs. I’d say worth it.
Do these Buffs replace/get replaced by normal boosters or can you have both?

This.
Do the buffs from the Gobbler stack in effect or duration with booster buffs?
If I have a gemstore armor buff, will the gobbler either add to it in effect or make it last longer before expiring? What about magic find? If I get magic find from a bonfire, will this make the MF las longer or increase my total MF?

If you get the same buff from the gobbler it extends the duration of existing buffs making them last longer.
What transformations can you get from the Gobbler? Just Candy Corn Golem, or can you get all of the Halloween tonic transformations?
The Gobbler looks pretty cool, though I don’t tend to boon up so much. The Gramophone is a disappointment because it’s just a set of 10 sound clips, not a playable instrument or jukebox-like item as I thought it might be. Even as an avid roleplayer I’m having trouble thinking of many ways I’d want to use those sounds. I do like the touch they added of having little pops and hisses; I grew up with LP’s and have heard actual gramophones used as well in LARPs set in the 20’s and 30’s.
It’s a shame the Gramophone is so silent though. I was thinking about using it while telling SPOOKY STORIES FROM BEYOND THE MISTS!© OOOoooOOoOOOooooo~ waterphone

All halloween transformations

It’s the same with the SAB boomboxes. I lost count how many people requested them being louder but alas, even though we got that “we’re looking into it” post nothing happened. At maxed out instrument sound those boom boxes are not as loud as a flute and not even half as loud as the trumpet…
It’s also a shame those 10 clips are less than 1min long. I remember our LPs going for hours. Even more if you switched sides .-. So far I think this item is grossly overpriced for what if offers – It doesn’t even loop the stuff, it’s simply gimmicky soundeffects :<
I think boosts on Gobbler are way too random. For instance, I spent a stack of CC on it, gave me over 9 h of WvW xp boost, but only 15 mins of MF. It shouldnt rlly be like this…
EDIT: Okay, I spent another stack of candy corn and it seems that gobbler prioritize wvw xp booster. Can we get and clarification on this maybe? And also, its abit annoying when transform occurs for 5-6 times in a row

Lol haven’t they made a topic about rng and almost everyone was saying no to rng? Now we get another rng item `-`
How about an option to spend 30 candy corn (3*10 boosters) and get all the boosts? Maybe we could keep the 1 randon costing 3 and all costing 30, 40, 50 ?
Grammophone:
I’m surprised that it doesn’t have the music from the devourer event – it’s my favourite sound in GW2.
ANet, have you considered offering an item that plays moody environmental sounds (both the rolling thunder and the mad scientist lab would work for this) in the home instance? Not an inventory item, a permanent installation. I’d buy that.

This Gobbler is a great item. It makes a great sink for all my candy corn. In this case I don’t mind the randomness, as you are getting a great deal for your candy corn, due to the boosts stacking. But I wish there wasn’t a cool down on the feeding.
Not buying until the purchasing/exchanging gems store is fixed to allow us/me to buy and/or exchange gole for the exact amount of the items.
Gobbler is awesome, I wish the gramophone would however cycle the sounds a bit faster…honestly surprised the grammophone costs 600 and the gobbler only 300.
I like the gobbler well enough but I could do without as many cycles through transformations to get to the boosters, since that’s what I really want. I’ve already got a bunch of transformation tonics. And having the boosters random on top of that with WvW boost being a primary boost is another annoyance.
So, it’s ok. Not great but ok.
ANet does <3 it’s RNG… :/
I second Akuni.8604 post. Gramophone I love but to me it follows the same issue as the Super Boombox, the volume is way lower than any of the instruments on sale and to be honest is virtually inaudible. For a gem store purchase at 600 gems, I would have expected and hoped an item to be louder so it can be heard clearly, especially as living world areas have all sort of louder sound effects from the likes of free costume contest tonics etc . It would be nice to have such music players to have louder volume.
PS Akuni, I smiled when you mentioned LP’s. Being a huge vinyl junkie I appreciated that one. So Anet lets have less tinny ipod sound and more volume cranked to 11 through massive subs please
( 11 being the reference to Spinal Tap, how many remember that movie? )

I purchased the gramophone - and that was some immediate buyer’s remorse. :/
I really, really wish I hadn’t done that!
The Gramophone is pretty cool for roleplayers. I could see someone using it to add atmosphere for some “dinner parties” or “stage plays”.
Not as thrilled about the Candy Corn Gobbler. The buffs are OK, but I’m not paying out 1 – 3 silver (depending on CC prices) for a random buff, especially when it could result in a useless transformation. Besides, I already have boosters galore from AP chests and the odd Black Lion Chest anyway.
i bought the gobler on impulse to see if the magic find buff would stack like the new food
well, the boosts you get are in fact boosts and so the answer is it does not.. it just replaces the need to use a magic find booster for you.. you do get a good Variety of buffs though, that are all simultaneously usable, gethering, speed even protection.. it may take half a stack of candy corn to get the buff you want though and the price will inevitably get gouged after holiday z_z

Yes I totally agree! The Gobbler should cost 400 gems and the Haunted Gramophone should cost 800 gems!

So we are complaining that gem store items are too cheap now? lol.
The issue i have is this gobbler doesn’t eat fast enough, the 5 sec cool down is a little annoying when you want to click through 100 candy corn quickly. Other than that it’s a cool way to sink some candy corn out of the economy.
Does character level affect the gobbler boons? I seem to get mostly transformations with a level 20, whereas with an 80 it appearsmore often to give me the boons.
Only one it might is the Regeneration booster. Everything else is non-scaling stats.
