Stupidly Low Drop Rate of Chaos of Lyssa
i doubt people would sell them at 1150g…. after the events over it will be the rarest item in game, someone could probably sell for 10k or even more
Unless, of course, ANet tweaks the drop rate or adds them to the vendors.
I see one on the TP .. 999 Gold

If I had the recipe I would sell it now. Anet will never make an item that rare, especially with the outrage that would follow.

Yeah, i am pretty sure that some people who got it as a drop dont have the gold for the listing fee.
I can’t say it or else I’ll get banned once again ;_;

Why is there a buy order for 1 5 0 0 ? ? ?

Why is there a buy order for 1 5 0 0 ? ? ?
Someone has more dollars than sense?
Someone who has a lot of gold and wants to make sure his order is filled… believe it or not, some people know the difference between real and fake money.
Why is there a buy order for 1 5 0 0 ? ? ?
xanthium of dreams is 1500g now? When it dropped for me it was only around 100g minus taxes Which I would have kept it, but I didnt expect it to be rare because I got it on first run
Its not worth it to farm.
Get a load of this,

Considering each bag costs a entrance ticket its simply not worth it.

I had the same experience last night. I did over 350 bags in one sitting. 1 Favor and the rest @ 1 token per bag.
I made the mistake of destroying all my tickets from last time, I spent all the tickets I had/could buy and got nothing from the drops.

I’m not surprised Anet has ignored this topic entirely. Either they’re on vacation or just don’t give 2 cabbages about us. My guess is it’s the latter.
It’s pretty ridiculous this item is on par with precursor sort of drop rates. Quite frankly I’m sick of Anet making items this uberly rare for something which really shouldn’t be due to its counterparts (light of dwayna & shadow of grenth).
It’s like a permanent hairstylist contract V2 scenario. No one can get it, and it ain’t fun.
I opened 750 chances, nothing good.
BTW the 2500g one got sold.
ANet isn’t ignoring the thread – the game speaks for itself.
The recipe is RARE. The most plausible speculative rarity I’ve seen (about 1/2000) ain’t “Precursor rare” by about 3-4 orders of magnitude.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

This is what I am worried about most. Could we please get some clarification as to whether the droprate and availability of this recipe is currently functioning as intended?

Other than people’s unfulfilled lust for them what possible reason do you have to think it’s not working as intended?

You left a few zeroes off there…
Only if you’ve had a run of 8,000 bags and no luck. For every person that gets one in the first twenty, there’s someone who won’t get one opening 4,000. And odds approach 100% the second guy will come on here to complain .
There have ben large-scale tests of the MF rates for precursors, and in the case of them dropping directly from mobs, one in 2-5 million doesn’t seem at all implausible.

You seem to have no idea just how rare this drop is.
You open 8,000 bags already?

The bigger issue is that we never get a response back in time for these limited time patches.
If the response comes, it is in the last few days of an event, lets look at the final scarlet event. 3 watchwork knights achievement was bugged for nearly 2 weeks and it was finally fixed 4 days prior to this event……
Now if Anet fixes the drop rate or admit that it is was way too low, this will upset the people who purchased the recipe for 1000+ gold…
The longer they wait to respond, the worse this situation becomes.
We need the developers of the current content to be actively addressing bugs/issues as they come up when their respective patch goes live.
They are obviously not playing their own content, look at what happened in Aspect Arena on the first day….
I feel like this game is still in beta….

Your willful ignorance has gotten to the point of trolling. The droprate is most likely worse than 1 in 100,000.
Since the Festival end date is now fixed at July 1st, I’m hoping that we’ll see this addressed before it goes away.
My three preferred solutions (I’d be happy with any one of the three):
1. Increase the drop rate of the Chaos of Lyssa recipe to 2% from a Gauntlet Chance, and 10% from beating Liadri.
2. Allow people to trade 250 Gauntlet tickets for a recipe.
3. Allow people to trade a Favor of the Festival for a recipe.

I don’t think trading gauntlet tickets would be fair to those that actually tried the gauntlet with their tickets. I do agree with your other 2 ideas though. I am actually saving a favor of the festival in hopes that they do add it as a purchase option, although I highly doubt we will see any changes in the current event. Maybe next year.
I’ve opened up over 3000 bags and I’ve gotten like 15 favors and that’s all
2 recipes got bought out for 2k+ :$
Am I the only one that doesn’t even think that it looks good? That’s the least appealing of the god-themed back items, imo.

I think it looks ok. My problem with the whole crappy drop rate is that I have collected every recipe that is from events. I can’t get this one though.

Same here. I have the other two Gods’ recipes even if I haven’t had the funds to make either and I was hoping to get this one too, but no way will I pay more than 20g (tops) for one.

Actually, I’d say a few favours, but this would be a good way of doing it because it means that you will have have had to open quite a few chances, but it evens out your odds and you can actually make progress towards it.
This is what I am worried about most. Could we please get some clarification as to whether the droprate and availability of this recipe is currently functioning as intended?

Well I don’t have proof of how many recipes have dropped but I’ve been carefully watching the TP along with a large number of friends that play the game. Based on that, it seems that the total number that have passed through the TP is much smaller than 100 and my own guess would be that it isn’t more than 20.
TP tracking sites that I am aware of (spidy and tp.net) have not been able to display any metadata on the item and in the actual in game TP, the displayed price is frozen at 999g until you inspect the entry.
So if you consider that the ENTIRE game population has been opening gauntlet chances since the Gauntlet was reopened. (I cannot even fathom how many gauntlet chances that could be total) And the total number of recipes present in the game has caused it’s rarity to allow it to be valued as the most expensive item in the game outside of a full legendary weapon (or the hallowed Perma Hairstyle).
So yes, since you seem to be legitimately questioning the fact, I do believe this item is hyper-rare beyond simply the lust of players for a desirable item.
And given that the droprate is so exceptionally small, it seems highly unlikely that ANET intended for a LS backpiece of this context (continuation of Dwayna, Grenth line) to be so rare. So it seems more likely that the droprate will be adjusted before the Gauntlet closes thereby crashing the TP value of this recipe and completely devaluing the recipes that players currently possess or have unlocked.
Therefore we really need some clarification from an ANET representative that the item is in fact as rare and as valuable as it is currently.
Maybe people who get them are holding on to them in order to sell after the event is over. Or even (gasp!) using them.
If they are going to fix the recipe, which I hope they don’t, it wont be until june 3rd when they patch in the WvW season 2 vendor.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

What make you think Tuesday is the special day?

That would be when the vendor for WvW tournament gets implemented, presumably this would be also when any changes COULD be made too the drop rate, assuming it is a bug and not intentional.

Honestly, I am waiting for a Balthazar themed back piece. Most of my character’s armors are based around fire themed dyes so purple, white, and green do not go very well with them.
