Has anyone noticed that when you get booted for inactivity, you get sent to your character select screen. However, when you log back in from the character select screen, the trading post never works? You have to log all the way back out of the game and log back in for it to start working again.

It’s really annoying, I think they should fix this… I’ve had this problem since the game has been released.

I think they should leave it. It’s hard enough to make money on the TP without making it easy for botters.

Not saying you are botting, but this does sound like an anti-botting measure.

No they shouldn’t leave it. It’s annoying. I’m not botting (I’d be the poorest bot in the world if I was)… it’s annoying. My game takes too long to load up. And I doubt it’s an anti botting feature since you see a huge ERROR message on the TP when I log back in. It is annoying.

I have never noticed this and I tend to get booted for inactivity fairly often.

This happens to me also. I posted about it some time ago, then it stopped happening for a few weeks but in the last few days, it’s come back again.

A few people have reported in my post it happens to them as well. I’ve never related it to being afk though as it seems to happen randomly to me. But yea very annoying especially if you’re in middle of crafting and trying to buy mats from TP.

The simple solution would be not to go afk.

Like I said, I wasn’t trying to imply you bot it, I just think it might be deliberately that way to stop the people who are botting.

As for a solution to the issue, I’ve been messing with the TP for a few days, and if I know I’ll be gone or alt-tabbed for more than a few minutes I log out to the character select screen, then back in. It doesn’t take long at all and the only time I had an issue was I had to move around to select an NPC one time today. Usually it’s no trouble.

You realize botters could just automate relogging in, or just make a macro to keep themselves from getting kicked to character select, right?

This only inconveniences legit players.

The “Sell” tab of trading post never works for me on first login. I have to exit the client totally and re-login in order to get it working. Most of the time it works on the second re-login. Sometimes, it doesn’t work no matter how many times I tried to re-login.

However, it SELDOM works on first login.

I am surprised that GW2 trading post faced so much issues in its implementation, right from the second GW2 launched. I have never encountered in any games where their auction house/trading post is EVER an issue.

Anti-botting measure? That is a weak excuse to cover the incompetencies of those behind the implementation of the trading post. Sorry if this sounds offensive to those dev. I am just calling a black kettle black. I did not go beyond just stating a fact.

Go look at Eve trading post and WoW auction house features, responsiveness, scale and stability. An alpha version of Eve trading post would have beaten GW2 trading post hands on on all aspects.

People don’t realize that inconveniencing botters is nigh impossible. Furthermore, most botters never go inactive. Ever. So it would be a non issue for botters.

The thing is I was never afk when it happened to me.

I have had it when you leave your account AFK overnight. It needs more than a few hours (for me). Happens even when I go character screen. Only relogging the client will fix it. I have reported many times, but the problem remains.

If you want it as bot protection, I don’t know how cos these guys will show active, then you ll have to make it such that you ll have to relog. Or just fix it, not something half in the middle.

You ll have to logout completely each time you go AFK. Its a bug, it needs to be fixed. But, yes, it probably doesn’t have the highest priority.

I wonder if they even have it on the radar though. I remember having huge and popular threads in the beta reporting bugs, and it went ignored until some random poster on a reddit AMA metioned it and they were like… “OH WOW! Thanks for that, I’ll report it asap”…

All I could think was… there was a HUGE thread in your beta forums on that very issue…

Ok this bug has returned for me in the last month. Like today, first time i got to use TP and i get this “Error Invalid Authorization”. It’s been happening almost every day for the past few weeks, I don’t understand why it keeps coming back at me, when i hardly use TP these days.

A fix would be very much appreciated. Thanks

PS. I wasn’t afk either as the title of this topic seems to imply.

Yeah, this is getting ridiculous. This bug has been here since beta and it continues to make me waste my time restarting the game over and over and over. So many countless bugs…

I don’t mind it if it inconveniences botters. It happens to me all the time because I sometimes go to WvW for the bank, and you get kicked sooner there for inactivity.

So you’re suggesting that they shouldn’t fix the bug?

There is also another bug associated with this, that doesn’t allow me to put stuff on the auction house in rapid succession. I keep getting an Error, and I have to close the interface and open it again.

I haven’t been having this problem myself.
I know the TP does bug out every once in a while, but usually closing the window and waiting a few seconds before trying again seems to fix it.

Although still, it probably shouldn’t be bugging out at all.
