Just noticed after patch gold to gems price dropped almost 3g o.o, does anyone know what caused this drop? :o

I dunno what are you talking about, I think they just dropped a little, maybe about 50s?

Went from 1g getting you 9 gems yesterday to getting 17 gems now, maybe someone or a group of people spent a large amount of money on gems and converted it all to gold?

Either way, shame it didn’t happen a few days ago, I could have saved quite a bit buying gems, haha.

I noticed this too. O.o Part of it might be the bandwagon effect (“Gem→Gold price is dropping! Quick, I’d better sell while prices are still high’ish!”), but I really can’t think of any solid reason as to why there might be a sudden sell-off of gems…

Unless… Lots of people bought gems for the new finisher/BLKeys and then sold off whatever excess they had left after their purchase?

It hasn’t been this low since last year so I stocked up.

Personally, I think a lot of the TP listing fee exploiters got burned (rightly so) and lost a lot of their invested products by selling them for vendor prices. Before they noticed what it was that they were doing I’m sure they gave away quite a large chunk of their accumulated wealth. Due to this, they probably had to convert their stockpiled gems to gold (or buy a bunch with cash to convert real quick) to build up their bankroll again real fast due to having lost it all. I’m not saying this is the entire cause for the sudden bulk gem > gold conversion, but I’m sure it accounts for some of it.

Well, some guildies of mine were noticing the gem price being screwy after patches involving TP. Might be resetting the ratio somehow each time they do. Or just the shown price, not sure was never able to test it properly.

Whatever it was, converted all my gold to gems as soon as I saw this thread. Little late but still got a great deal, saving about 50g. It’s already gone back up to not worth it only one hour later.

And I missed it… I’ve been non stop monitoring the gold>gem rate, waiting for a good deal, but it ALWAYS happens when i’m not there lol. Either way i’ll get what i want sooner or later

Yeah, it’s back up about 10g for 100 gems rate again. Keep on rising! jangles his bags of gems eagerly

there use to be, not long after the gems sale for free Mr. Sparkle promotion, it dropped to 4.5g per 100gems( from 8g), and i immediately bought 10k gems.

this kind of things happen once in a blue moon… and you’ll be lucky to be around when it happens….
