a question about Giant Eye
Don’t give people ideas.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
they come from heavy moldy bags and they drop in cursed shore
more and more people realize they make much more gold with cursed shore farming than with dungeons (eazy 10g per hour or more) when competent comander – just follow
this will reduce price
Trying to corner a market in GW2 usually doesn’t end well for the manipulator. JS has said he’s seen many, many players attempt to do this and fail miserably due to underestimating the sheer size and velocity of the market, even for high-end luxury goods.
I’m certain there’s a huge shadow inventory of Giant Eyes and it’s not the sort of thing whose demand is insensitive to price.
As someone with a lot of experience losing money from buying up the last bit of visible inventory just to see a surge of listings from that spike, I say stay as far away from these as you possibly can.
There was a rumor of them dropping from basilisks. I don’t really want to give fuel to that if untrue, but I noticed that there are lvl 80 basilisks in Dry Top on the cliffs east of the oasis. Has anyone ever gotten an eye to drop from them?
It looks like there’s been a run on Giant Eyes recently. The ones that are left are probably there because they are overpriced.
It’s been tried multiple times in the past, and while the price sustained itself for a day or so, it quickly resorted back to it’s pre-manipulation levels.
The reason is giant eyes have very limited demand, so the only way to keep a high price sustainable is to increase it’s use or somehow have other speculators act as purchasers who sustain the price.
Rest assured, someone bought up nearly all supply on the tp. Lowest Listing around 11g right now, while the highest bid did only move a couple of silver.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Looks like I need to form a farming party to help my guildmate who wants to make immobulus.
This is nuts.
Giants ’ eyes are so rare as to be useless: or increases the chances of getting them or it is better to remove them from the game. :-/
They’re not useless, they have several uses. One of which is needing a full stack of them to make Immobulus. Glad I made mine quite a few months ago, but I do feel bad for anyone wanting to make it now. o.o
They need to actually drop from some enemy. Vet Risen Giants, lvl 80 Basilisks…something needs to drop them rather than being tucked away as a super rare drop from Heavy Moldy Bags.
It was actually just a test. To see how the market was going to react to my post on the forums. On gw2 spidy you can see 2 high peaks on the sell price after I posted this. This kind of prove that people TRY to manipulate stuff.

Of course people try. You don’t need this thread to prove that. That said, if you want to continue this discussion I suggest you screenshot this page and move to another forum. Because this thread will be deleted and you will get an infraction. It’s like robbing a liquor store and saying afterwards that you wanted to see if the police would come – for science, of course.
There’s a reason these forums are not a gray market.
This isn’t even manipulation though; when there’s a clear trend towards higher prices and lower supply, buying up the remaining supply is a gamble that the equilibrium is higher. It’s an attempt to make some money off of accelerating the market. I guess you could consider that manipulation, but it’s a play on market fundamentals.
Of course, what that trend usually means isn’t that there’s a shortage as much as people haven’t been paying attention and have let their shadow inventory build up; the play to accelerate the price gets attention and sucks that shadow inventory out. Which is what I bet happened here.
So I just notice there is less than 120 of it on the TP. Why is it not been manipulated? Just wondering why dont someone just buy all the 120 available (about 400g) and control the entire supply in the market. This item is so rare I got like less than 5 playing for about 2 years so it is unlikely the economy can generate more of those.
We’re waiting for some random guy with a huge inventory to sell to come to the forums and post about them so people start buying them and he can sell his stuff for maximum profit.
What is a grey market?
They’re not useless, they have several uses. One of which is needing a full stack of them to make Immobulus.
I did not say that they are useless, I said we are so rare as to be useless: there is much difference. I know Immobulus, but if to do this item it takes 250 giant’s eyes and the trading company has only 450, then something is not working.
What is a grey market?
Probably means player 2 player trading.

You’re not supposed to drop by the corner market and pick up the ingredients for a priceless ancient artifact whenever the mood strikes you…

The price spike of copper doubloons is a direct result of the living story. People need their sunstone lumps. They’re probably just forging the lower gemstones like crazy, including copper doubloons.
I’m just puzzled this thread is still here. The OP admitted it was only created to see if it would heavily disturb the market, which it did.
to transmute this you dont need copper doubloon and not for 5 silver^^

Buttercup is right.
An item called Grow Lump used to craft the new back pack was released with the patch. This item requires 25 sunstone lumps and a recipe. Someone or some people who were fast and could play the game right when the patch was released bought the recipe, read the ingredients and bought almost all the sunstone lumps from the market. The price spiked from 1s 30c to 25s.
Now, when that happens, usually people find alternative ways of obtaining the item, and in this case you could do it by refining sunstone nugget. However the price of these also spiked a lot so some players started creating sunstone nugget with copper doubloons again increasing their price. That’s what buttercup was referring to.
I made quite a lot of money during this patch. I mean I’m not the guy or guys who bought all the sunstone supply, I was not quick enough, but I bought something very related to it and got a bit of luck too.

I think the point was that you CAN use the copper doubloon, so people bought all of the cheap copper doubloons. This means that the ones that are listed NOW are the older, expensive listings that no one wants.

Exactly, this is the point.
