why the large price difference?
Europe imposes Value Added Tax, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_value_added_tax, which America does not. It’s your government doing this, not ANet.
Plus exchange rate conversion fees.
RIP City of Heroes
got to hate the government didn’t think vat would apply to purchases made on there though but as for the exchange rate fees i already had took them into account when checking that price
$10,-=€9,- inc VAT (from the date the game released), don’t BS me with euro prices.
Got to also remember gem cards in stores in the US are even cheaper with up to 50% discounts from target.
Does seem a lot more expensive in the UK, EU.
I pointed this out when the game first launched so let me reprint it again.

That’s basically the ratio that everyone uses. Just check out the prices for the next gen consoles.
XBox One – $499.99, £429.99, €499.99 – 1 to 0.86 to 1
PS4 – $399, £349, €399 – 1 to 0.875 to 1
GW2 – $50, £42.50, €50 – 1 to 0.85 to 1
It’s to cover VAT, exchange rate fees and currency fluctuation. If anything GW2 favors the UK more than Microsoft or Sony.
As for them paying VAT

Australia here. When I purchase $100 worth of gems (8,000 gems) it actually costs me about $118.. Noticed this over the past 3 months it’s been hanging around the $116-$119 mark.
