1600 Rare Greatsword into the Mystic Forge
I forgot to add I got all my precursor’s from rares. Usually lv 80. All the exotics i got were sold to buy more rares. Unfortunately I didn’t keep track of the numbers, just the amount of gold I spent.

The guy wants his legendary weapon. Apparently that in this game, going on an epic adventure to build your legendary weapon = standing in front of the mystic forge and dumping items.

I’d rather go through a raid and do something epic rather than stand in front of the mystic toilet.Oh really? Please describe in detail a ‘raid’ that could be done that would justify the reward of a precursor and still be difficult enough too keep Legendaries rare.
Do you want the Legendary status gated by behind skill? I’m all for it! I’ll bet you 300g that the community sets this board on fire should that happen.
This is how you do it.
1. Make PvP tournament Fridays. Make Underworld
2. The PvP tournament is European teams vs NA teams only
3. The PvP team with 5 consecutive wins will have the Underworld for there region (NA or US) (Matchmaking system wont allow both regions to have 5 consecutive win streaks by forcing the one with 4 consecutive ones to face the best of the other region but having them wait a long que. If 15 minutes pass (this is enough time to win a game and que up again) and nothing happens that region faces the another team and if they win they steal the Underworld)
4.The Underworld is a massive zone, that has mini bosses that trigger raid events that prevent you from running to the end, it should take 3 hours to complete it and if you don’t start from the beginning with the raid force you’ll have to wait for it to complete or failed so everyone starts over again. So if you fail at event 2 you have to do event 1 all over again. Finishing event 3 will give you the little chest that pops up on your screen and only 1 random person will get a precursor. Also if your region loses 5+ consecutive win streaks than everyone is booted and you cannot enter until your region has the win streak again.
Promotes raiding, promotes hype, promotes pvp, promotes a lot of things.
Notes
1. Have a message saying “such and such from (NA or EU) has won 5 consecutive tournaments in a row”
2. If you won 5 consecutive games its ok to lose but when an enemy region wins 5 games than you lose the Underworld.
3. There should be another leaderboard, and this one contain both EU and NA, the best of the best leaderboard, since these tournaments are special it’ll spice things up because people WANT YOU TO PLAY, being #1 wont mean as much compared to seeing your team name come across everyone screen.
This way a pvp’er feels important, and it could be custom to give them a silver or gold whenever you completely finish the Underworld events because they won those tournaments long enough for you to get all the rewards and loot and you can go through it again and again until Friday is over or when you lose the Underworld, and not only is precursors a good thing but the other loot you get there as well is equally good due to only obtainable on Fridays and when your region is winning the pvp tournaments.
PvP’ers wont feel neglected and PvE’ers will have something very fun and special to do on Fridays, its a win win.

Has quite a few flaws.
But, It would been nice to have something similar. But you know, It’s pretty many teams that win 5 in a fow, and you say on Fridays? What does this mean? The server that wins 5 in a row on friday keeps UW for a week?

Mmmk so I’ve probably spent around 3k gold in the forge. 15 precursors later heres what i can tell you.
Diminished returns can seem likely when you hit a rough patch. I’ve done 6-700g worth with nothing, but just 3 nights ago i popped 3 dawns in a 3-4 hour span. No diminished returns, this is just how the RNG works.
As far as anything being guaranteed, I really don’t think we can say that there is a guarantee. I am pretty sure that dumping 3k rares into the forge could very well net you with nothing. At the end of the day, the RNG is so bad and the numbers are so low that you are never guaranteed. I’ve gone from 800g, to 0g back to 400g, then to 900g, then to 150g and then to 1200g. All this obtained without hitting astronomical numbers like 1600 greatswords.
People in this thread have stated, your chances to get a pre are the same on your first try as they are on your 100th try. It literally comes down to luck. The only trend I’ve noticed was getting named exotics. Go dump 100g in the forge and count the named exotics you get. The more you get, the higher the chance to get a pre on your next batch of 50 staves. Of course, thats just my observation so it could mean fk all to everybody else. Again, it’s all luck and even my small sample size of 15 won’t do much in helping others.
there is no deminishing return but there is the mathmatic law stateing that doneing something anough times will get you what you want.
its simply proven with a coin tose where you want heads first we do 1 its 50/50 but now we do 10 is your chances still 50/50 after 10 tosses to get a single or more heads?
i know that the chances for a precourse is not 50% but a hell lot lower but that just means a hell lot mor trys to get closer to 100%
doing somehting enough times will make it close to 100% you will get your precourse and thats even without deminishing returns and all.

I never understand why people have to gamble and get kitten ed when they lose. It’s gambling, what do people expect? I had friends that were winning occasionally 1000$ at casinos but losing 300$ every week . Getting annoyed because you did not get the precursor you wanted is not very smart, especially since gambling is random. I know friend with 0 MF that recently got precursor at pavilion worth 400 gold and he only farms 1h per day. I farm there 2h per day with 300 MF and I also have done since the change over 800 champions and I barely got 1 exotic worth 18g. As I said, it’s just luck.
I forged about 2 dozen precursors last month. Made some nice money, bought some legendaries, spent WAY too much time forging as a result of how successful it was.
Now, I’m currently at over 3500 rare combines since my last one. That is 14000+ rares total fed to the forge, with over 700 exotics coming out as a result. Is that a bad streak? If the odds are 1% per exotic, try putting .99 ^ 700 into a calculator and seeing how big it is. If it’s .5% per exotic, which is on the pessimistic end of people’s estimates, there’s still only a 3% chance of seeing that long a streak with zero precursors.
It’s enough to make me think that sometimes, they tune things so that it’s actually impossible to roll a precursor, or much more unlikely than usual — maybe it’s something they do to let prices go back up a bit. Statistically, the numbers I see on the long dry spells seem to indicate a much lower probability of success at those times than the overall average would predict. (This isn’t the first time I’ve seen a streak like this.)
that depends on how my make a precpurser in the forge, if example you want dawn but dawn only have a chance if the exotic comming out else would be x or y with 5% chance of it being dawn instead of one of thoes then comes how many of x or y did you get?(useing dawn as a example set in any precourcer instead) that will make a very small chance for creating a precourcer and it will also be very hard to predict
tho i still do not belive that the MF is random but thats mostly based off my view of the world as nothing can be random in that view but it can have the illusion of being random tho

Sadly, the MF is just that, a gamble.. you worked hard for the 1600 GS, so why not turn them into something safer? I saved almost every penny to get The Dreamer, and now that i got it.. i am glad i didnt try the MF. If i am allowed to compare the game to real life, you wouldnt gamble your health insurance on a lottery ticket to get a sportscar..
Yeah, I hate this game for its RNG but I’m playing it everyday and Anet doesn’t deserve it. I’ve played gw1 for 6000hours and I’m just staying because
1. Alot of friends and guildies
2. Don’t wanna go back to my WoW-addicting (which for me is still the best MMO ever for various reasons)
3. It’s free to play
4. I want my Twilight before I quit (which looks impossible if I don’t go play the TP)
5. The game is growing although not getting better for my likings
Also I almost have 2000hours in gw2 after 1 year and I my best exotic drop was not worth more than 4g which is very sad!

Just to toss my experience in here. I’ve spent roughly 3.5k gold and tossed in nearly 10,000 rares into the forge. 3 precursors. 2 Storms, 1 Bard(all from random rares). My latest streak is about 4000 rares without a single precursor(3000 greatswords, 1000 random cheap rares). Additionally, I have also tossed in about 250 exotics+88 mystic forge stones and also no precursor. At this point I am sitting at 70g after dropping almost 800g in the forge trying to get a dusk or dawn.

You are wrong. I got The Lover from random drop yellows of different types. Stone / random weapon types = random weapon type. That is all.

I’ve given up on my legendary until something is done to make them not necessarily more accessible, but more realistic. As a casual player I just don’t understand what I’m supposed to do to be able to afford what I need in a reasonable amount of time.
Even looking at some of the relatively lesser things I want like the Reaver of the Mists/Anomaly and something that I need, such as infusion on my back piece is 750 ectos plus some other expensive, rare materials. It’s completely discouraging.
I spent over an hour and a half in a fractal 38 and came out with less than 2 gold. My friend got lucky with a precursor drop in about 5 minutes of pavillion farming. Is this what risk/reward is intended to be in this game? I’m not trying to be sarcastic or whine about not having enough money. I was able to craft a cool weapon and get some nice armor over my year of play time, but I’m honestly at a loss for answering the question of how to earn and sustain wealth in this game.

Now most profitable is to do dungeons (not fractals) You will get around 1.5g for one path, depends on drop. Every path awards a least one gold per day and 23s for finishing path. Lot of dungeos are realy quick and you can have completed every path from 15-30 minutes with no problem.
