Can we finally get it?
Since we have almost everything account wide already(Dyes, Weapon/Armor Skins, Outfits, WvW lvl, Gold, Karma, FotM lvl, Dungeon Tokens, Commander Tag, Minipets, etc) and apparently they nerfed the experience gained by crafting with the 9/9 patch(idk if bug or not) it seems there is no point in it being per character anymore since that was probably the only reason to keep it that way.

I know that there is the additional crafting license in the gemstore, maybe they could refund the gems to the people who bought it(I don’t really think many did lol) or it could be upgraded to provide account wide crafting. It wouldn’t be the first gemstore item that gets removed or reworked anyway(Instant Trait Reset, Transmutation Splitter, PvP Glory Booster?)

Any thoughts on this?

People use crafting to power-level alts. If crafting was account-wide, new characters would not be able to gain any xp for it. So a lot of people will tell you that this is a terrible idea.

That being said, I personally (as somebody who just can’t get into alts, no matter how hard I try) don’t care either way. I have all my crafts on my main, so if I need anything, I know where to look. I guess for me it already is (almost) account-wide!

I’m fine with individual characters having different professions. What I want to see is account-wide recipes. Those recipe sheet items that are in your inventory, then you double-click and learn them. Those should apply to your account instead of that character.

My guild bank full of recipe sheets disagrees.

can I join your guild? I want to move some crafts around so I can delete characters I don’t want but to do it I need a recipe for the major and superior of the these: sigil of malice, rune of exuberance, rune of tormenting, sigil of renewal, sigil of bursting, rune of perplexity. plus all the ascended inscriptions, insignia, and item recipes. potent potion recipes are just really expensive now but are at least obtainable. Those are just the ones that come to mind.
I don’t suggest this to save a couple gold. I suggest this to save thousands of gold plus hundreds of laurels plus millions of karma plus stuff you can’t even get anymore.

Hmmm….I would prefer it if crafting disciplines were account bound meaning that when you max a crafting discipline you can change your acts dicipline to it and have all your recipes unlocked.

Anet could also keep the additional crafting discipline, going although make it so you can buy up to 6 of them. Allowing all of your alts to have 8 crafting disciplines with any unlocks you got for them on any of your characters .

Also the whole, craft leveling thing is bs expensive now. Anet should just make tomes of knowledge sellable so there could be a in game gold way to buy a 80 for a price based on supply and damage. Meaning people could buy levels buy buying gems and transferring them to gold in order to get them off the tp.

I would be against this only because I like to utilize craft leveling… however if they were to give us more options for leveling that didn’t suck, this would be handy because I do always scramble trying to remember what’s on who

With the new Krait/Hylek/Ogre recipes, I feel there’s actually now a stronger case for learned recipes to be account wide. If you happen to learn one of these recipes from the collection on the wrong character, you’re permanently stuck. The recipes are account bound, so you can’t buy them from the TP, and you only ever get ONE of the recipes per account lifetime thanks to it being a collection reward. You’re now stuck with that particular character; you will need to level them to 400 crafting, and you can’t ever delete that character or you’ll permanently lose access to that recipe.

You’re right. Also one more reason why I’m glad to have a dedicated crafting character.

Maybe an item that transfers a crafting profession from one char to another. Can either be a gem store item or an item from an NPC (though I would bet this would be a gem store item).

My thoughts on how it would work:
The char that has that crafting profession double clicks on a item that transfers the chosen crafting profession to it. Another char then double clicks on the item and learns that crafting profession. (This char does not gain any exp for learning this profession).

A similar one could also be used to transfer recipes accidentally learned on one char to another. It brings up a list of all the ones that char knows and you can select the one you want to transfer.

Like Zaxares said, the problem with recipes that you get only once per account is also serious, being forced to keep a character just for a recipe doesn’t seems right to me, this also goes for other kind of recipes than you can no longer get like the ones from Queen’s Jubilee.

If they are going to keep adding stuff like the hylek/ogre/krait recipes, maybe they should do it like they did with the zenith weapons.

I would not make rafting fully account-wide.

But I would make an account-wide list of all recipes ever lerned by any character of the account.

Then we’ll have a distinction between “known recipe” and “learned recipe”.
Known means it’s in the account-wide list.
Learned means the current character can use the recipe.

Then any character in the account would be able to check the list of known recipes, and:

- If the recipe is discovered, use the materials and craft the item right from the list to discover the recipe and get exp as if you used the materials in the discovery panel.
- If it was learned from an item that was account-bound, or ascended, or acquired from an NPC, learning it with any other characters would be free.
- If it was learned from a tradeable item that wasn’t ascended or acquirable from an NPC, the recipe list panel will let you choose between paying a coin cost depending on recipe’s rarity to learn it, or look for the item in the trading post, so you can buy it off the TP if it’s cheaper there.

Then you no longer would have to worry about accidentally learning that super-expensive or super-rare recipe that can’t be obtained again with the wrong character, or about manually checking which recipes each character has to see which ones your main crafter may be missing by putting them in some spreadsheet or something.
