So the other night i salvaged 3 of the same items (i think it was metal or cloth) with a basic kit and got 1 random mat and 2 unidentified dyes! I salvage a lot and this was the first time i got dyes from salvaging, let alone 2 back to back. No one else i know has ever gotten dyes this way, has anyone else or was this a bug?

Once I got 2 dyes from the same plant I gathered.
Awesome feeling.
And yes but not from an armor or weapon it was from a kind of a “salvage item”.
And I know it just feels amazing ^^

Weird stuff, i know i never got any and i’ve salvaged thousands of items.

Never from salvaging… but talking about weird loot… I once got 2 badges of honor in Twilight Arbor story mode >.<

You can get 1-2 badges of honor as a rare drop from Faolain’s phantasms in Twilight Arbor’s Story mode.

I have never seen a dye drop from anything other than a mob or a plant. Wonder how many other people have received dyes from salvaging?

I even asked in LA and DR map chat if anyone has ever received dyes from salvaging and people were saying no, they didn’t think it’s possible. Wiki doesn’t list salvaging as a way of acquiring them either but who knows how accurate wiki is. Oscar replied that he has salvaged an item into a dye before so I guess I’m not the only one… I guess I just got really lucky to get 2 back to back.

He didn’t get it from salvaging, he stated he got his from harvesting plants.

ok, I’m going to play skeptic here and say “you must have just recently gathered something or got them as drops from mobs, and didn’t notice them in your inventory”

I’m hopeful that you can actually get dyes from salvaging, but at the same time I’d like some proof.

Unless i am completely misreading what Oscar wrote, it looks like he is saying that he received a dye, but not from an armor or weapon, it was from a salvage item (similar to my case).

I am 100% positive that i did not already have those 2 dyes in my inventory for 2 reasons…

1. I was cleaning out my inventory and before i salvaged, i noted i had 3 dyes. When i salvaged the items, 5 dyes were in my inventory.

2. Im not sure if the same happens to people not on auto loot, but im on auto loot so when i salvage items i see the popup on the right hand side of what you received. When i salvaged my items i saw the 2 dyes popup.

I really hope that this wasn’t a bug because i love dyes and i could never have enough!! So if this has happened to anyone else, please chime in.

i got same weird salvage few days ago too – an item instead of giving me usual wood logs gave me 2 PLANKs – 1st time like that and i’m just wondering if this is something new in salvage loot table or just a bug? because it happened after last maintenance i think…

The planks are rare as ive gotten ancient planks before as i salvage alot especially for high mats and the middle cloths.

Dyes: never had them cept the normal mob/plant harvest.

Maybe a stealth addition even though things are supposedly always listed.

Wiki is user edited so maybe an exotic drop eh?

I haven’t gotten a dye back but I have gotten 2 insignias back since beta. Those were a complete shocker because I really didn’t see them counting towards anything: rare crafting material maybe?
Either way it was a nice surprise and after at least 1000 salvages I haven’t seen any more.
