And it only takes one or two other people farming that spot to make it not worth doing.

Luckily most maps on most servers are relatively dead according to all the complaints. :P

Well, we have two possibilities here. Either lot of people will be farming those places, which will make them not worth doing, or only few people will do that, in which case the total amount of mats farmed will be low.

So, basically, for 99% of population it’s not going to help at all.

Forgive me for not understanding, but how do multiple people farming an area reduce supply? If two people attack the same enemy, they can each get loot from him, and in many cases more people means more mobs spawn, and better ones with higher loot tables.

That is only if it is associated with an event.
In the case of an event it depends on some other factors like the base amount of enemies. For example one of the event in the Ulgoth chain spawns quite a few enemies at the base. It doesn’t seem to spawn anymore with 5 people around. With other people around it’s pretty much guaranteed that I will miss a few. In a different scenario there is the event in the southern most part of Cursed Shore(near Rotbeard) where you are supposed to burn some corpses. There are a decent number of Risen that spawn/respawn as part of the event but if someone finishes the event those all go away.

You’re assuming that people will farm together.

Only events have the chance to spawn more depending on player presence. As for regular mobs just out there, it’s about tagging. Yes, the 80s can get lower level salvage drops and bags, but they also tend to kill things faster. Scaling can only go so far. Remember that scaling makes your gear equal to gear of that level. Meaning full exotics in a 30 zone means that you have exotic stats against things build for a rare stat max (level 30s can’t wear exotics). Thus, if more than one person starts farming an area, things start ding faster and making is harder to tag for drop credit.

Lucky for us there are more lower level zones than higher. We can spread out on different zones at different times. And if it’s just too much at your time, you can always just do whatever you do for gold and buy from them farmers. Or come back later.

You guys are seriously arguing that there will be too many people farming areas for sufficient loot to drop? Really?

When that gets to be a REAL problem come back here and complain (and someone will suggest GUESTING to a lower population server….)

I am not. I am just answering the question that was asked.

No, the argument was that those mats are not farmable in good enough ways to cover the supply problem.

It won’t matter if you’re on a low population server. If you ever farmed specific enemies, you would know exactly what the issue was. They don’t scale by the number of players in the area so go down very quick with 2-3 people farming them.

Think back to SSC with the farming for bloods and claws using the MF booster. With 7 or more people it became difficult to get claim on some of them and these were level 80. Imagine if they were level 35. There’s also the fact some people don’t want to join the group or you have multiple groups.

The Biggest thing without a doubt if simply the fact it unfair for tailors. we need 36 bolts of demask, this means atleast 36 days to make a armor set, Armorsmith and leatherwork on other hand need less, 25days i think (not 100% sure)
The Silk Weave tailor need require 100 bolts, yet leather is only 50 squares?
So we can safely say ascended armor crafting for tailor is unfair compared to both armorsmith and leatherwork, and such a should never be unfair, and at the very least, that needs to be fixed

Very succintly put, it is ridiculous. I would be willing to bet arenanet didn’t even think of it in that way when they devised the recipes. Given crafting is the only way to get ascended armor every set should take the same timer to craft.

Leather armor is pretty affordable to craft due to the abnormally low price of Elonian leather on the TP (currently <1g, in comparison a Bolt of Damask is around 13g)

Yeah, for once the adventurer classes are not the red-headed step children. They can get their ascended gear in ~25 days and it will cost half, or less, than it would the other classes.
