How To obtain that weapon? In my opinion it can be made by undiscovered mystic forge recipe. But it can be obtained by:
-dragon chest,
-placing 4 rare/exotic greatswords,
-boss drop?

I was even in Ascalonian Catacombs, looking for clues. I’ve pmed Linsey Murdock, too, but she did not reply…

Well I guess that I will continue losing my gold in the forge, and losing my time, killing as many dragons every day as possible.

I guess either no ones knows or those that do are keeping quite about it.

I thought it would be a specific mystic forge recipe but most of the possible recipes have been tested by now and gave something else.

Anyone with any idea on what the recipe could be?

-foefire’s essence comes from 4 rare weps,
-unknown mystic forge recipe:
maybe: scroll+coins+x+y where x might be greatsword hilt/blade and y is…. no idea. Rather not lodestones…or maybe? Or maybe foefire’s essence is RARE, VERY RARE drop from dragon chest…

Google “mystic forge”. Click the 4th link, “demystifying the mystic forge”. That is currently the most complete list of attempted recipes anywhere. Take it from me: many, if not MOST, of the mystic forge recipes haven’t been attempted. Certainly, most of the exceptionally expensive recipes are still untried. It’s just the lists for “unattempted but known” recipes are rarely updated.
Here’s one I haven’t seen on any lists:
1 Eldritch Scroll + Mystic Coins + 250 Charged Lodestones + 250 Orichalcum Sword Blades

will those work if you cahnge orichalcum sword blades into, say ori pistol barrel or ori-some-other-weapon-part?

Good question…but for Foefire’s Essence I’d need greatsword blade, not sword blade

Ori Greatsword Blade + Scroll + Coins are pretty much a given. The rest is.. rather up in the air.

You’d need about 20g to get one of each “interesting” item that could be used as the fourth. Might be Gift of Ascalon, since, you know, Foefire.

I didn’t think about gift! Maybe it’s not only for legendarys.

I’m curious about the hammer. =/ But the items needed for those skins are just as ridiculous as legendary weapons, just on a smaller scale of ridiculousness. lol

Tell me about it. I’m gonna embark on a journey (if you will) to gather 250 globs of ecto as 1 part a recipe i don’t know what will yield. I want to try to make a nice-looking pistol, and I checked awhile ago and it said something about 1 scroll, 30 coins, 250 globs of ecto and either 250 ori pistol barrel or 250 ancient pistol something. This is a dilema a bit because while the 250 ectos is unchangeable, the 250 ori will be significantly more expensive than the 250 ancient pistol thingy. I guess part of the fun is not knowing what skin will come out, and seeing as i’m putting it on an asura, it’ll look rather tiny o.o but what the hell, it’ll keep me busy for a few months

Buy one pistol barrel and one ancient pistol “something”, and check which part fits to:
Scroll+coins+ecto+barrel/ancient pistol.

The product might be that purple, mesmer phantasm pistol.

For spectral hammer and spectral shield or bow the recipes might be:
-4 rare/exo weapons,
-gift of ascalon+scroll+x+y

It most likely will use coins or maybe lodestones as x, and weapon part as y. I might be wrong, cuz it can be from 4 rares, too…

Did you put the Gift of Ascalon tokens in the forge? I heard some people were unable to put dungeon gifts into the Forge, I haven’t tried it out yet

If it was impossible you wouldn’t be able to craft Legendary. I think you are refering to tokens.

One guy on the Guru forums said that gift from AC cannot be used in the mystic forge.

has anyone tried using the dungeon gifts (not the 10g ones) at a 400 weaponsmith to see if its compatible with anything? the spectre lines of weapons might be like the same tier as destroyer weapons. like each weapon has the same base + you just change the ori parts. destroyer weapons are crafted at a 400 WS, so maybe these and weapons like volcanus too…

If Dungeon Gifts could not be thrown into the Mystic Forge, it would be impossible to craft any legendary weapon considering they all require one as a sub-component.

perhaps the gift of darkness? it uses the gift of ascalon in it

@Somna Dungeon Gifts cannot be used in the Mystic Forge. They are used in crafting the gift specific to each legendary weapon (e.g. Bifrost requires Gift of Color, which is crafted with a Gift of Zhaitan). On the other hand, these crafted gifts can be put in the Mystic Forge.

if you guys really don’t mind the looking for clues for hours, the clues might be in malchors or orr since that is where you fight spectral weapons. looks like several people already looked through every inch of AC and haven’t found squat, those might be the only 2 places left. ..

Orr has nothing with Foefire…

I’d really like to know an example of a hint.
Even when I was running around the Charr zones talking to every NPC that has something to say about the Foefire… I never got a feeling they were hinting at something more than what they’re ranting about.
Or am I going at this the wrong way and I shouldn’t be talking to NPCs?

Npcs are good idea. Or books, runes on the walls… I tried to explore AC by myself

No idea. We need to meet someone who currently has Foefire’s, but I dont think he’d say how to obtain it… if Linsey Murdock would say, we wouldn’t lose our time/gold anymore xD

Judging by the nature of the weapon, I would assume that some of the materials would be at least somewhat related to Ascalonia (Foefire) and/or the Guardian class and a scroll and other more standard things. Another thing to note is the guardian skill, Sword of Justice calls it an Arcane sword.

I wouldn’t really know what to try, and considering I lack a decent pool of skill points I wouldn’t be able to experiment to start with.

Well, i would say the Scroll and Mystic Coins are given. The other 2 mats would eather be a T6 mat, weapon part or Gift.

With so many gold sinks we cant affort to experiment, since 1 try would probably cost us 60~100g (depends on the mats).

I would ask to those guys who have hundreds of Gold to experiment. Since they have hundreds they probably bought everything ingame and have nothing more to do with the money.

Its incredible how there are so many Legendarys and these Named Exotics are yet to be discovered.

I would love to know how to make this weapon.

I think ArenaNet said something about tips spread arround the world, on how to make Legendarys and Mystic Forge recipes. I searched all over Ascalon, Ascalon Catacombs and the 3 Orders bases, and found nothing!

The thing is: there are so many possible recipes and so little money to spend experimenting.

i feel like so many of us want this but are to poor to actually experiment. the legendary’s were figured out by alot of people with hundreds of gold

its funny that legendarys were ment to be a more “exclusive”, more “unique” weapon, and actualy named exotics are somehow so much more “unique” that no one has found them yet xD

The only thing that I can’t get out of my head is… why is there a ghost cat names Alfa? And why is it chasing a frog? And what is that sword with the “faded runic inscription”?

On the side note. I sure hope they made the whole set of these. I want my weapons to mach!
Even tho… A charr NPC told me that ghosts never go into water. Does that mean no trident or spear?

you can only get "Foefire’s Essence (Greatsword), “Foefire’s Power” (Hammer), “Aether” (LongBow), and Eidolon (Shield).

I’m pretty sure the “clues” are, “What doesn’t grey out when I stick this in the Mystic Forge?” unfortunately.

there are probably 100 possible combinations that dosent grey out.

the thing is, each try goes for 60g to 100g, and one does not simply have that much money. i wasted enought money myself, just saving some to craft it when we get to the recipe.

world wide, i dont see anybody trying to waste that much money, unless they have like hundreds of gold.

going with the mists weapons purple = ectos. i’ve tried every blue thing i can think of to fit with ori blades, glacial and corrupt stones, and none of them are compatible. these are the only gifts that doesn’t say “used to craft a legendary” on them. if anyone has any of them can you test to see if its compatible with ori GS blades and post here?

I would like to know what kind of clues Anet is referring to. That way, we might have a way to looking this up.

Guys…do you think that it’s possible to obtain named exotic from Crafting’s discovery?

I tried many, many combinations… it maybe requires charged lodestones, but what with…? Here are maybe some clues in the Ascalon, somewhere.

AFAIK, “Name Exotics” are Mystic Forge only.

Linsey Murdock, said that there were recipes that used Gifts on them.

Foefire’s would probably use Gift of Magic (if indeed Foefire’s use a Gift, wich we don’t know yet).

Foefire’s Essence, being a “Spirit” weapon, may not need the Ori Blades. I saw recipes with no Ori component. Possible recipe would be Scroll+Coins+Gift+T6 material.

So many combinations that i don’t know what to begin with.

The Hammer its called “Foefire’s Power”, the Bow its “Aether”, and the Shield “Eidolon”.

There are some Mystic Forge recipes that do not use Components. So we must not take for granted that “Foefire’s” use Components.

EDIT: but yes, i understand you. There should be a “Fixed recipe” for all the “Foefire’s”, and then we would just change the Component to get the diferent weapons. Its a possibility, we must not disregard that.

While I do know a bit about the Foefire lore… Nothing screams of specific items. Unless I can somehow throw a ghost in the mystic forge and hope for the best?

Tbh I have to agree >.> I’m fed of this allrdy, wasted so many days & hours trying to research this.

Latest place was Zho’qafa Catacombs, since the place lookd rlly mysterious and had alot of spectral weapon mobs in there. Spend so many hours there, nothing! I even got event into that place, researchers trying to find something mysterious or interesting from there. Nothing :/ They said water cleaned all the things away from there so there is nothing to be found. There is not water that near from the place, hmm…

Btw any1 know any other areas with spectral weapon mobs? (Apart from that Catacombs and Ascalonian, been all over there all ready)
