Either i’m having extremely bad luck or they nerfed the ability to upgrade runes/sigils..

Before July about 1/10 would upgrade.. since july I have mystic forged over 200 sigils and runes (50+) and not got a single upgrade

anyone else noticed this?

In doing my daily today I managed to upgrade 2 to superior. That is starting with 20 majors.

Sounds like you just had a bad day with the RNG gods.

Gambled 1000 runes tonight. Same as usual.

Why does anyone even bother with RNG?

Because if you use 1000 runes that you got however under 3s you will always get profit.

The RNG is just how much. Yesterday I got lucky on divinities and scholars so 30g turned into 60g over the course of a few minutes.
to add you get dungeon runes without having to run the dungeon. My ele is happy to always have 12 Superior Runes of the Monk (all above 12 I vendor). I hate dungeons.

Your sample size is far too small to even give any conclusive or even vague evidence, try multiplying it by … let’s just say 100×.

I believe some accounts are flagged with perma DR and some have passive magic find.

I dont deny that I get above average exotic drops and even precursers. But the rune gamble with high sample sizes has been proven by shiploads of data to be profitable if the major runes used are below a certain price.

And of the twelve precursers I got so far I gave away two, crafted four weapons and sold six. These not only being dusks and sparks. There was this torch for example. So there is no way I crafted 4 legendaries, bought T3 sets worth around 1k g, have my bank and mules loaded with eventstuff and still have 23k just through RNG.

Grow up already.

After reading your posting history, I will just assume that you are bitter and got a problem with me. Go on mate, hit me like you mean it, I bet it will get you your dusk. Maybe you should have spent 10 minutes of trading every day instead of ranting. You might have gotten the money for 10 precursers already.

I tried to read this objectively and will agree with what you have said. There are small MF tricks that allow one to make a little gold. But when I read your post the only thing that bounced around in my brain was 23Kgold. Albeit my head can be a bit empty at times but 23Kgold and crap what was I saying?

:P Makes my 120gold look like pocket change and I’ve been playing smart and saving since last August.

EDIT: I remembered what I was saying. Sample sizes need to be huge to show a pattern. A couple of players burning through 100’s of runes/sigils is nothing when a pattern doesn’t start showing until there are 100’s of thousands…. 23Kgold.

I might have run around 40k runes through the forge. Counting the starting ones only as I throw in all I get back if it isnt exotic.

This always ends in profit for me or everybody I know if the used rune was cheap enough. I would not use it for big money making thoug, as sometimes (rarely) the profit is quite low. Mostly I do it when a certain rune gets very cheap and I want certain dungeon runes for a new build on an alt or just want to have a chat while I stand next to the forge (oh wait, I mean everywhere as I have a permanent node for that thing).

It is not where the big money is. if played smart you could have made 1k gold of profit just with t6 leather in a moment or with copper and candycorn after the last patch released. (investing after the reddit post some days before that)

Edit: 23k gold is nothing compared to some people out there. There are traders that have massive control on certain markets and you wont even notice. I just invest in patches and events.

Sigh… I know about the candy corn. I lost out because my 7stacks were used up making mad king runes and ice cream. Not that they weren’t helpful to the character I put them on and profitable for the items I sold but…
Yeah I am not that wise on speculation nor willing to babysit the TP in order to profit like I should. I made 20g total through a little flipping (10-20 items or less) and from crafting but nothing like the big dogs do.

Pretty soon there will be a secret society of “Free Mason’s of Tyria” that control all the markets and the gold. I will just be one of the conspiracy theorists that wishes she had membership.

PS- I hold no contempt for flippers. Anyone can do it if they have the time, patience, and innate ability to sniff out a good or upcoming market for items. You don’t even have to have a lot of gold to get started. I may get flamed for this opinion but I have come to the realization that ‘this’ is present in real life as well as online communities. Live with it, work with it, or resent it. Your choice I guess. Cheers

Nice try. 28k Kills in WvW and I do smallscale mostly. Solo to fivemen.
Also almost 8k Achievementpoits. I guess I played ist.

As stated, I invest smartly. E.g. Bought 15 ghastly shields at 45g. Look at them now buddy.

That didnt require much time.

As IRL, things are achieved by actions, not by complaining and insulting.
As simple as that. You can complain about not getting your precursors, or think for 10minutes and get enough gold bit by bit to buy 10 of them.
Also as IRL, where is gold, there will be more gold.

How did you start making gold, though? That is the hard part

Im’ not surprise someone have 23k. I probably made around 4k by just farming too much. The problem is I spent all my money. If I been smart and save money for “investing”, I probably be alot richer.

The problem is what’s the point on having all those money unless your goal is to have a bunch of legendary weapon and armor or just to play trading post tycoon. And if you save all those money just to make more you won’t be wearing legendary for a long time.
