Let me start by saying FML!
Ok now.. I wanted to craft the Triforged Pendant for my Necro but all my craft leveling was done on my Guardian. So I get all the mats needed (a month of farming) and put it into the bank. Then I logged into my Guardian and began crafting items needed for the forge. Once finished with the crafting I head to the mystic forge and make the 3 pendants, then combined them to make the Triforged Pendant (yay)! All the while I have the wiki page opened to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Triforge_Pendant. So as I look down on the wiki page I see all I need is 1 mystic coin, 1 glob of ecto and 1 fractal relic. I’m thinking, great I have those items so why not….

Sorry for the pause I was crying!

So I combined the Trigorge with the ecto,mystic coin and fractal relic and out comes the ascended Triforged pendant (yay)! I go to put it in the bank and log into my necro to get his newly awaited pendant, and FML it’s soulbound to another character!! After thoughts of suicide I decide to quickly contact a GM through support. They tell me there’s nothing they can do and that I should try to contact a Dev here.

Now… Yes I’m a moron and should have looked at the ascended version to see if it would be bound BUT from the link I showed above it doesn’t say anything on that page and its very misleading to put another recipe there so people can just look at the ingredients and not have to click on the item to see the actual specs. There should also be a WARNING message at the mystic forge when creating something that will be soul bound on acquire, after all we have crafting alts.

So I’m begging PLEASE PLEASE wipe out the ascended tri forged pendant I made yesterday and just replace it with the regular tri forged pendant (idc about the Matt’s for the ascended version) this way I can get it on my necro and turn it into the ascended version. Please tell me that you can do this, it took a lot of time and gold. It would be totally unjust if it were all to go to waste.

I hope they do it for you. It may have been a case of over-eager clicking to finish upgrading the pendant but it is still a huge endeavor both in time and gold.
Put in a support ticket just in case.

Yeah I did submit a ticket and the GM told me that they are not able to replace items but maybe a Developer can help me. The simple fact is from the link up top for the Triforged pendant you can see mid way down the page it tells you what’s needed to make it into the ascended version. There needs to be a warning message when your about to craft a soul bind “ON ACQUIRE” message because many people have crafting alts and besides my particular at had a lot of skill points to use also, idk I just hope they can do something.

There should be no such thing as soulbound on acquire in any game. Yes, the devs need to look at it, and for everyone, not just you. Soulbound on acquire is punishing, and games don’t need built in punishments.

I have to agree. I actively play and love the game, but soulbound is the glaring exception to being able to enjoy the game as a crafter. If we craft it, we should have all rights to pass it on through sell, gift or pass to an alt. Minis (I know, tons of posts about this) are another bound item that I don’t understand. I have minis on my GW1 account that came with special editions I bought and I can trade, sell, whatever when I am done. I would accept promo minis as bound gladly. Anything else from Weapons to craft supplies should not be bound imho.

Maybe this is to prevent duplication of item exploits, but it needs addressed I believe. This binding stuff makes the GW2 world less immersible and more restrictive.

Even if they just changed ‘soulbound on acquire’ to ‘account bound on acquire’, would change things massively for the better IMHO.
I do hope a dev can help you. I have crafting split across alts as well. You probably won’t be the last person to have this happen.

I hope they can help you out, since imo this isn’t a case of misclicking, there is an expectation that anything you upgrade through the forge will be account bound even if it was previously soulbound.

Heck, even the ascended backpiece and rings operate like this, upgrading the fractal capacitor from exotic to ascended un-soulbinds it.

Lunatic I am sorry but as stated by the CS team, we can’t help you with this issue I am afraid. It’s not a matter of it being done by a developer, a CS member or a CC. The team can’t help you in this issue. You could try sending a ticket to the with your proposal to simply revert the ascension, but I wouldn’t count on it. Once again, sorry.
