I agree, this has been discussed a lot, but it also bothers me so much.
1) Why does the weapon information say “Legendary” if it doesn’t count as one for the achievement? The color is purple, not orange or pink.
2) Why don’t Twilight and Sunrise only require half the materials to craft if Eternity is the Legendary?
3) Eternity should have a different, more epic skin, as it requires double the materials to craft than other Legendary weapons.
I posted the same questions a few weeks ago and basically got the following answer: Twilight and Sunrise are legendaries.
My questions though, is to Anet. Is the fact that they do not get recognized as a legendary by the game an error, or on purpose? And if it is a an error, will this be fixed anytime soon?

it should not be so hard to fix, i dont know why its still here honestly. also, its a minor bug if you dont own that weapons. if you do it, it hurts a bit.
Same goes for my Twilight. But they said they gonna fix it someday. Since you have it this is the least of your worries

Eh, if I went through the grinding (and potentially buying) of resources needed for a lgendary just to find out that it’s bugged, that would bother me, too, and not minorly so.
I stare at my start sceen every single day thinking, one day you have to craft a legendary to complete your medals, maybe get working on it.
It takes significant effort…

If only programming and developing a massive piece of software were ever this easy.
Event call – On item Soulbinded to Player
Does player have legendary weapon equipped? True or False
- ~ Note test could be done for each unique weapon
- ~ At the moment players may be rewarded for multiple legendaries of the same weapon type
If True – Set achievement count for legendary collector +1
If False – do nothing… (only need test to check for true flag)
Is legendary medal activated? True or False
If true – do nothing… (only need test to check for false flag)
If False – Set legendary medal flag to true – Activate legendary medal
The above is just a very simplistic example of how the code may look (pseudo-code)
The current issue at the moment is for some reason the event flag didn’t get checked for Sunrise or Twilight, maybe the legendary flags are not correctly set is one possibility or the fact that they combine to make Eternity might be another possibility for why the flag is not activating but this is just guess work at best without seeing the code.
So now the developers need to implement a bug fix – something like the following
Correctly Flag Sunrise & Twilight as legendary (fix any other side issues related possibly to Eternity combine…)
Perform a database query on all characters to check if a character owns a soulbinded legendary equal to Sunrise &/Or Twilight
(I’m making the assumption here that Anet does use some form of database for character data…)
If character does own a soulbinded Twilight Or Sunrise > perform the above event call for that character.
(This would probably be the most efficient way to do it… but they could try some brute force method resetting all flags and performing a complete check on all characters/item data as well…)
Why something like the above hasn’t been done in over 6 months puzzles the living hell out of me personally, but I’m sure there must be a good reason somewhere to explain why this issue still exists to this day and I’m sure many would love to hear the explanation why.

I asked a friend who is software developer and he told me this would take 3 days at max for one programmer. Even if it’s a minor bug, it’s really ridiculous that they haven’t been able to fix this AFTER 8 MONTHS!!!!!!!!
Anyaway, I have now Sunrise and Kraitkin, so I don’t care anymore :-)

“Prioritization” ~ You mean like the Super Adventure Box? Rtlock’s Critter Rampage? The super amazing ‘Molten Alliance Pick’ (with a return on investment ~8years…)
Yes so many, many different priorities but you have to admit it does reflect rather poorly on Anet that they can’t invest the time of one single competent developer to solving this issue.
That’s all that really needs to be said as we continue to wait – the question now is how long must we wait? … 1 month? 2? 6? a year?
If Anet truely does “Prioritization” they must have a timeline and a direct answer to this question at the very least…

Time to play devil’s advocate.
As an amateur programmer, I can assure you that some bugs while seem “minor” are a pain and a half to find and fix. For example, imagine there was one risen in Orr that used the wrong weapon. In order to fix that, a programmer would have to go through EVERY SINGLE RISEN SPAWN in the Cursed Shore, Malchor’s Leap and Straits of Devastation until they found the right one and switched his weapon. In the time that would take, the same programmer could be fixing the missing effects on legendaries, correcting errors in skill tooltips, increasing the drop-rate of charged cores or adding new features to WvW.
Which would you prefer that programmer do?

There is a development plan.
There is a list of bugs that should be fixed.
There are always some critical bugs that require devs attention before the entire queue.
There is a bug with account medal for Twilight/Sunrise.
It has some number in queue.
It will be fixed in its turn. Because it DOESN’T affect your gameplay experience.
That’s it.
P.S. And yes, I’m affected by this bug. I have Twilight.

your arguments are a bit weak if you need to point this out. think, i can also avoid dots at the end of the sentences if it hurts you.
you already told us that you have a great experience in programming so feel free to explain me how many critical bugs they should have fixed to let this minor bug, as you called, here after 8 months. also, if i know its not an easy task and theres is such a big queue, i would not give positive answers to players. would you?

Im just saying that 8 months of time + positive answers = bug still here is a bit too much. Nothing else. Speaking about this bug may be a way to speed up the process, I dont know.

Actually I translated part of what Predator said. Now I will finish repeating him. It’s a minor quality of life issue. Yes, 8 months is a very long time but there is a very long list of things wrong with this game.
In code sunrise and twilight are also precursors for eternity.
Which is probably the root of the bug.
