I didn’t do a perfect run here, got a bit messy later on, but it’s totally possible to run it a lot cleaner than that.
While it’s probably possible to do this with any zerker class, warrior is probably the easiest way to go if you have one.

First thing, starting position:

You start off on the left side where the first 6 plunders spawn. With a warrior using either 100b and a few auto atks and maybe a rifle you should be able to burst them down pretty quick. While doing this, one of two vet mobs may spawn out depending on your chance so it is vital that you stay as far as possible from them as you can.

Usually where the plunder spawns on the left side is SOMEWHAT safe but don’t count on it.

Okay, now when the right plunder (the first one) spawns. DONT go for it straight away. Almost ALWAYS wait for it to run back. The key is to time it JUST right so that when you use your rifle skill 3 and finish off with 100b you DON’T aggro any mobs. The plunder has maybe 2 seconds it linders BEFORE it triggers the loot being dropped, so it should give you plenty of time to pull of a 100b to stop him from lowering your loot count thingy.

Right and left plunder after awhile should be pretty easy, occasional strikers will spawn, make sure you DON’T aggro them. if you do don’t worry, just run as far back as you can WELLL out of range. DON’T cut it short by going maybe here is enough, rather lose the 500, make sure the striker is running it’s way back and quickly come bak and catch up to your plunders. Ideally, if done right, you shouldn’t pull any mobs. The spawn rate is somewhat random so sometimes you can get a bad spawn wher a striker or grenadier kinda lingers at the right plunder and you have to go for the kill and quickly run back. Okay, when the 3rd plunder spawns, this is where things get a bit tricky, it’s totally possible to kill all 3 but sometimes at least one of the spawns become seemingly impossible to get to. This is usually the right one, you should have at least 2000 points left at this stage and well under 2 minutes. So the plan is again, to kill either the left or middle one and let one of them run there and back. During that time, you should be able to pick off the right one safely. After you’ve done that, the middle one should be almost back and you can pick him off too. Rinse and repeat until finished. near the end it get’s a bit nerve wrecking, if you’re around 30 seconds, you can be slightly reckless if you wish, the skills I chose to use was dolyak signet signet of might and throw bolas. The food I recommend is crit and power food with sigils of force. i didn’t have either the food or the sigils cause I was lazy and poor though.

What I usually recommend doing is pull out rifle use skill 3 then immediately change to GS and kill with 100b.

Got some of this stuff off an older post I had up but now i got a video attached to it. I ran this a few times, the cleanest run I had I finished with about 2000, unfortunately I didn’t video that one.

This was a solo run since it was a lot easier this way. However, if a group has enough synergy to run back and kill as efficiently as one player can coordinate with himself, then it is possible to do this as a group too.

Hope this helps everyone who still hasn’t been able to get the achievement.

Reading all this… now I’m convinced that it is broken.

Because the devs cannot possibly have had this particular approach in mind.

It is broken, in the fact that they made it much easier to solo run the dungeon rather than a coordinated group. Of course, I kinda doubt anet will fix this in time for people to run this as a group (if anything nerf it so you can’t run it solo maybe?) We’ve always had to pick up the pieces where anet has been unfit to balance and find our own way through somehow.

Did it yesterday with my guardian. But I had to change my traits, full power, precision…my gear was pretty defensive though.
Weapons were Greatsword and Scepter/focus(good sigil on focus…shield maybe better). I did some runs with hammer and staff before but the dmg was 2 low/slow.

Buff yourself with food and oil(or bandit slayer works probably too), sigils & power signets maybe pick 1 or 2 speed skills.

This was obviously supposed to be a horde mode. Even before the patch people were having to exploit the game mechanics to beat it. Obviously broken from the start.

i agree it is a bit broke. actually i would say that it is more broke post-patch than pre-patch just because of how annoying it is now. (you can tell how annoying it based on the instructions in OP post)

warrior is just too op for PvE also. i can totally see how the 1500 range helps here. berserker gear is also op as well.

All is vain.

Would be really interested to see if all the people claiming T4 completion is evidence of some higher tier of skill did it any other way than this, or if they just have a higher tolerance for exploiting content where the way to win is to not aggro any mobs that can hit you!

You had to kill 24 plunderers… o___o

I am so happy I got this done and over with (solo) a while back when it wasn’t this hard to do. I remember killing only 11-14 plunderers at t4, I think it’s because I didn’t kill them as fast as you did, I damaged them and used condition damage so they died slower, that way more time was wasted, less plunderers would spawn. (the plunderers won’t respawn if they are still alive).

Also, when I did mine, I remember only seeing 2 spawn spots… your vid shows 3, did the patch made it that way too?

Thanks for the guide, I have just done T4 Evon and Kiel.

I did both, Evon and Kiel , at second time so it was easy to do T4. But I could do it because I have a berseker warrior and I understand that this might be very hard if someone try this with a non berseker character.

Congrats to the OP and thanks for sharing this guide.

All the same, I agree with the others that if the vast majority of people are resorting to this tactic to complete T4 and not “playing the game the way it was intended”, then something is wrong with the design.

Personally I think the main error was in scaling up the mob HP in reaction to the number of players in the map. They should have kept them the same as if there was one player, and then increase the amount of rewards handed out according to the number of Aetherblades killed. This would have encouraged people to defend near the treasure piles as was clearly intended, killing as many Aetherblades as possible, but always keeping an eye out for Plunderers to make sure they didn’t escape.

bring pull skills if you can. was doing it on my Guardian and finally completed it last night. used GS 5 to pull the right plunderer on their way back – one, it interupts, brings them closer to me, and also i noticed if i aggro-ed any vets at all (they still spawned near the spawns), it’d just be 1-2, as opposed to the 3-4 i kept getting.

i found it easy to group the middle and left plunderer too if they happened to be nearby or just CC them, even if you can’t kill them. do anything you can to slow them down.

now, to get Gold for the event… ; )))

Yeah, this was fixed post patch so there is 3 spawns. Some people claim there is RnG to the spawn location. I don’t believe this alters the core strat of this. Because if you’re careful enough, you can avoid pulling aggro anyways. You will notice that the times I screwed up was because I got greedy and tried to finish one that was running off or didn’t wait slightly long enough.

Hey – many thanks for posting this vid!!

Originally I didn’t think this would be of much use since I main a Mesmer, HOWEVER watching how you attacked the plunderers at 5:30 made all the difference!! (i.e. I was trying to kill the right one first, but as you show it’s MUCH easier aggro-wise to just kill the left one at spawn and then get right on it’s way back).

It’s still not ‘easy’ to pull off, but I know I’ll get better with more practice. Thanks again!!

Happy it helped just an extra tip, once the 3rd plunder spawns, try get at least the left or middle one. Usually if there are no sudden spawns in the middle, the middle plunder (and the left one) can be taken out without aggroing anything. If you wait for all 3 to walk back, chances are you’ll probably not make it to one of them.

Also, since you main a mesmer, if you have the trait dodge on clone, I suggest you turn it off as it will cause unwanted longer aggro range/hold.

Hey OP. Grats on the win and thanks for the vid.

It’s not really matching up with my experience though, I find I often get Veteran spawns very close to the Plunderer drop points who linger ie don’t run to the treasure but hang out for a (long) while before running. Maybe Veteran spawn location is also partly RNG?

That is because of the strat I use. If you do it right, the mobs will not linger for long. To me aggro has 3 states just like metal gear solid. Undetected, alert, and you aggroed. Usually if you’re a bit close and they saw you already, they become in a alert phase. So if you start hitting plunders and they’re relatively close by, they’ll pounce you. (note, in the alert phase, mobs will linger for about 5 seconds before SLOWLY walking back towards the back). The key thing for success is to hit the right plunder at near its last moment as I have pointed out earlier. This way, the vets that have run back will not pull aggro and you can kill and safely return back to the left corner without any danger.

Things do get a bit tougher if you aggroed halfway through as you may have seen about 3/4 into my video. You can recover but it’ll take a bit more effort. I don’t really think there is much RnG with the spawns with the exception on the mob type. I’ve been able to reproduce consistent results with this strat and have helped out a few ppl in game as well.
