Found it funny. Ellen represents the Role Model of how we all should be, defending the weak, protecting her city, serving the people, the hero basically. Evon represents the Politicians who buy their power or even the business man who pays to get what he wants. Just like modern day politics!

PS: Ellen will be getting all my support, I’ll be farming in my sleep for Support Tokens.

I don’t understand why businessman = devil in everybody’s mind.
Evon is well suited to be in a PIRATE council, he knows how to operate with shady people. He wants this position and knows what to do with it.
Also, I don’t see how he buys his power. Both candidates promised us goodies.

Kiel, on the other hand, does not even want this position, Magnus ordered her to do it. It feels like vote for her in reality is vote for Magnus, so he can have more influence in the council.

PS: I like both candidates, just tired of people saying that Ellen is saint and Evon is evil.

Please! Kiel makes you do all the work every time there is a problem and then claims all the credit along with all the good loot such as the airship. She is using you to further her own ends so she looks good in the election. While Gnashblade an HONEST businessmen has always cut you a fair deal every time you use his services.

Lol I agree with op but just lol at ^

Kiel doesn’t contribute bc she’s an NPC and it’s gameplay. If this was real I’m pretty sure she would be fighting just as valiantly and skillfully lest any of us be killed… Don’t mix in gameplay with lore. It like saying Zhaitan is weaker than the temple priests bc it took less ppl, was a shorter fight, was kind of a joke, whereas temples needs like a whole group of ppl and relatively a lot of time to complete successfully… Gameplay should not be a basis of judgment in game lore or storyline

Also Kiel her decision or not will for sure stand by the values, ideals, and visions that LA was built upon an defend the ppl and general well being as she has demonstrated. It is her duty and she will do it properly. Read the novel Sea of Sorrows and you’ll understand where LA comes from and what happened, who founded it, what they had a vision of and their important values for this city. It isn’t a pirate city IMO. The novel explains it clearly. They are simply survivors who have a common enemy just like the PACT and created this city to stand free and independent and welcome all races of Tyria to work together to fend of Zhaitan and prosper together in trade. Actualy, they might have been the first instances of charr and human and diff races coming together in relative harmony. Without LA and Marriner, there would still be raging wars and no place for diff races to interact and learn from one another. They aren’t really pirates in all honesty. Read the book, then you might feel the belonging and patriotism for LA and why it’s better to hand it off to Kiel

I don’t understand why businessman = devil in everybody’s mind.

Evon/Anet is not a good businessman. He rips his customers off (RNG Skins)
without delivering a quality product for their money.

Anet should take the skins out of the BLC’s, sell the skins outright, reduce the price to 25-50 gems each, remove items like permanent bank access from the game.

Considering it is her job to do so I think it would be pritty bad if she didn’t. An i would like to point out she didn’t do very well requiring help of citizens she was support to protect. Not to mention she let a terrorist attack occur on her watch how could you not notice a flying ship above an important cerimoney that you where supost to protect. This election is so bias because they don’t let you know EVO’s past deeds where you got a first hand experience to Kiels. The Lions guards are all Pirates in shinny armor where EVON is a to class merchant so who really has the the best reputation. Kiel track record is horrible→over payed and over appreciated just because she worked on her vacation blew up a merchant ship killing all on board. The only reason to vote for her is to remove her from the post so she can be replaced with someone who can actually do their job.

Anet has yet to call their boxes gambling. If they do, then this becomes a mature rated game.

doode, did you READ the latest news by ANet? gw2 is my first MMO ever. and after the treatment we get here? i don’t think get the same enjoyment out of any other MMO out there, let alone one that doesn’t have a sub fee.

and if you want to stick to “lore”, Evon does not create the chests.. which contain RNG. he but tempts you with the ability for a chance at goodies by selling they keys. and if you are the one that falls to temptation, don’t play the victim.

Evon is only a NPC! But the NPC that promotes the RNG chest/key in game. And campaigns on selling you more RNG skins.

Evon is a representation of Anet RNG skins for sale!

GW2 can make money by selling skins outright. Or they can put tokens in the chest to go towards any RNG skins along with the skin tickets.

What’s ironic is how Evon supporters are voting for him because of the fractal (due specifically to lore reasons). Yet they fail to take into account the lore being setup if Evon takes the chair.

Very much like modern day politics; voting for the greedy, shady money that’s been veiled behind “big promises”.

This entire event is a parody of our current political system. How sad that even within fantasy we can’t make rational choices.

I disagree with you here. Since I don’t do fractals and don’t really care about WP and BLK, I actually choose between two candidates here. And you know what? Ellen is extremely boring. Sure, in real world she would’ve been my choise, but in game this “good girl with no flaws” thing is just not interesting. I want to see characters with personality and flaws. Evon may be shady, but at least it’s interesting to watch him.

except because this is a computer game, there are no empty promises, do you really think arena net will say ‘we have these brand new features if the living story goes this way’ but then not implement them?

Well I see the “good vs bad” in their people’s benefits offered. One offers something most everyone is effected by (WP cost), the other a small population’s concern (BL Keys). Why doesn’t Evon offer lower tax on listing or sales on the TP? Because it’ll hurt his income too greatly.
