Anyone find the Firework underwhelming?
I had hoped it would be to music, but oh well.
It was a bit disappointing. The giant holographic dragon “dying” was kind of cool, but the fireworks show was a bit of a let down.
IMO a group of players did a better job with the DIY fireworks and a Super Fun Box.
They should have done something like the Canthan New Year finale from GW1 – had a bunch of holographic dragons appear and charge around town. That was worth watching every year, even after you’d gotten whatever the reward was.

was sort of hoping to see other dragons in the sky

Yeah, the Shatterer just sort of sitting there for the majority of the time was a little underwhelming. At first I couldn’t tell when it started because it seemed too similar to the normal personal fireworks. Otherwise thought it was perfectly nice. The achievement and “once every two hours” wait forced too much of a buildup for it, that’s all.

I think the firework itself was alright. I’m just curious as to why they chose to limit it to the weekend. Having the firework run all through the Dragon Bash would have made it easier for players to get the achievment (especially those who are busy on weekends – yes those kind of people exist too). Kinda reminds me of the Canach “Dungeon”. It’s just strange that it has a special release apart from all the other stuff.

I’d like to know why it was necessary to stand around 30-50 minutes for this thing. I don’t know the exact time because after 30 minutes of waiting/chatting I just alt+tab to something else.
I dont get starting at dawn, lets wake up early & watch fireworks before I go slay some beasts…
i didnt see any fireworks, aside from the boxes of fun players left out around the projector. i stared at the dragon for about 30 minutes hoping to see the holographic zerg come to kill the dragon in 3 minutes, but that never happened. turned my sound and music ON, and didn’t really get an epic feel of what the entire show was about.
i hope that the Tyrian Version of Dragonforce rocks The Effigy stage, and some chicken and/or dragon heads roll. giving additional kudos for Trogdor sighting.

You don’t slay beasts on weekends. Weekends are for partying and for Norns to be more drunk than usual and dancing and having a jolly good time. Rumour has it that there’s even been a Charr once, who couldn’t be bothered to fight during one of those weekend-days.
And why not crown a good night of celebration with a lovely firework in the early morning hours, just before we head home, jump into our beds and wake up again, days later, and solemnly swear to never touch a glass of alcohol again.
Definitly underwhelming and ,as usual, didn’t get off to a clean start.
I liked the dragon hologram though (puking while eating too much candy was good for a chuckle too).

SO underwelming. After waiting for an hour there was a palpable excitment in the air. We were gazing up at the stars, a huge crowd had formed. And then…… wha? It was over in a second and the big feature was the dragon disappearing? Am I missing something? They really had the chance to craft a beautiful series of spectacular images, colors, pizzaz, epic scenarios, a narrative, lights, camera, action!!! Instead it was like someone let the air out of a balloon and passed out in the corner of a supermarket. Anet really needs to hire some designers who can give the people what they want.
The underwhelming aspect is that if you are in overflow, you’re screwed out of the display, the head piece, etc.
Not cool Anet.
EDIT: I love the fireworks tho

Let me explain how this works.
The firework event cycle (them happening every two hours) was started at 9:00 AM PDT. The event itself is tied to the ingame time and will happen at dawn (ingame). So your fireworks might not have happened yet, as it is not dawn ingame.
Apologies for us not communicating this more clearly. But the fireworks will happen every two hours over the course of the weekend, so plenty of time to marvel at them and get the achievement.
