If you want to continue to exist. Which is optional if you’re aware of what people do when they don’t want that option.
Everything is optional.
Right. So if he doesn’t like the released content, he can choose to ignore it and ignore the achievements attached to it, because they have no impact on your gameplay. You pay no subs, you can leave this game for a few days and do something else.
I don’t see the problem?
EDIT: By framing your statement that way, you’re completely ignoring or missing the point on why people say achievements are “optional.” Namely, that the consequences of NOT doing it is minimal (or none, as some can argue.)
If you choose to stop breathing, you die. If you choose to stop taking showers, you earn social stigma. These are consequences far more significant than missing out on 10 achievement points in GW2.
Note: if you stop taking showers, you will likely die from a disease linked to lack of sanitation.
The point here is that the argument that you do not have to do the content is not a valid response to a post providing feedback on the disappointment on that.
For example, say you go to a hotel and fill out a feedback card saying that you did not like the sheets that the hotel provided as they were uncomfortable. If you received a response from someone else saying, sleep on the couch. You’d probably be pretty irritated.
Anyway, the main point of this post is that the content added is not fun. The majority of it is extremely repetitive. There is no “achievement” in lighting 100 fireworks. They could have made it light 1 firework and had the same celebratory effect. Instead, this felt like a chore.
To make the added things more ‘fun’ I would do the following
Fireworks Achievement: Light up the sky with every color by lighting fireworks with 2 friends at the same time!
Moa Achievement: Win 3 races by using the specialized moa boxes on the race course to determine the outcome!
Dragonball: These achievements are fine, 20 wins isn’t that bad and is actually an achievement. Maybe remove the 20 participations and/or make it 1 game participation reward.
Holograms: Make this more skill based and less repetitive based. i.e. Kill all the holograms in less than 3 seconds after activation. (or something like that).
Coffers: Mostly I’d keep them as is. However, I’d have the option to buy coffers with candy that you get from the coffers. Maybe 10 candy = 1 coffer
Repeat X task Y times is not a fun mechanic.
