Dragon Bash: Predictions?
Pinatas of dragons for us to bash
Oh, and i predict chests with RNG weapons that everyone will complain about
It will be a holiday celebrating the 1 year anniversary of this game, I’m assuming. Not much will happen, typical holiday stuff. The big thing is going to come out of the last act of the living story before it. I’m expecting dominion of winds to be open.
Oh, and i predict chests with RNG weapons that everyone will complain about
I’m not sure about the RNG chests. Since it’s probably going to be a holiday/living story like Wintersday, you will most likely be able to purchase the weapon skins (if there are going to be any, anyway) with some type of tokens.
Everyone will still complain about something though. That’s a given.

confirmed
•Get more of the Dragon Festival. Each festive dragon coffer commonly contains candy and fireworks, rarely contains fortune candies and recipes for fireworks launchers, and even more rarely contains weapon skins.

Not even just weapons, any kitten RNG box from the BLTC.

More of them? the 3 we already have are not enough for you? /s
Roller beetle races, dragon arena but most likely not
New gem store armor skins.
They could for god’s sake hold back on the constant rng boxes for 1 month. You know the rng boxes once every 3-4 months helps people recover from being completely spat on by the stupidly low drop rates that go with the boxes.
Do too much of this and it’ll only alienate players because this game isn’t the gamestop of mmo’s you dont need some exclusive limited time contest that requires alot of cash to get a prize. The f&f brahm and rox skins were perfect imo
I perfectly understand this is a business to make money and if i don’t like it leave blah blah unoriginal only saying this to make someone’s opinion i don’t agree with be quiet in a smug sense of being “right” sarcasm post. I never gamble and i don’t plan to but i know alot of people who are beginning to quit because of not only lazy updates but needing alot of money or luck to get 1 simple skin for 1 character. I can only hope(i ain’t blind to what will happen though) that it’ll get better.
So, why are everyone assuming that the festive dragon coffers will be gem-store only?

There will most definitely be more than “RNG” items. Contractually from a marketing standpoint Anet prob has to include GEMSTORE items, but highly doubt an event would only include “RNG” items.
Also, not sure this would be a 1 year celebration as
- This was not the date of release
So, why are everyone assuming that the festive dragon coffers will be gem-store only?
Because, look at all the previous ones. They’ve all been Gem store only (for the most part, except the last one, which is still a very rare drop, for most of us anyways).

From the .dat, SUPER SPOILERS:
The Captain's Council is preparing for the Dragon festival, a lot of people dislike it. "Dragons killed my brother! No more dragon festival until there are no more dragons!" - "My kids want their festival and so do I!" - "Honor the fallen heroes, NO dragon festival!" - "Hooray for the dragon festival!"
If they make the items that are found in the chests obtainable outside of them, I’ll be fine with that.
Something that could be really awesome that will unfortunately be ruined by a crappy RNG system.

This sounds like a silly premise. It’s like somebody protesting a long-standing holiday because it offends their personal beliefs.

Actually, it’s godkitten brilliant!
I love the idea of having a controversial festival in-universe. We could fight rioters all while trying to relive the events of Nightfall! (Someone found the Grasp of Insanity mask in the dat.)
It’s also great exposition into the “good” dragons of Tyria, and what became of them.

… OK, I tentatively support the idea purely on the basis that it would rather hilarious to see a Champion Instigator show up in Lion’s Arch and hurl incendiary bombs everywhere. XD
I’m more looking forward to Canthan Farmers wearing a Claw of Torment hat. That was hilarious in GW1!

No, no they have not. They had gem store items, which is something they have to do if they want to keep away from a pay 2 win cash shop (which they are doing a perfect job in that regard I might add). But to call them “gem store only” or “for the most part” is just complaining for the sake of complaining.
I dislike RNG boxes as well, but don’t vote with your mouth. Get people to vote with their wallets, because your word means jack kitten in the face of profit numbers.
Anyways, I for one find the idea of this being a controversial in-universe event to be rather interesting.

In real life, it is, but in this universe where dragons are physically and spiritually destroying the natural balance ( as far as we know) it makes sense for people to be a tad upset.

Sounds like it’s just going to be another holiday release. I could swear one of the devs a while back said that every 6 months there would be a “mini” expansion, the first being Lost Shores. The June update should be the next. I could easily be wrong about Dragon Bash, but it sounds like it will just be a month (or 2 month) holiday with no major permanent content. Maybe I was wrong about what I heard originally.
Either way, I’m not too hyped for this one. Holiday events are fun and all, but I’m still waiting for major things to happen. The apparent inclusion of RNG skins for the third living story arc in a row doesn’t help much either. Guess we’ll see on June 4th and whenever Dragon Bash is released. Maybe Anet will do something big for the 1 year anniversary, which should be in August, right?

Yea the end of august is the 1 year. (28th was official release, with some of us having 3 day head start) Pretty stoked to see what they have in store for us. I personally want a mini zhaitan, but that’s just me

So ToT bags and (most) Wintersday Presents weren’t cash shop only. Anything that contained either a mini or weapon skin HAS been cash shop only. Since the data miner says that the description of the coffer has an even rarer chance at dropping Jade weapon ticket, its pretty much guaranteed to be cash shop only. Fused weapon tickets was cash shop only and Sclerite(?) tickets might as well be, unless you sit and farm for hours on end just to get a couple.
As for voting with my wallet, I haven’t since the Winterday one (I had to get a Festivoo, but after that didn’t buy anymore). After the Halloween fiasco, I skipped the LS box completely, and have skipped all since the Wintersday. But it seems only a few of us on the forums are boycotting the cash boxes.

From the RedPosts, there should be an update on June 11th, which should start the Dragon Bash stuff, and another one on June 28th, which may either remove the content or do/add another part like this last patch.
And I’m with you, my enthusiasm for each new patch keeps diminishing. All it keeps being (for the most part) is temporary content and more cash shop rng only skins.

No offense but I stopped reading right here as this is horrendously inaccurate. SAB skins, the wintersday Minis (which were honestly pretty easy to get), Wintersday weapon skins, that new reef rider mini which drops from southsun mobs right now, and Halloween weapons all shoot this claim full of holes.
If you’re going to make an argument against RNG boxes, then for the love of god be accurate or it just weakens your stance horrendously.

All of those were not dropped directly from a bag/container, they were traded for stuff you could farm/get in the event. I suppose I should have specified that in my original post.
Any chest/container that directly dropped a/the specific skin/mini (since the one kind of wintersday, fused, and sclerite tickets are 1 for 1, I’m counting it as a direct drop instead of trade) has been cash shop only, with the exception of the Consortium chest (since it can kinda be farmed as a drop, but has a horribly low drop chance).
(I can never explain/elaborate stuff really well anyways, so of course there’s gonna be stuff I missed/left out.)

Actually, a lot of them did/do have a chance to drop from event chests. Tradeable SAB skins for example could drop from the chests inside the SAB.
You can’t really argue that all skins/minis have been cash shop only then when voicing your opposition to RNG boxes, otherwise your stance is extremely weak. A better argument would be that the cash shop vanity items have been largely dependent on RNG, which is true and can not really be argued against.

Well cash shop combat usable vanity items anyways. They have no problem letting us by useless town clothes without rng.

Forgot to mention, my last post was not really directed at you other then the part about skins from normal chests, more so at the people who cherry pick facts for their arguments ignoring everything else.
And on the subject of town clothes, still not sure why they don’t do what they did in GW1. Disable costumes in PVP (WvW and sPVP in this case) and allow them to be use when fighting in PVE. It doesn’t make sense from a greed/normal profit stand point, as they’d be selling much more if they could be worn in combat. I totally would have bought the wintersday clothes if not for that.

I’d be happier if they put in a costume vendor/merchant like they had in GW1, where I could ‘store’ it with the vendor and be able to get it back anytime I wanted it. The riding outfit would kinda be fun to run around in killing stuff. Or the Mad King outfit (as long as the jokes still play).

Yeah, I don’t see why there isn’t an option to display town clothes, but still use the stats for your regular armor, that way you can fight while wearing whatever you want without it impairing your character. Because you can’t yet wear them while in combat, I never even look at the town clothes tab, it’s kind of pointless for me.
The answer is likely found in “play the game, not the UI”. Meaning that ANet wants us to id people based on their armor style, rather than clicking and reading the target data.
A belgian website got what is said to be 1 of 14 GW2 dragon pinata’s at their office:
looks like a neat back piece coming up something for a guardian perhaps??
Judging from the release page for Dragon Bash, I was right, it’s just another holiday event. To be fair, it does look like it’ll offer plenty to do, and I suppose we could use a break from saving Southsun and all. I’m still holding out for something far more substantial, but I’ll probably enjoy Dragon Bash in the meantime.
Pinatas of dragons for us to bash
Called it
The dragon holograms were developed by Elli.
Okay, that’s not a prediction so much as a hope for more Elli.
More of a hope than an expectation:
It would be great to run into some of the known NPCs at random.
For instance:
I would like to meet Braham drinking in one corner of LA, and have a keg of ale with him. Depending on your previous achievments (like, do you have the volunteer title) the conversation could trigger a cutscene where he greets you, then drink together.
And I don’t mean he (or any NPCs) should be an essential part of the story, just standing there, celebrating like any other citizen/visitor.
I do hope for things like this, but I fear I won’t be seeing any of this anytime soon.
I am excited about this event. Haven’t been this excited since Halloween.
I just hope the rewards are medium-difficulty “to get” not very hard. Also devs lower the RNG, don’t biblically fail like u did with the karka consortium chests. U may have won a few extra $$, but u lost a lot of respect from players by doing that. Respect is harder to regain then to lose.
53 boxes opened hoping i get 1 skin for one of my multiple weapons. Guess how many flowers i got. And i am a happy case, ppl payed a ton of money on those opening hundreds and getting the same result.

That would be nice
I’m not overly excited about Dragon Bash, myself – I find actual world events (F&F; Southsun stuff) inherently more exciting than festivities. No real reason, I just do.
That being said, I find 1 month a little long for “just” a festival, so I have hopes that something goes terribly wrong and the whole thing turns out to be something more than just a party.

I agree pixel. I think a one month festival wont keep players going. Most will burn through the core content in a week. I really hope the living story will pick up again somewhere during the festival.

Well I watched the Living story festival last night and I’m pretty sure even though this is a holiday event, Living story is going to be thrown into the mix towards the end (with Kiel) and set the stones for the next Living Story update.
Am the only one reading more into that dragonish appearance at the end of the DB trailer?

So, yeah that could be a tie in to the Living Story…
