New Radiant / Hellfire Greaves
Probably going to be gemstore items (like the grenth/antler helmets, or the toxic shoulders/gauntlets). Not really sure how they could put them into the AP chests now, unless they’re at the end/new chests, but that’d really suck.
Please give us a keyring…
Obviously they are AP items… It’s not even a question
Probably the 21k reward, as always every 3k.

They could do it retroactively, they have done it before.
They could retroactively grant them to people that have enough AP, as they did when they first introduced the AP skins.
Option 1 :
Boot 1 = 21k
Boot 2 = 24k
Chest/Legs eventually at 27k, 30k, etc
Or :
Option 2 :
Boots 1 : 21k
Leg or Chest 1 : 24k
Leg or Chest 2 : 27k
etc.
Depending on what they added to the game yet or not.

They could, but lately I don’t think they want to just give us stuff anymore. Its either gemstore or extreme RNG/Timegate.
And thatd really suck if its new chests (higher than current one, 23K?). Itd take years for people to get that high (even with daily/monthlies). You’d have to do all dailies/monthlies (pve and pvp), which I’m sure not many do.

Pretty sure people were saying that back when they added the AP reward skins originally. I wouldn’t be so cynical about it.
skullmount stop spreading stupid rumors these have nothing to do with gemstore or rng.

Yeah, I agree, some ppl is already past 20k, probably the idea was already there.
Any item requiring 21K achievement points seems completely insane to me. That’s a completely unreasonable amount for a vast majority of the playerbase, at least at this juncture. Maybe in a couple more years it’d be OK, but even then only for players who have been playing the game for a long time.
Electro : The point of these items is to show off… ACHIEVEMENT POINTS!
Crazy concept, I know.

That is the entire point of a achievement point system, or it used to be, till games started giving you achievements for opening your first door.
I’m with Electro on this one. I play fairly heavily, but, one way or another, I still haven’t earned my Radiant Helm, much less worked my way all the way up through the Hellfire armor pieces and the rest of the Zenith weapons. Putting the new leg pieces at the end of the list is a questionable decision because it fights with one of the best parts of the AP rewards system: The option to choose the rewards you want first, then earn the others later.
There are plenty of brutal, long-haul rewards in the game as it is (Legendaries, Ascended gear, non-legendary but super expensive skins/exotics, etc.) so it’s nice that the AP rewards provide comparatively mid-tier rewards. Even though there are players with more than 20,000 AP, it’s not a modest effort to reach ~9,000 AP, or even 6,000. I think it would be preferable to let people finish one suit of armor (Radiant or Hellfire) before they start on the second.
These are likely the 21k reward, possibly also the 24k reward to select the other pair.
The highest AP anybody has right now is 20.4k, so these will be just in time.

I personally don’t like adding items that will be forever out of reach for most players.
1.5k – Boots
3k – Gloves
4.5k – Pants
6k – Shoulders
7.5k – Chest
9k – Helm
If you look here : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement_rewards you will find a lot of place to add stuff that could be retroactive to the players in chest that have no extra award tied to it such as the land marks that I posted above.
I think after 18k there should be a different set entirely being started at that point.
In games I found being rewarded more frequently helps keep me going rather thinking how long it will take me to get to the next landmark. With landmarks being every 1.5k it would help keep people going imo.

But then you’d have nothing to go for after not long.
The way it works now is you get a skin every 1,000. Every 3,000 it’s an armor skin, the rest are weapon skins.

For a sense of perspective, I have ~6,300 AP, and, as I understand the leaderboards, that puts me in the top 90th percentile of Jade Quarry users.
I’m not high enough to be ranked, so it returns a percent instead of a hard rank number. I don’t know that there’s a way to see stats across all worlds, but Jade Quarry is a large world, so it’s probably as good as any other for getting a sense of active users. You can find the AP leaderboard here.
So it’s something to keep in mind that, past 6,000 AP or so, those are rewards that 9/10 users aren’t going to earn. While it’s important to earn heavy players, extremely exclusive content is, for most of the world, content that may as well not exist. If the absolute highest achievers are only just now reaching 20,000, they may as well not introduce the boots at all if they require 21,000.
If I’m just getting into achievement hunting, a frequent flow of new rewards is going to keep me going, but if I’m in the top 99% of AP hunters, I’m probably in it for the hunt itself more than the skins. Sticking the boots at the very end of the chart isn’t enough to push moderate players into becoming heavy players, and it’s not exactly the coolest reward for the heaviest players to reflect their efforts.
But then you’d have nothing to go for after not long.

Not sure if you just glanced at my post. You would still get the same rewards from the chest as they stand now adding the 1.5k to the mix all the way through till 18k AP. By doing this you would have both full sets. After that they could make a whole new two sets for the achievers pas the 18k AP mark adding new land marks starting at 19.5k AP on up.
One thing we have learned from playing this game is that just because it was done one way in the past does not mean it will forever be that way.

There will and always should be items that the majority of the playerbase cannot get. It encourages exclusivity.

I’ll take that bet. It will probably be 33K.
Hey guys you should also get fractal weapons every run even on level 1. Not just from the boss chest, every fractal done!
Teq/wurm skins? Should be gotten every run, and not account bound so you can buy them on TP!
Arah is too long, they should give 1500 tokens per run so people can get the armor!
Legendaries are too exclusive, we should be able to buy them for 100 skill points!
Come on what is with this mindset that everyone should have everything. I’ve been using hellfire helm since August and I’m already thinking of changing that character’s look because I see way too many people run around with it (since all 3 types of characters can use it). And you want to make these items even LESS exclusive? They are already everywhere…
Half the fun of gearing characters is to make them look good but also different/exclusive.
There will and always should be items that the majority of the playerbase cannot get. It encourages exclusivity.
Not a good model to follow. They do this enough with gem store items I myself do not see the need for it here. My idea would encourage players to keep going because the next item feels as if it is in reach. Most of the other ways people are describing here lean towards hard core achievement farmers which are not the majority of the population. I want a system that keeps people revitalized and fueled to keep playing. Not saying to bad you didn’t play since the start because by the time you get this item the game will be faded out.
Most of the complaint about this game is the lack of giving reward for performance here is the chance to do it.

They already get chests every 500 AP. That’s enough. Also Zenith skins every 1k AP.
*EDIT : And complaints about not getting enough rewards? Are you kidding, they give items every 2 weeks for completing a couple of achievements from living story…
Chances are they’d be a 12k AP item. I’m not sure what the impact would be for those that have AP above that and were forced to get the skins from the other set.
It’s a little complicated, but they could change it so that:
3k is choice of gloves
6k is choice of mantle OR the gloves you didn’t choose
9k is choice of helm OR anything you haven’t chosen from earlier tiers
12k is choice of boots OR anything else
Past that, there would be no set tiers, just picking what you hadn’t already.
Then they could just let everybody re-pick what they want and still keep the most people happy. Also, people would have more choice for skipping things they don’t want.
It wouldn’t bother me if Achievement Points weren’t a big joke to start with.
If today you got all (and I do mean ALL) the achievements, you’d be at 11280 points. A year of doing all the dailies and monthlies gives 8620.
It’s one of the biggest time gate in this game.
I think they updated the achievement point rewards already.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Achievement_rewards
None have gone above the 21k AP mark yet according to the leaderboards.

I’m pretty sure that’s the entire design behind achievement points as they exist in this game.
They’re a measure of how much unique content you’ve done more than anything else. Daily/monthly rewards are a small fraction of the average user’s achievement points, wheras the majority of these points comes from LS metas, dungeon tracks, JP and puzzle checklists, etc.
In general, the player that diversifies their play and chases the more esoteric and limited time awards earns more achievement points than the player that just takes the path of least resistance and farms the dailies/monthlies. This is the player that has actually achieved more in terms of real gameplay experiences met and conquered. I don’t see how this is a problem, unless you’re of a mind that you should be able to have everything as soon as it exists, which destroys any long term incentive to play the game at all.

Would have liked to see being able to get the full set you want before the pieces start repeating. If I got the radiant helm, gloves and shoulders, it should go a long way in saying i want that full radiant set before getting the other pieces. please change the order in which you get these.
Yeah, I’m hoping i can trade the radiant stuff I got for the other hellfire stuff. I really want destroyer armor. But it’s looking like I’ll have to wait a bit longer to get it, as I don’t think they’d let me trade them, kind of sucks but I’m pretty sure that’ll be the case
