“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

Evon is a weasel, he’ll first rescue his monetary goods and then secure a passage for himself. We’ll probably see him again, somehow he reminds me of Scarlet in that respect.

Evon will charge the innocents of LA 15% tax before he’d even lift a single whisker in their defence. If he were ever to mobilise and form a defence, they would aptly be called “Black Guards.” The only good Gnashblade is a dead one and judging by the trailer, “Mr. E” might just be killed while he scurries to escape with his bags of gold weighing him down.
um you do realize how insane it is to try to form a militia to protect an area under the control of another government right, not to mention all the horrible ways this can go wrong a good example of this is Benedict Arnold it doesn’t completely show the scope of the situation or relieve him of his betrayal afterwards but its a true story that shows how bad that situation could go. Paying for the militia’s wages out of your own money, personal injury, publicly attacked, not being permitted to quit/resign (these are just examples from Arnold’s career, later he used his influence to make money off the troop supplies and in the end betrayed Washington and the revolutionary army too, so he was by no means a saint.)

I don’t know what’s more upsetting to me, the fact that Evon is running for his life (Cause I quite like him and he better not die) or the fact that he’s running for his life in the opposite direction of what was once the Trading Post area in LA.
Trading Post will fall. Good thing the Consortium will be able to just step in and give us better deals and offering

Evon’s a businessman couldn’t he simply officially list this “private army” as a caravan protection service that the Black Lion Trade Company is offering as a means to relieve the stains that Scarlet has placed upon the Lionsguard. The Captain’s Council could of probably have no problem with this, as their primary concern is ensuring trade flows. With Scarlet occupying the bulk of the Lionsguard there would be an opportunity for bandits and such to gather in force and strike remote havens without fear of reinforcements or immediate retaliation from the Lionsguard.

Evon eats babies, it is an established fact…
Lies , why didn’t he eat Taimi then. -.-
He tried, I barely stopped him in time, ever since then the poor lass is hiding from the monster in the mists to affraid to tell anyone what happened…
It’s posts like this that made me happy I voted for Kiel, if Evon had won we would have had a competent person in office who would’ve had defenses! Why have that when you could have the chaos an unprepared Kiel causes?
The entire console was against defenses we learned this in the recent living story. I doubt Evon would have had any more sway then Keil.
Oh the hell he wouldn’t, a few gold here, a few gold there and Evon now controls the whole council, I mean seriously the guy has money out he kitten if you couldn’t tell from his campaign strategy of throwing bags of money + voting tokens out like candy.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Captain_Shud according to this other council member, they are the most wealthy person in lions arch, because of the money they make off their asura gates. “And you’re smarter than you look-the person with the biggest ship or the fanciest clothes isn’t richest. You know who actually is? Me, my friend. Me.” might be hard to buy the loyalty of the council when there are people on it with more wealth then Evon (and thus more power to buy the council’s votes for themselves)

I hope both Kiel and Evon die screaming in terror and pain.
I hope Kiel meets her doom in a horrible and terrible way. And then, at the last moment, Evon charges in, catches her foes off guard, tosses the injured Kiel over a shoulder and runs to safety.
And thus begins a long running romance/contest between the two, where they keep track of who’s saved who the most times now. Each trying to one-up the other, neither ever admitting to the growing feelings between them that everyone else can so clearly see.

No self respecting human would EVER romance a charr. For any reason. The very thought leaves a vile taste. The only time a charr is remotely pleasing is when they are rolling around on fire in their death throes.

Jory <3s Evon for saving her from an Assassin attack. That’s why there’s currently “negotiations” between her and Kas, because Jory is torn between the two. Everyone loves a hero, but Evon is too busy running the Black Lion Trading Company, and protecting Lion’s Arch. There’s just not enough hours in a day for both love and war.
Such is the life of a great hero like Evon. Sacrificing a happy life in order to protect the citizens of LA.

Separatist scum!
More like Evon, the scum that he is, has been funneling funds to help Scarlet pay for all her madcap schemes. His price in return, for her to level Lions Arch so he can buy up the property dirt cheap. Does he care of the lives lost or the families ruined??? Of course not as long as he profits, then its all justified.
Until that scum meets true Justice by the hands of Ellen Kiel!

Typical Kiel supporter, trying to demonize free enterprise.
Gnashblade has a long history of helping the citizens of Lion’s Arch: be it by providing them services they depend upon, or by contributing the local community.
Kiel on the other hand sold her soul to secret Asuran interests in order to buy her way on to the council, while Gnashblade only used his hardwon personal assets for his campaign.
The “hardwon personal assets” that he opted to keep from LA merchants who had been raided by the Aetherblades instead of returning them to their rightful owners?

Actually, you’re a bit mistaken on the effects. The true mechanics would be:
While active, each time you kill a foe, you gain 100% chance for Ellen Kiel to take credit for your kill.

When you have Evon’s one active, the resulting mechanic is:
While active when Evon is on the Captain’s Council, all Black Lion Keys are discounted, and Lion’s Arch would be well defended.
Unfortunately, people fell for Kiel’s discounted Waypoint costs. People didn’t do the maths, so they didn’t realize that the discount was equivalent to killing one foe, and getting a loot drop. Now Lion’s Arch is being destroyed because Kiel was elected.

Did Evon tell you that? Because that is incorrect. activating either Evon’s or Ellen’s would just give them a 100% of claiming your deeds as their own. Evon doesn’t deserve that credit, he’s a good businessman but your the hero. Why let him bask in your glory? Why sing his praise when you could have him sing yours? Think about it, the city can still be saved. Evon has already written it off and Ellen doesn’t have the resources to retake the city. But we do, think of the glory you could obtained. Think of how the people of Lion’s Arch would whisper your name for all time.
Note to self: Don’t watch Dawn of War videos on youtube prior to commenting I sound a little like Sindri there…just a very little bit.
Anyways on a serious note the mathematics would still favor Ellen. Gems cost real currency whereas waypoints cost in game currency.

You’re wrong on multiple fronts.
1) Gems do not require the spending of any real money. You can use in game currency too.
2) Evon doesn’t take credit for your work. We fight as a team, so the credit is shared. That’s typically of a great hero like Evon, always making sure us players are recognized for our deeds.

My point still remains that it would cost the player significantly more to buy Black Lion Keys than it would using the waypoints. In the short-term the waypoints seem to be the better bargain, and from my observations of most shoppers in my area these deals sell more than others. I’m actually curious what would of happen if both were tied, would we have gotten both?

Do you have any proof or is this simply propaganda? Also he isn’t a hero, he is still extorting money from the people of Lion’s Arch just in a more cunning manner.

I’m not sure if you’re that you understand how Kiel fooled the player population with her promise of cheaper Waypoints. I’ll explain. The amount of Silver saved per WP usage was a guesstimated 25%, or at most 2 Silver per lv 80 character. The amount you saved on a per-use basis can be easily offset by killing one enemy, and getting an item drop. A single T5 drop or Fine/Masterwork item would be the value of the savings. Going further, market players could make the same money back without leaving Lion’s Arch. So by doing the maths, the amount of money Kiel supporters claimed they saved within the one month of temporary savings, is equal to the amount of money an Evon supporter makes by spending a couple of minutes on the Trading Post.
As for your claims that Evon is no hero, need I remind you that Lion’s Arch would have been under the claws of a corrupt Warband leader? Thanks to his quick action, he saved the citizens of LA. But he’s not one to gloat. No, we recognize Evon as a silent hero. One who uses his skills to protect the innocents from within the shadows as Mister E. Tis expected of an honorable charr as Evon. He only wants what’s best for everyone. That’s why he ran for the open Council seat.

No one was tricked as you claim. It is obvious not everyone wants to play Tyria Stock Markets. Instead the majority wanted to explore the world.
Also did you include the price deflation that would occur because of the surplus of items being sold on the trading post? This is something easily overlooked but it is vitally important when one is attempting to project the potential gains and losses. The only argument that you can make that will hold on its own is that the Discounted Keys would of benefit Anet more than the discounted Waypoints. While real currency isn’t the only means of purchasing gems it is at a fixed rate, thus be the easiest to use.

It still in the claws of a corrupted warband leader, just one who knows pirates can’t be intimidated through show of force. Also he not Mister E as he has no interest in Divinity’s Reach, which E clearly does. As for the Captain’s Council position, it would have given him a opportunity to make even more money.
Your propaganda tactics will not work on me, I see Evon for what he truly is. The only questions I have for him is what does the Ash Legion want Lion’s Arch money for.

Evon gets infected by the Super Toxin and attacks us in his madness, and we’re forced to kill him? Oooh yeah, I bet THAT would roil them up something fierce.
The same could happen to Ellen too, which I’d be sad about, but I’d be willing to accept it as long as Rox and Co. are unharmed.
Ellen going out in a blaze of glory fighting for the lives of Lion’s Arch’s people would be better death than she’s likely to manage under any other circumstances.
She’s no Boromir, but she ought to be able to pile up a pretty good mountain of Scarlet-minion corpses before she goes down.
