How are we feeling about the downfall of Lion’s Arch coming this Tuesday?
A.) Good riddance
B.) Nuuu! D,;
C.) I donut care.
A
Lion’s Arch is a open sewer, with crude wooden shacks built on it, populated by criminals. Whats to miss?
I live in Divinity’s Reach btw which is considerably posher then you…
A) Good riddance.
It is not that I dislike LA, I love the city and I would rather see another city going down. However, I welcome changes that might conflict with the PS because it means that the story is moving forward
I just hope there won’t be a huge open event like Karka’s one this time, or I won’t even be seeing it falling. I want to keep this new G-card alive for a while.
B
Lion’s Arch is one of the most interesting areas in the game, visually, and taking noob friends around to get all the waypoints is almost a nostalgia trip. I will be sad to see it go, I like the Mystic Forge hangout spot and how the jump puzzles work themselves into the world.
D. While I am sad to see it go (and have the screenies to prove it) It gives me hope that maybe Anet is turning things around. Can’t wait to see what’s next

Where am I going to AFK now?
D) I’ll avoid seeing it for at least a day. Patch day’s going to be a kitten…
I never liked the LA architecture, so in that sense I wouldn’t mind it all being razed to the ground so it can be rebuilt. I DO dislike the fact that I’d be losing access to my “game hub” though, however temporarily.
C
15 charsssss
Bye bye LA.
Wait, did someone say something about donuts?

I like the natural surounding the coastal line and the Big Rocks, The Caves, the Jumpin puzzles (especially the pirate one ) and ofcourse good old Lions Arch 1.0.
But The core city (Lions Arch 2.0) made out of pirate ships may burn to the ground hehe :-) Hope a Beautiful City made of stone will Arise out of its ashes (not shiny stile like Divinities Reach but more of a Castle(Fort) in the style of Pre Searing Ascalon GW1.
Or it gets lost forever and we get a nice Tengu city eventually or a new City on a new location.
Eh…don’t really care, as long as we get a new spot for getting to all the cities quickly. No, the Royal Terrace doesn’t count.

Burn it to the ground and don’t bring it back like nothing happened a few weeks later with just some hint. Make the living world actual a living world..
I love this thread. Show such emotion that player feel toward the game. Weather you will love to see it go or devastated its good to see the emotion.
I say, Scarlett burn that kitten to the ground. Show the population the definition of pain.
A) We need more peril in PvE. Players need to feel a threat and respond to it. The Marionette was a good exercise in teaching players how to work together. Hopefully we can build on those experiences and use them for the Battle of LA, provided the events require a moderate to high amount of teamwork.
I’m happy ArenaNet is destroying something cherished and beloved. We as the playerbase community can join together, retake and rebuild the city one brick at a time, and love every moment of it.

BATTLE of L.A TAKEEEEEEEEEEE 3!!! I was quite fond of fighting the White mantle in the First Invasion. Then again at Claw Island leading up to The risen attacking L.A for yet a second time . Now , I’m just happy to burn it down myself . Go Scarlett!!!

I choose C. It doesn’t really matter to me.
Honestly? I love the idea of the dynamic world and that we can lose major cities within the game. It does make the world feel very alive and I look forward to more of this in the future.
However due to the fact that it is tied into the Scarlet story arc which does nothing but give me a headache each time I try to read it. I just do not care anymore and if anything I saddened that our first what looks to be major change that is just awesome is tied into such a horrid arc and it is unlikely I will read or listen to any of it. I’m done giving the current story in GW2 chances.
I am going to miss LA and this Friday will be the last reset day for wvw in LA feels like its going to be an emotional one.
C
/15 char crap
A
I welcome the change- it is great to see the Living World actually living.
if they use it to further the story so much the better.
I really hope it doesn’t just come back a couple of weeks later.
Let us resettle and build a new player city somewhere else- preferably with housing
A
i enjoy LA as it is (minus the lag and all the people just standing there) but change is usually a good thing and i can’t wait to see what they do for LA v2.1
Good. Change is good.
A combination of A & B. Just for the sake of nostalgia and convenience I’ll miss it. But for the central city in the game, the city that all the races gather at, it’s pretty ramshackle. I would think a city with that importance (with all the Asura gates from the racial capitals and the gates to the WvW battlegrounds) it’d be better looking and better put together than just the flotsam of an old pirate fleet.
I’m hoping after Scarlet et al get done with it we drive them out and rebuild LA (on the same spot) to a similar size and grandeur of Divinity’s Reach.

C) I’ll find some other place to afk and I’ll go to vigil keep to use the mighty mystic toilets (behold the power of the mystic toilets ! ).

I don’t care about new LA much, but i’d be really sad to see all vestiges of the old one disappear. At the same time, city location and it’s usefulness as a central player hub is something i’d really, really hate to lose.
So, i don’t mind it getting blown up that much, but only if it gets rebuilt.
As far as LS goes, Anet seems to be going for cheap theatrics in order to salvage a bad story. I’m not exactly thrilled with that.
B, – I really think it is the most beautiful, interesting and well made city in the whole game.
With all those hidden nooks and crannies, idle banter and beautiful vistas (and not just the ‘official’ ones ). I love the melting-pot pirate feeling it has and how ‘alive’ it is. You can hang out in a crowd of hundred people but can just as well wander off an enjoy a little bit of privacy – in the same city.
Hopefully it will retain this characteristic charm even after these new events. Would really hate it if it got replaced by something we have already somewhere else. I love how unique it is right now.
But that sure makes me want to fight for it
I’m not really sure. It depends what they replace it with, assuming it is going away entirely. It isn’t my favorite city by any means – out of the major hubs it came last because the repurposed ships aesthetic isn’t all that charming to me – but it is unique, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I miss it eventually.
A
I really like the city, but I think it would be awesome if it was replaced by a ruin, every time you walk past a burned-down building it will remind you of LA in its glory days, them feels are gonna be crazy
A
Lion’s Arch, and the Captain’s Council, are wealthy enough that they can finally build a true major city. One that can finally show that LA is the true economic center of Tyria. As much as I like the looks of LA as it is now, it’s was only a city that was slapdashily build out of some wrecked pirate ships.
They should keep the pirate theme, but them should add a lot more elements from all the different races that make their home there.
I’m also hoping that they aren’t going to pull an Angel Grove for the old Power Rangers. Huge monster battle takes place there, and “Oh, Look!” it’s entirely rebuilt the next day! As if by magic!
Mixed feelings here.
For one, I have a nostalgia feeling about LA, playing Guild Wars since launch of GW1…
Second, I don’t mind it being destroyed in battle, provided the battle is awesome, and that later there will be more left than ruined, ugly and sad location where nothing happens. Doesn’t have to be city in there, but as long as it’s interesting, it’s fine with me.
And lastly, the biggest minus – if I ever wanted to see LA destroyed, after White Mantle and Mursaat invasion, Risen, Krytans, tsunami etc, I’d want the city to be razed by soemone AT LEAST equal to those forces, not as nonsensical and flimsy as Scarlet.
Don’t get me wrong, LS IS very much improved since Tower of Nightmares, and keeps improving, but that does not change how badly conceived and written Scarlet is.
It could just as well be destroyed by Pinkie Pie, in my opinion, and it wouldn’t be more ridiculous. I’ll just play it and loudly yell “lalalala” with eyes closed everytime Scarlet is mentioned or on screen, as always.
Don’t care about Lion’s arch as a location, hope the event itself and the aftermath will be fun though.
How can they destroy LA? Aren’t there a myriad of personal story quests that take place in it? At the very least I certainly recall the destiny’s edge reuniting personal mission. They’d have to change the person story (essentially retconning past, established lore) in order for LA to be destroyed, no?
Also A. Forrealz, blow it up.
A) If LA will really be totally different from now on. If it’s going to turn back as it was before after a few weeks I’ll change my vote in C.. i don’t care.

On the grounds that it won’t really change anything. LA will be given back to us at a later date after we defeat Mary Sue.
This is supposed to be an AAA mmorpg right? …whell there’s my answer. Let’s hope they stay true to their product’s ranking

All essential services that are unique to Lion’s Arch will be redirected to Vigil Keep for the time being, including Asura gates to other cities, Fractals of the Mists, and incarcerated cactus-faced troublemakers. Personal story steps will be accessible through a new entrance. Hwang’s team has taken steps to ensure that the city will remain fully explorable for map completion, although if you’re especially fond of a particular view…well, you might want to grab screenshots while you can. We were also warned that exploration isn’t exactly going to be as safe as it currently is.
…It does make the world feel very alive and I look forward to more of this in the future. ….
It doesn’t feel alive for me, as long as only bad stuff is permanent and good stuff isn’t. They turned Kessex Hills into something ugly and they are going to turn LA into something ugly.
Why no positive things stay around? Like defeating all the risen in the first map of Orr? Or slaughtering all the Tamini in Harvati Highlands and conquering it for humans?
A
It makes me feel that the LS has real consequences.
A
Let it burn :P

Hoping that the other cities will be shown less neglect in the future.
A
Hate this place.
B
It is my ultimate favourite game-city and tbh I have my doubts that they can replace/compensate it by whatever that can impress me in the same way.

LA should have burned to the ground a long time ago. First risen, then karka, then civilians and one of their leaders get killed during a celebration. The Lionguard is so woefully incompetent it doesn’t make sense to me the place is still standing. No one sane would even want to live there. :p
I never liked the architecture either. There are beauteous locales at the outskirts, but the town proper is a trash pile comprised of smashed ships. The only difference between much of LA and the typical krait hovel is maintenance and furnishing. >.<
A) didn’t like in back in GW1 too much and pretty much “hate” it in GW2 now.
sob I want my droknars forge back sob

I’ll admit I laughed on that one.

Burn it to the ground. Remove it from the game. Have us reclaim it in a year or more and rebuild it in honor of the original in likeness. Makes the content feel more meaningful. Maybe the displaced char and humans can clean up and rebuild the city of ascalon as a shared location.

I too have a fourth opinion, compared to those given.
Lions Arch is a beacon of survival. It survived the Charr, the White Mantle, and even the rise of Zhaithan and his horde of undead. So too shall it survive Scarlet Briar. It has been beaten, but never broken. True that pirates rebuilt Lions Arch, but they did so to create a safe haven, a place where all can come to be free. Throughout the ages it has been a beacon of hope, a place to rally when the going gets rough, as it has now.
I feel that once the smoke has cleared, new leadership will rise and Lions Arch will rise again with a new look and an even more powerful stance to crush all who threaten Tyria.
I’m afraid I do not see reconstructions can.
Still a beautiful place destroyed.
What makes me say that?
“a change forever.”
I hope ArenaNet will give us beautiful maps has come to compensate.
