I get I’ll get flamed, probably, for this response, but honestly, I don’t understand why Marjory got so hurt and Braham basically didn’t even have his life threatened.

(Side note, during the cut scenes, did any of you think it was weird and immersion breaking how your character just stood there, still, staring in one direction or the other?)

Lol, while I love the idea of a Norn being built like a freaking tank, we both know that isn’t realistic. Bones and flesh of Norn guardian versus Human Necromancer are essentially equal (especially considering that necromancers have super high health pool and guardians super low) in terms of the game mechanics, I really don’t think it makes as much sense as you’re implying.

Game mechanics and lore don’t usually mix well. Lore-wise Guardians are the ones who protect their teammates. They are supposed to take more beating than a dead summoning spellcaster who rarely engage in physical combat.

Marjory was also closer than Braham was. Generally speaking those closer to a blast tend to take more damage.

Then you have to take their race and general size into account as well. Majory is small, human, and female. Braham is a huge male norn. Those factors are also going to influence how much damage one can sustain. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means calling Marjory ‘delicate’ but her smaller stature, and less dense frame (both muscular and skeletal) are going to suffer more in an impact than Braham’s would.

It’s a fantasy world afterall, and norn are pretty much described as Hercules in flesh, able to lift things way beyond their weight and battle foes way out of their size difference. the norn is a softie
we need more manly men in the living story like Logan

Oh dear lord. Logan was outsmarted by a 12 year old progeny.

men need to be manly , not smart .

So sad. Lol

I’d, for once, like to see a non Asura non Sylvari non Charr intelligent male character. As a female, I want to fantasize and RP.

logan is not smart but has drive i dont think a minor injury would prevent him from standing up.
norn stayed down and being useless along with his useless kitty.
terrible story characters.

action combat made mmos better lol

It’s probably just a combination of different body structure/size and Marjory landing badly enough to hit her head (and according to Kasmeer, breaking a rib or two).
They both stayed behind in Lion’s Arch to help get the rest of the refugees to safety, so Rox’s medical skills must be really good. Braham was even able to walk around and fight with a broken leg!

So moral of this thread: Braham is useless.

But yeah, they landed differently, understandable.

And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

Consider also that Braham is much taller than Marjory, making it more likely that a blast starting on the ground would hit Marjory’s head (hence concussion) than it is to hit the tall norn.

So your theory is that the blast knocked Marjory out? I thought it was the fall.

I guess, but even if it was the fall, the lower mass of Marjory would probably result in her being propelled back more than Braham, so even if it was the fall, I would think that Marjory would take it harder.

This is true, if the game followed this kind of physics. I’m wondering now what really happened to their bodies, as we see them blasted but we don’t see their fall. I think Marjory was knocked further (but maybe my reference frame is wonky). But I don’t know.

Still, Braham had a broken leg, he should have been able to get up haha.

So, Marjory was hurt decently bad. She got knocked out, looked a little roughed up, looked dead.

Braham broke his leg. That’s it? Why? And by the way that whole part of the scene, I was just thinking about Peter Griffin clutching his knee, going “ssssstttt ahhhhhhh” for 45 seconds.

Even putting archetypes of warrior vs thief defense aside, I still think it’s perfectly plausible.

The blast just struck Braham lower, resulting in a fracture, whereas Marjory didn’t get any broken bones, but instead got a concussion.

Yeah. I guess if the big Norn hit his head it would be all over.

The tall large Bookah is near brain damaged anyway

Even if he broken his head it wouldn’t matter, there’s nothing in there worth mentioning. Marjory, being a detective, needs her brains so it was a more significant injury.

Agreed. You think he can still hit things with his mace if his brains are leaking out? I say, an experiment is in order!

(Crap I think I should be an Inquest)

It’s alright, as you should know the Norn are the least significant race of the five major races.

Forgive me, I thought that was the Charr.

Significance:

Asura
.
.
.
.
.
humanSylvari
.
.
.
Norn
.
.
.
Charr

I knew that was wrong, and you should be aware of it.
Cepha: An exhaustive study of Tyrian physiognomy led me to derive what I call Cepha’s Constant.
Cepha: Multiplied by the mean ratio of body mass to brain size, it yields an important racial metric.
Cepha: Namely, said race’s importance as a factor in the Eternal Alchemy.
Cepha: Asura scored highest, naturally. Then, in descending order, we have sylvari, charr, human, and norn.
