Hello guys,
I made already post about my farming BL keys, I have 0 from 14 chests. Now I know why. This event blocked scraps because from every chest we have 5 alliance bags supplies. That means there is lower chance for scraps. This is warning for people who want to farm scraps for torment instead of buy it.

Yah, I did for a key last night and got those supply bags, which was annoying. Imo they shouldn’t be in there. I recommend waiting until those bags are gone also.
That’s a pretty kittenumption in regards to how the loot table works…

I don’t think it did, as I still get some scraps drop. Maybe it decreased the rate at which they drop, though I seem to notice a decrease every time we have a new set of weapon skins out, lol (probably imagined).
They stated, that those bags are additional. But I had 5 keys that gave me only bags + 1 booster, so there seems to be some kind of bug there.
On the other hand, I got 2 scraps and 1 ticket just 2-3 days ago.
I opened six chests on Friday night and got three scraps. That seems pretty good.

But won’t Tormented weapons be out of season by then?
Really I feel sorry for anyone who actually spends money on black lion keys right now, they’re getting duped HARD because yeah, it took 25 chests to get 5 scraps for me, I had 5 left over from a prior key farm.
Black lion chests need to NEVER have crap that you can just get normally in game. Those are considered booby-prizes and make people feel like they wasted their money.
I mean the unidentified dyes (dye packs are fine), scrolls of knowledge (tomes of knowledge are fine), essences of luck, and mystery tonics.. those all need to be removed, along with wintersday gifts (when they’re in season) and alliance bags.
I won’t spend a wooden nickle on keys until the booby-prizes are all gone.

Black lion chests are a waste of money. I wouldnt even consider spending gems for them if there were a 99% discount.

True, they may be out of season before they remove the bags. Buts it’s just so freaking annoying to get a key, open a chest and then get something that I can get in a couple of minutes while doing PvE. >.>
I guess if you want a ticket you have to open them and be annoyed. It almost feels like ANet is trolling the people who spent real money on keys. “Thanks for spending money. Here’s something you could have easily gotten in game.”
(For the record, I do key runs so for me it’s annoying. If I spent real money on keys it would be infuriating).

Oh no! You opened a handful of RNG boxes and didn’t immediately get the random thing you wanted out of them? You poor things.
Oh wait, no. It’s RNG, you’re not guaranteed a scrap, give it a rest.

Ehhhh… I’m pretty sure the alliance bags have absolutely no influence on the drop rates of the RNG stuff… They don’t add to the loot table of things to roll. There are a guaranteed 5 bags for every chest opened, in addition to whatever you would have gotten.
I bought 25 keys during the discount. I got 5 scraps and an actual claim ticket. RNG is RNG is RNG.
Alliance bags are an additional reward and remove nothing from the chest at all. They do not take the place of any other reward you may have gotten. Your luck is just bad and you didn’t get a scrap.

I got a scrap, 5 bags, gathering booster, 2 unidentified dye. (I think that was it, maybe 1 more item?)
OP proven false. Not only did I get the item that was “Removed” but I also got the item that “Replaced” it.

I’ve gotten four scraps in the last two days alone.
OP proven false. Not only did I get the item that was “Removed” but I also got the item that “Replaced” it.
Or it’s bugged, as people are suggesting. It’s very rare for a bug to polite enough to be painfully obvious and consistent at a glance. For it to be replacing/removing just some items and not others, or only at certain times, is quite possible.
I got 2 keys from dailies within the past 7 days and saved them in my bank as I was going to wait until this LS ended to use them due to reading this thread. I decided not to wait and used them tonight to open two chests.
Chest 1
Chest 2
So 3 scraps in two bags. That’s the best luck I’ve ever had with getting them, actually.
I just wish we could buy the ticket scraps with gems.
Your sample size of 14 opened chests is far too small to determine anything about the drop rate of Black Lion Ticket Scraps.
My partner and I have been doing a bunch of key runs over this entire living story and have managed to obtain 4 full tickets from scraps so far and we each currently have 9 scraps in the bank awaiting that final scrap for a full ticket.
My best streak so far was a scrap on one run, followed by a scrap and a total makeover kit twice in a row(!), followed by TWO scraps in ONE chest.
The 5 Alliance Supply bags are EXTRA and do not count as loot from any of the three drops the chest normally gives you… therefore they are not impeding your ability to obtain tickets and/or scraps.
RNG is RNG!
I just wish we could buy the ticket scraps with gems.
But you probably wouldn’t pay as much…
10 keys is 900 gems normally ($11.25 in real money)…
Most weapon skins in the Gem Store are 600 gems ($7.50 cash).
Even if you average one scrap from each chest you open, you’re still spending more for a single Black Lion Claim Ticket. And older weapons require multiple claim tickets.

As said before. RNG is RNG. Scraps are not guaranteed, therefore it’s just as possible to get a scrap out of every chest as it is to not get a scrap ever for all the chests in the world.
(I know that’s not statistically sound, but the concept is understandable.)

RNG is fun when every outcome is good but some are better than others. it’s not fun and is frustrating when there’s booby prizes everywhere and only a few outcomes are good.
If every outcome of the chests was something you couldn’t get normally in the game, it’d be fun, nobody would feel just plain ripped off when they spend money on it, because you’re getting things you can’t normally get in game.
But when you get a bunch of booby prizes you can get normally in the game, you end up feeling angry and ripped off.

I’d advice anyone to just stop buying keys with gems. That sends ANet a wrong message. Buy the skins from TP if you want them, don’t support their random skin lottery.

You really don’t understand what gambling is, do you? Money, a new car, virtual do-dads, it’s all the same thing. You are paying for the CHANCE to get something you want. What you have is the FAR greater chance to get NOTHING you want. That’s how it works. If you got something you wanted every time you wouldn’t need to keep getting more because you would probably get everything you wanted in a finite number of “rolls.” Since you only have a chance at getting something good, though, you will keep throwing your money at the screen hoping to win it big.
Welcome to the world. It’s cold outside.

Let’s take a matter of scale into play as well.
People spend $1-2 for a chance at $12-$40 million dollars, or more if the jackpot is larger
The risk (compared to the reward) is infinitesimally small, the chances are extremely long, but hey, the potential payout is life changing.
Here, the risk is $1.50 a pop, and the chances are very long (not quite 1 in 200,000,000 long but still pretty long to get a full ticket), and the payout would be worth $7.50 if it were for sale in the gem shop straight up.
That’s the worst gambling I’ve ever seen. I can go into a casino right now and play nickle video poker on a $1.50 and make $10 (I almost never actually blank out and go home empty handed, and even if I do, you get complimentary beer so it ends up in my favor anyway) with pretty good odds.
Even if they put a scrap in every single chest guaranteed if it didn’t get a ticket or a backpack skin, and took away the booby prizes so everything was gemshop or chest exclusive, you’d still be paying $15.00 for an item that’d be worth $7.50.
It’s not just gambling it’s BAD gambling, and they don’t even give you complimentary beer.

This thread kinda got derailed, so I’ll address the OP’s concerns.
The 5 Alliance Bags were a " temporary bonus" in addition to what you get normally. They do NOT block your chances from getting BL Tickets or BL Scraps. I opened 79 BL chests recently, and got a ticket and scraps. Someone else also opened a large amount of BL chests, and had their results posted on the forums.
Bottom line, RNG is RNG. I suggest opening more BL chests if you want to beat RNG.
Oh no! You opened a handful of RNG boxes and didn’t immediately get the random thing you wanted out of them? You poor things.

Weapon skins that are sold straight up on the gem store are sold for 600 gems, that is $7.50.

Belladonna of Dreams cost 650gold, which is about £115 if bought with gems. That skin costs substantially more than $7.50. Comparatively BL weapons are cheaper than this skin, so following that logic, good value.
Drawing erroneous comparisons helps no-one. Bottom line, keys are expensive, it’s a gamble, don’t like it, don’t buy it. Want the skins, but don’t want to spend money? Buy them on the TP, they aren’t that expensive.
its RNG…. Saturday i got 0 from 20keys, yesterday 8Scraps from 10 Keys… kitten happens
25 keys:
110 supply bags, gawd knows how many boosters and “junk,” 3 more keys, a hairstyle kit, assorted dyes I already had, and 5 scraps, and 3 full tickets.
Sometimes I do get “lucky.” Makes me want to go buy a Mega Ball, except that I will guarantee you that I will be 1 number away on all my number picks…lol
Bottom line, RNG is RNG. I suggest opening more BL chests if you want to beat RNG.
Actually, I suggest opening no more BL chests if you want to beat RNG. With BL chests, the only way to win is to not play (insert 80s movie references here).

Using Gold prices to Gem prices is not an accurate measure as Gold to Gem Prices are volatile.
Gem to Dollar prices are stable.
