"Giant Jungle Worm"
lag is the most mayor problem here, plus the effect that its a low level event. lower your settings for these things. If you have any use of minion’s use them (mesmer clones, summons, minion’s turrets). You only have to put in a one single hit to get reward. The most commonly error people make there is that you attack the body and not the head. and it goes very quick. having anything summoned helps a lot, also AoE skills helps hitting the hitable spot atleast once.
Do not trust on melee!!

It’s broken. Doesn’t scale properly. Hopefully it will be fixed in couple months.
The problem with the wurm is that it can be damaged before the event even starts, which is when it becomes targetable.
Which map is this in?
This is the chain near Twilight Arbor in Caledon Forest, Jeffrey.
It’s the culmination of the The Battle for Wychmire Swamp event chain, to be specific.
The worm dies really really fast, it doesn’t seem to scale that well with more people in the area.
Almost all world bosses need to be tuned in difficulty. Shadow Behemoth goes down in like 30 seconds. The temple bosses are fine.

Basically the giant Jungle Wurm burst up from the ground and did that roar-animation and then simply vanished. And apparently only 1 person got loot and the 30 or so others who were there didn’t get anything. There wasn’t even a corpse of the worm as it basically died before the final event even started.

I’d like to give a little update.. I came across the Wurm today since it was where I logged off from last night. I was able to actually target him and also get gold against him, he lasted for an amazing 20 seconds or so.
Apologies to ANet developers for my brash attitude in the OP, I was pretty annoyed given the amount of time I spent waiting for him to appear.
Still, it would be nice to see some of the bugs in a lot of the events become a priority.

Update: I’ve made a change so the wurm can no longer be killed before the event starts, and increased the max scale of the event so it should be slightly less zergable. It’s in QA’s hands right now for testing, and should be in a future update.

Just got done with the Wurm.
It never appeared. No corpse appeared after the AOE animations dissipated. No chest for anybody present.
Maybe you need to buff the health up a little?

Fix is not entirely working as I have seen it be killed multiple times b4 the event actually starts today and in the past few days.

It has to go through QA, so I would expect it with the April update near the end of the month.

Sadly the temple bosses are mostly ignored I hardly see people do arah events anymore ever since the dragon bosses and the like got buffed loot :/
Hell I don’t see anyone EVER doing the temple events anymore.. I kept trying to do them today and it was a fail boat train and has been for a week or so now.

Thats great, i hope the scaling is upped considerably, and you may want to look at other low level events, shadow behemoth and maw for example get zerged in seconds.

I just yesterday came across this boss for the first time. And I do hope that the change you mentioned isn’t in the game yet, because it’s simply not fun to be there as a melee without heavy aoe spells. It was dead before I could even target it. And simply throwing my axe around didn’t give me any hit… Even my bonfire didn’t do any damage (I didn’t even get a bronze reward…)
It is still killed if you dont put a dot on it. it dies so quickly most people can not even target it. Might bump up his HP!! quick fix ill say.
Great Jungle Wurm now lives longer since the new patch. Everyone got a chance on the wurm and chest.
There is one Issue I have noticed recently with the Giant Jungle Worm is the massive lag spikes. I just tried the event and the event not long started and the Wurms health was 75% to 80% and as soon as I got within skill rang of it I couldn’t cast any spells or use any skills. The lag was only effecting my skills and preventing me from using any, The wurm was moving as was other players (but their skills were not working for as far as I could see), Chat was working fine as I could send and receive messages normally. Then all of a sudden after like 30 seconds to 1 minute the Wurm would just drop dead and event over and I got nothing for it. Then everything went back to normal, it just causes major lag when it spawns and game become unplayable until it dies. The Fire Elemental does this also on rare occasions but no where near as often or as bad the the Giant Jungle Wurm.
