New and More Creative Dynamic Events
More crazy ideas:
I was thinking some events feel like they aren’t collaborative enough, even though Gw2 is supposed to be known for dynamic group events. As you progress into higher levels and maps, I believe the events should also become more complex and interesting. so…
Parallel Team Multi Event Chains – Not that this is a flawless idea, it’d be cool to see a group event triggered and a NPC who is the commander for the event. The NPC requires you to register as a party of five. So whoever gathers there can form groups amongst themselves or if they’re already in groups thats fine as well. Each party when you register with the NPC, will be given a unique objective. For example, if you were taking out a specific enemy post, there will be different positions the teams will occupy or control before the next step of the event and set of objectives is given. If there are enough teams, objectives can be repeated indeed. i.e. if there are five unique objectives, then on the sixth team they will be given the same objective as the first team. Forming groups and registering and onward, hopefully encourages or requires the use of chat and communication between people in the event.
After the first objective is reached by all teams, the next step of the chain event will happen and each team will receive new objectives. As a result you have a very collaborative, tactical and involving event. It will be team work not just within a team but also between the different teams because you want to make sure all the teams are successful at their objectives so the next step of the event can happen. New players can join at each step of the event, by joining the parties or making parties of their own etc. Else, there’s always other DE available until you return to this one with friends you want to try it with…?
Mini game Events – I.e. fishing, taking a group lesson with a chef, and so on which results in interesting rewards upon completion.
Exploration events – A NPC gathers a group of players and guides them through a initially hidden and inaccessible spot in the map. Perhaps there are bosses waiting inside, or other goodies to be unlocked. These spots are only accessible in this type of Dynamic Event.

Right now I would not mind much of any of this aside from the permanent history changing events, while events that would change the world or a full map based on what happens for a long amount of time, I would not mind. The flaw of this is each server would have its separate results, so if you want to see an alteration to what has already changed, you need to move servers.
Although if you mean that it only has one way of it happening, than its really not that exciting, basically it would turn into a 1 time deal just as leveling is and lose the excitement within a week. I would suggest instead of this concept, move into a 1 day, 3 day, 1 week, 2 weeks and 1 month events that alter the world based on the results, this will make the cycle of maps and the world feel like it is always flowing if each major event such as this can create a completely different experience each time you run through the world. What I mean by this is, you can create more than one character of the same exact story, race and profession and go through the same zones and it will feel different each time that you experience it.

I agree! What I mean we’re long time changes taking place overtime through multiple events during a month and long term events, such as the status of the war in Orr, wheer there is anothe thread that has a good concept of what the events and happening in Orr should be like, actual consistent military movement into Orr to occupy it like WvW and the risen trying to push us back. Rather than just a one time sudden change tho that could happen as well.
However it is a good point it might be inconsistent through diff servers. That would actually be very interesting because its like parallel universes running at different speeds. But there may be ways to make it consistent too… Hmmm… Like we would probably need check points on the history world timelines. If those match up then it can bring things up to speed or delay certain events or happenings so that all servers match the consistent pace. I.e if the make over of Orr takes place sooner in one server then nothing happens for the rest of the month until the other servers catch up. Where as by the last week of a month, if a server hadn’t caught up yet then NPCs will continue to push for it to happen rather than depending completely on the players. Idk though that’s up to a dev team because that is more technical design issues
I’m thinking monthly check points and map changes. But the capability of map changes is a dev issue how much new map data we need to download and stuff. Sort of like a patch update or background map update download when things change.
A small “one time” (as opposed to what we want with long term evolution) example of was meant by map changes would be like a ecofriendly event where after we are able to occupy a war torn land we have the opportunities to plant trees. These trees would be permanent and form a new forest. Right now our maps don’t have interactive stuff like that and are static and we can’t affect the world around us ourselves but I digress.
