Liadri and rage
Haha nope! Only hard content in the game shouldn’t be nerved!
Liadri is by far not too hard, actually, she is too easy.
Adapt to her, change your traits, your weapons, your playstyle.
Post your class and gear so that we can give you tips.
General tips include that both the clones and shadowfall AoE zones spawn in a pattern and that should you stick as much as possible to the center of the arena in Phase 2, so that it’s easier to dodge the aoe or to don’t even dodge at all.
If cripple is your problem, get a 25% Increased Movement Speed Signet or Trait or get a decent Swiftness Buff. etc.
They fixed a lot of complaints from last year (open top stadium / bright aoe circles / nerfed a bit of the mechanics)
After finding a build that brings you close to victory, you are supposed to keep going at it until you get lucky or get that epiphany of how the battle flows.
Okay, first off the entire fight is on a rail. It is NOT random where those red zones come down, they are in a pattern every time, even more so in phase two. Secondly, the safest spot to fight her is right on top of her as phase two eats half the booard with the red circles in a VERY easy to decern patter, infact, where you where just standing to be safe is where the next zone will fall, allowing you to dance right on the edge. Fear, stun, cripple, daze and or invul/dodge roll her clones, it’s a VERY easy fight/

Malsavias|80 Necromancer| Tarnished Coast
Which arena you fight her in impacts the fight as well, specifically it impacts where in the arena the circles of light appear. I find the northernmost arena’s are best for Liadri.
If you can just run a Warrior with a rifle and some speed buffs, when you get to phase 2 just shoot her till she dies. Helps to have piercing shots so clones can’t absorb hits for her.
All that said, she is comparatively EASY this year compared to last year.
Laidari is too much overpowered. I wasted ~70 tickets, 10g and all festival tokens to get absolutely NOTHING from her. She needs to cripple less, have 2 at max inv buffs and spam less red fields. HP nerf would be welcomed as well.I am trying to kill her for 2 days already and Im seriously out of patience for this game.. aNET please do something about this.
Thanks in advance.
You’re doing it wrong. There’s a pattern the red circles fall, and she’s only invulnerable until you toss 3 light orbs at her.
Use a necro or guard… ez mode

Agree, this needs a MASSIVE nerf and then some more.

Nope, she doesn’t any nerfs. Some players could use a buff, if you catch my drift.

Easy Mode for Liadri is not allowed. Sorry mate.
Liadri was easy, I didn’t even know the fight when I tried it but still beat her after three tries with a mesmer.

Maybe it’s because I’ve fought (and beat) Liadri in the last Gauntlet event, but I find her to be simple enough. Trying to fight her as a rifle warrior for the new title with no luck so far (curse Anet for making me fight her AGAIN to get it), but most of the problems I am having are my own. Dodging when I probably don’t need to, which leads to endurance starvation when I do need to dodge, etc.
It’s not a hard fight; it just takes practice.
Pro-Tip: Use your favorite warrior build and faceroll the keyboard, this will do it for you.
Even the 8 orbs, I can tell from experience.
don’t be a clicker and learn to bind. Also knowing how to circle strafe helps.

With circle strafing any class that has a ranged weapon and a few condi cleanses can take her down with just auto attack 1 spam. only real thing you have to be aware of are the orb spawns but they have a huge long animation so killing those in time isnt too hard either

You only wasted the tickets etc if you didn’t learn anything about how to defeat her. Obviously, a lot of people have taken her down, so it’s a matter of skill, not of effort.
(I say this as someone who has yet to emerge victorious from her fight, i.e. I’m not good enough…yet.)
What class do you play? a ranger by coincidence?
I have done it with my ranger past year and I do have to say the boss is too hard doing it with certain class(es). Pet would just instantly die and a ranger would have to go full zerk to deal eneugh damage as they do barely any cond dmg when ranging. Going full zerg without pet will leave a ranger vurnable to the max tho which results in bleeding to dead.
I do totally agree that the boss should stay the same (or even may be tougher) as I would just do it like that on my warrior, but it’s the mechanic of some classes that fail here. This is basically why I have pleed to imply a different pet mechanic where the pet would buff the ranger when stored in order to avoid such complications.
Liadri isn’t so bad with a decent build to counter her, and once you know the patterns to her aoe, it’s very doable.
Now the achievement for 8 orbs… that’s another story.
i took her down in 28 tries on my necro, it was really frustrating but i really looked forward to that awesome feel when i do beat her, it’s like fighting that one really tough boss in dark souls and you beat it, yeah that feel. as for the 8 orbs i need more training before i get to that

I haven’t tried with a ranger but Whirling Defense on axe offhand should do the trick for a non berserker build. It’s a decent damage source and she can realy destroy herself with retaliation.
Conditions/Traps should work too.
She is easy now after they removed the roof, just be sure you use build that can cleans here debuffs.

Thanks for the feedback
Retaliate might work yes, haven’t tried it. Tho traps will get difficult as they have a CD/need to drag her over them. I agree that cond build would be the way to go when fighting her tanky, Maybe have a shortbow with earth sigil or axe+dagger as well. Anyway, still doesn’t take away the fact that Anet should do something about the ranger pet insta dieng in quite some situations! as far as my concerns go Liadri is hardest to fight with a ranger, by far… For example I even almost managed to kill Liadri naked with my war, should do it anytime soon.
I play with warrior. If you killed her that doesn’t mean all players will be. We are very casual, not hardcore. And she needs nerf.
Its not hard. Its cheap.
Cheap kitten mechanics to add difficulty. Why is it these days all Devs do to make something hard is “Add-Damage” or “Add-Health”.
Insta-kill Orbital Strikes
Insta-kill Death clones
LET ME PULL YOU ACROSS THE MAP IF YOU DON’T SEE ME IN 3 SECS WITHOUT STABILITY!
And then people wondering kittening why Zerker is meta for PvE. Cause you CAN’T TANK kitten!
Call her hard or whatever but she’s the epitome of cheap kitten mechanics rolled into one.
Also WTF can’t I just play the Gaunlet as and when I want to? What kittentard dev thought it would be a good idea to say “You know what, lets put part of our Living Story (thats temporay) BEHIND A GRIND WALL!!! WOOOOO!!”

Why should all players be able to kill her?
She is targeted at the more hardcore audience.

The problem is that the pve content in this game usually does not require any skill at all. So when difficult content arrives like liadri, candidate trials, aetherblade path TA, there are always complaints from those not used to the difficulty which is much higher than most of the other content.
Pve in gw2 is purposefully not separated into “raider” and “everyone else” but rather “those that put in the time” and “those who play the game very casually”. This makes time the distinguishing factor in pve rather than skill. However difficult content goes against the whole pve design philosophy.
I’ve said this the first time Liadri came out: the gauntlet bosses are combinations of simple raid mechanics that have been used for years. However there is a split in the playerbase. For those who have raided and participated in high end pve content in other games, she is pretty easy. Especially for those who have done all aspects (tanking/healing/melee+ranged dps).
For those who have never been part of that scene will find her extremely challenging as they must learn “the book of raiding” in a short amount of time while raiders have had years to get accustomed to mechanics/playstyles.
Bugs aside, the mechanics are neither cheap nor new and is found in most modern raid encounters. Shadowfall is a simple ground pattern aoe that forces player movement. Adds/orbs forces players to pay attention to surroundings and positioning. The cosmic rifts force target shifts and more awareness. Her cripple is debuff management. Her leap is an attack that should be mitigated through a tank cd (in this case dodge). Her whirl cleave forces melee disengage. And the timer is simply an enrage.
Raiders have dealt with all these mechanics for a long time and at the high end know 1 mistake wipes a raid. The only real challenge is that most don’t deal with all aspects at once, and could be new for those who have only done 1 job ever in raids.
Her cripple is insane. This is way too hard. And I am not the only one who complains. There will always be players who are up for and up against nerf. I say: Nerf Liadri’s cripple and HP at least. Lets see what will aNET say on this.
Well her cripple is the same as any other cripple, either cleanse it or dodge through the shadow falls. Resist the urge to dodge her leap attack and save everything for stuff that will kill you in one hit.
And her hp is low enough to be burned through with life steal procs.
My only complaint is that I’ve died more than a few times from the AoE despite being outside the AoE circles. When I’m close to the edge I run instead of dodge, and I’m usually a good body’s length away from the AoE when it descends (and kills me anyway). I’m not even laggy when I’m doing this fight, so it’s aggravating I’m burning tickets because of these deaths.
Liadri is not easy. If you beat her once every 5 times (or more) that does not mean at all that the fight is easy.
However, it’s definitely not impossible. Any profession can beat her. And all except rangers can get 8 orbs achievement. That is because pet dies and it’s like 50% nerf on ranger.
I did liadri normal way first on berserker ranger and 8 orbs on guardian, but I am confident that I could get 8 orbs on thief as well very easily.
Okay so, if I follow you correctly:
- Because you can’t beat a boss aimed for hardcore players, you ask for it to be nerfed to your need. You want the entire staff to change something appreciated by many like this for your own desire. You want to punish the people loving challenge and hard bosses because you don’t have the skills to do it otherwise.
It doesn’t work like that. Life doesn’t work like that neither. She’s exactly the same as last year, which implies strongly that Anet doesn’t intend to change her.
Even better: we now have Ascended weapons and armors, something we didn’t have last year when she first appeared. The AOE are even more visible and we don’t have any camera issues caused by the dome anymore.
During the first gauntlet, I’ve beaten her (after +80 tickets and 50 gold lol) in exotic, in half soldier/berserker. I had a bad time (worst of my GW2 time in fact, the rage, oh gawd), but it ended being possible and when it happened, it felt so rewarding. I’ve tried again this year in full berserker, with ascended weapons and ascended trinket and she ended being way easier this time around.
The Gauntlet asks for you to change your playstyle to overcome the challenge. Traits are free to change now, so is armor repair. Find a new combination, try new armors, new weapons. There are tons of guides out there. If you really can’t do it, I think it would be better for your own sanity to accept the defeat and move on. Raging and crying for a nerf will just make you look like a spoiled child.
Good luck.
TL;DR: No, she’s made for hardcore players. She’s meant to be hard. The rewards is meant to be rewarding. Deal with it.

All this being said a title for 8 orbs would be real nice.
I’m sorry, look, I really sympathize with the stress that is Liadri, but despite the fact that I too have attempted the fight MANY MANY times, I have never thought it needed a nerf. The game is SO devoid of good PvE challenges that provide you with something to show off (title and mini, as an example). I PRAISE the existence of Liadri. It’s not impossible, the fact that people have completed it can attest to that.
Without sounding harsh and cold, it really is a case of…if you can’t complete the content you don’t deserve the reward. If you want the mini, the title, the AP, then dedicate the time. Even with that said, and even with the life steal bug, Liadri is not for every man and his dog to complete.
Protect him at all costs.
She is not easy, but it was the only challenge in this game for me. Yesterday I killed her 4 times and made 8 orb achievment.
Here is build I used if someone is interested (warrior).

I think all of the Queen’s Gauntlet fighters are immune to immobilize. I could be wrong.
You should have tried Liadri last year; then with awkward camera angle and hard to see AoE markers. That was intense!
This year was a breeze in comparison!
Last year took 70+ tickets, this year 15… mostly to remember the patterns of how everything goes. Shadowfall is predictable both which quadrant gets hit (phase 1) and then the hourglass (phase 2), her Visions of Mortality always spawn same places, and when she becomes vulnerable it’s just plain mechanics to burn her down. The Orb I agree is probably the only random bs factor in the fight, but if you see it spawning, get ready with some stability until you can get rid of it so it doesn’t catch you off guard.

to those who say it is too easy, how comes I have seen many people fighting her but not even one killing her? The closest I have seen was 20% or so.
So i am not saying nobody is killing her but it seems to be a minority.
Yes. Remove arguably the only hard boss in this game.
While we’re at it, remove her from the arena and make her an open world boss so everyone can beat her spamming their auto attacks.
I play with warrior. If you killed her that doesn’t mean all players will be. We are very casual, not hardcore. And she needs nerf.
Liadri is far from “hardcore” levels of player skill.
Not everybody is meant to be able to kill her.
Liadri is not too easy but she doesn’t need a nerf either. Liadri is fine as it is now, many have killed her, so it’s not impossible.
They only needed to remove the shield around the arena because the camera is already awful as it is without the roof blocking the view, they even made the aoe much easier to see. What you need is the right build, patience to memorize the pattern of the spawns and some skill. If you lack any of those, just avoid her…

Maybe because people who kill her don’t take up the arena for hours? Most of them kill her under 1 minute, yawn, and move away.
Compeared to last years Liadri, this years is a joke. I’m currently killing her with 2-3 gambits…
Liadri is OK.
GW2 need more such bosses, that are not killable with spamming 1111.
How about…no. Quit with the one-hit kills. Not challenging or fun. One Liadri is bad enough, we don’t need more.
Actually, I’m starting to hate the 1-hit kill from the shadows as well, not because it’s difficult, but because it puts you completely and utterly at the mercy of Anet’s connection.
I was trying to kill Liadri when I ran out of time, the floor dropped out on me… and then the game didn’t teleport me back up to the medic and I couldn’t WP because it was still contested; people were too busy killing bosses below, so I had to log out and log back in to WP… and got stuck in a server that was lagged to hell. I had absolutely no issues with lag the entire time up to that, but now I can’t even get past the first shadow because its reported position is actually a second behind its actual position, so I’m constantly being eaten by shadows nowhere near my position.
Tried logging out and back in several times, but I keep getting stuck in the same megaserver. No lag in Divinity’s Reach though, despite being a bigger map with more people.
The whole idea was that a minority kill her. In fact, she’s not even hard enough. She was made by Anet as a response to players wanting hardcore content, so obviously she’s supposed to be hardcore.
But we got builds like the guaranteed warrior kill build which can down her in greens, meaning that we really need something even harder.
Personally, I loved the gauntlet. It’s practically the only PvE fights I’ve enjoyed. I would be pretty sad if it were nerfed I want harder challenges. I want even harder challenges, stuff I can’t do yet with my skill level (which imo is pretty low)
Maybe I just have masochistic behaviors, but I love fights I can’t win at all/very easily
and p.s. I main a ranger, and it took me 10-20 tries to beat. I could arguably say ranger is one of the easier classes to beat it on. if you use a longbow you can consistently circle-strafe her to the point of barely getting hit at all
edit: ok, I have one problem with it, and that’s that it still has a few bugs. not nearly enough to make it un-beatable though
When you kill 1000th champion you don’t feel satisfy ,it’t like a work. Only good competition can bring proud of your skills
Last year, it took me 68 tries before I finally killed her on my ranger. The orb that pulls you was immune to ranged attacks, so that made it very hard to kill it without making a special trip across the arena. The dome forced your camera into odd angles all the time so you constantly were looking at the floor/ceiling without meaning to. The last part that made this incredibly hard, was the AOE circles. They were practically invisible! You had to look straight up to see where the shadowfall was. I had to re do all my traits, but I did it and I got to torture her mini for months until this gauntlet.
Now this year, I beat her on my 2nd try. With the orb fixed, the dome gone, and the giant bright orange AOE before her shadowfall hits, I found the fight MUCH easier.
Liadri is not easy. If you beat her once every 5 times (or more) that does not mean at all that the fight is easy.
